Love ur vids man
Why cant the III and VII chords not be sus 4 chords?
sus
Yo the 3rd chord in major can't be played as a sus2 since it requires an F#, though there can be an Esus4 in C major since there's an A in both the scale and the chord.
My thoughts as well.
sounds pretty cool though. but technically, yes it doesn't belong in major harmonic structure
but since it suppresses the third whatever kinda
once you get deep into dissonance, there's no going back. I'm playing the Gb 😈
@@shikarics dissonance = cool af 😎😎
hehe sus
i need a strat
Yeah what a funny word, I sure do hope it doesn’t have any connections to a video game that’s a ripoff of John carpenters the thing
i said LET IT DIE its been a year 😭
@@ilovehomies LET IT DIE LET IT DIE LET IT SHRIVEL UP AND DIE.
@@natesingsotherthings7024 that’s some of the dumbest shit I’ve read all week
I’m a super fan of The Thing, but saying among us is a rip off of The Thing is like saying Tomb Raider is nothing but a rip off of Indians Jones.
Both The Things and Indians Jones borrow heavily from tropes and films from the early to mid 20th century, but they took those common tropes and ideas, repackaged them and distilled them into a more pure form both as something original and as a homage with heavy and obvious inspiration at the same time.
Same thing with both among us and Tommy raider, they are their own things and both have creative worth as their own pieces, even if they have drawn heavy inspiration from the tropes of the past
@@natesingsotherthings7024 not recently tho, years ago. In fact, I might be your dad
This guy said ''sus'' than all the among us players combined 😂
sus
lmao "said sus than all among us players combined"
In the key of C, Em cannot be played as a Sus2 chord (or in the Bm7b5 which is Locrian so also b2).
That Sus2 note of Em would be F# which is not in that key; and the Sus2 of the Bm7b5 would be C#, also out of the key.
Now the IV chord (the 4 chord) cannot be played as a Sus4 because that would require a Bb note not a B which is part of that key.
So no Sus2 in the iiim chord (3) which is Phrygian or in the vii half-dim (7) which is Locrian so also b2; and no Sus4 in the IV chord (4) which is Lydian so #4.
i like your fancy words magic man
Damn, here i was thinking suspended chords would have something that'd help learn them, but it's back to thinking again
still good to know!
Locrian chord has a 4th interval, so couldn't you technically suspend the minor 3rd and play a sus4 here? But who would want to, right?
Alex Lifeson is another great example for use of sus chords. Check out songs like “Natural Science” and many others
When he played the chords, this was the first music i thought of!
Love how he did “C-flat” (Cb) as a troll. Wonder if lots of others caught that. 😂
It's not a troll. B and Cb are enharmonics but in this case Cb is the proper way of naming the chord.
@@swietoslawprozak gotcha man, but I just go by them saying B and C and E and F are a half a step apart and went by that for me to understand my own way, but I understand the concept. B Major or C flat (Cb)Major. Going down the scale I refer as flats as well and going up the scale I refer as sharps but I guess to each of their own. Same note and pitch. As long as a person understands the language and can tweak it to help them understand and get same result, that’s great, so I guess to each of their own. “F-Flat” would be E and E “sharp” would be F. Always good stuff. 💪
The up for sharp and down for flat I don’t get. You simply want to avoid having identical note names. If you have an A and A#, you’d call it A and Bb. Going up or down the fretboard is irrelevant imo
That first chord reminded me of the intro to Get Stoned by Hinder. Am I the only one who heard that?
I understood this! Talk about growth!
iii chord has a sus4, not a sus2 😢. Still love your content though bro. ❤
You can play the 7th chord as sus4. It'll be a sus4b5 chord. B E F.
hehe
BEF
I legit was just wondering about this and here you are Mr D'Eon with the information I needed
me trying not to mention the silly astronaut murder game when sus is mentioned (impossible)
For some reason, I spent so much time in my head with music theory involving chord progressions, keys and chord voicing. Then I watch this and I was right the whole time💯😮💨😂😂
really good chart there... and nice progression too
Keep the shades on...😎 cool chords
That's good! Im going to try it.
Great stuff
thank you
I loved watching this CZcams Long!
Loved the outro 😂
Cheer~~~a group of (typically three or more) notes sounded together, as a basis of harmony.😊
The holy chord......Gsus
thats sus, caught in 4k
Glad it's Sunday, now I know it's Gsus4 me, where's my cigarette, I'll show myself out
Bro that gives me ideas
Talk about a SUSpicious video
Have you ever thought about making a guitar program for complete beginners?
Holy Chord
As a guitarist I knew that it was only a matter of time before all the sue jokes in relation tic the chord lmao
Bro, thank you so much for this, I was struggling on trying to create a chord progression for a song that didn’t sound boring and I figured it out thanks to this vid, thank you bro, but quick question, could you do this for minor scales?
If the notes in the chord are part of the scale then you can use it, but trust your ears more than anything else. If it sounds good, it's good
@@jw1zard606 okay, thank you for the tip
Gsus!!!!!!
You just made me pick up a chord book I have.
Gbsus2 must be the opening chord for PlayStation 2❤

That sounded mystical.
B is innocent
What kind of AmongUs math is this
CHILL OUT BRO!
Only here will you get such info
The chords he starts to play sounds a lot like 'The Sixteen Men of Tain' by Alan Holdsworth.
WHY CAN'T WE SAVE THESE?
All except one huh? Well that be sus.
Zappa
Very sussy indeed
Sounding a lot like Animals As Leaders
i will now only play in B key because its not sus.
Its so much u have to learn sheesh
I might as well drop guitar and learn to be a computer programmer itd probably take less effort

i has a question that might help me with a little music theory project im working on if anyone is able to answer or if brandon himself is able to answer:
So the chart that he shows in this video that shows the chords and then which can be played as a sus2 and a sus4 chord made me a little bit interested in this topic, but can you make a chart like that for every kind of "alternate chord" such as diminished chords or augmented chords? i think it would help me alot if i was able to write down a table of all of these and then refer to it when writing a song and it would also be nice to share since you would just be able to look for your chord in a major or minor key, and then see if the sus2 for example, could (by theory) be applied. If you are able to apply the chart to different kinds of alternate chords, then it would be really helpful imo.
yall we cant vote B out they have no sus
I only accept GSus.
Basic Dream Theater song generator:
What about augmented chords?
What about if you were in a minor key, what sus chords would apply then?
Bruh 7#9 not even on list 😢
Esus2? Isnt that Susb2?
WHAT CHORDS
You just Allan Holdsworthed yourself
Yo bro, what's a c flat?
isn’t that just a b?
C flat is enharmonic (the same pitch) to a B natural, but since the song uses many flats, it makes more sense to call it Cb rather than a B natural. If the song used sharps instead, it would make more sense to call it B natural.
(Short Answer: Cb is enharmonic to B, but it all depends on context to notate it one or the other).
Examples:
Db to Cb
C# to B
Cb to Fb
B to E
Music Nerd Fact 🤓: Cb, Fb, B#, and E# can all be their own independent notes or pitches in other tuning systems.
@@YoVariable thanks for the answer. It just seemed weird to me to call it a Cb, since I knew that was just a b, (not that familiar with theory). Thanks anyway
@@munecoin9986 np bro, happy to help :)
Haha sus big funni
Soo what it saying is don’t “B sus”
among
But why the C note sounded right instead of Cb on this song whenever I played the Gbmaj scale .. am I playing the wrong scale?
What pedals did you use for this lesson?
Computer
Don't Dream it's over is a GREAT song that uses sus chords 😮
sus
Purple rain by prince got some hella sus chords🥵
When you play worship music you play Gsus chord
What's for add9, add11 and add13?
Chords 1, 2, and 6 will accommodate add9, add11, and add13. Chord 3 will accommodate add11. Chord 4 will accommodate add9, add13. Chord 5 will accommodate Dom9, Dom11, and Dom13. Chord 7 will accommodate add11.
Whenever you listen to Soul and R&B you are almost guaranteed to have SUS chords or other interesting chords. Those songs aren't gonna use run of the mill chords. Look up any Earth, Wind & Fire song they probably have a lot of SUS chords.
I was stuck trying to figure this out for way too long, tysm
Being self taught is so hard when 99% of online info is so fragmented/worthless
Why Dm sus 4 yes and Em sus 4 not?
Um sus chords 👀👀
Cb? B
C Flat😮
Yup
police songs!
very sus
E=sus4
Um, there is no sus2 chord for the 3rd chord in the key. It has a flattened 2nd interval (Phrygian). But, there is a 4th interval in the 3rd chord thus a sus4 is the appropriate chord for 1,2,3,5, and 6 chords in the key. The sus4 has no place on the 4th Chord due to the #4 (Lydian).
This only applies for Major keys
That's actually sus
Play the among us theme but one chord is sus
Guys I think Em chord is sus(amgus music)

Esus2? F# is not in the key of C.
This short is so sus
