to change the gearcase oil, turn the engine so the plug is down, then remove the plug and let the oil drain for a while. To fill the gearcase, turn the engine so the plug is up and slowly fill with oil letting the air come out. The throttle friction screw is accessed by putting the lever as far towards "FAST" and look at the top of the engine block for a large flat head screw, unscrew it a tad and that will make the throttle friction less.
The tank is NLA ( no longer available), but If I were you I'd ask a local marina in your area if they have any parts motors that would have a good tank.
The steering handle probably needs to be tightened up and there is a bolt on the mag plate that could probably be tightened to solve the throttle problem.
I have really enjoyed watching your videos. I just did the same work to a 77 evinrude 2hp. Mine seems to have a little more vibration than yours. For example the steering handle on mine is just going bananas when I'm not holding it. Is this normal or do you think I have some fine tuning to do. Also the speed control slowly makes it way left until it get to close to stop and the motor dies. I think this also do the vibration.
got one just like it and all she will do is burn the prime. doesnt seem like its getting fuel even with choke on. cleaned carb and there is fuel in it. any ideas
I have the same little engine, can you perhaps tell me how to change the gearbox oil (I only see one opening for it!) And the stop/start/speed-handle goes stiff moving back to the stop position. any suggestions?
Nice videos i have a few questions if you wouldnt mind answering if possible, I believe i have the 1973 model and she runs like a champ but doesnt idle very well any lower than halfway between the stop and start position? And my mag lever works fine and feels smooth but is pretty stiff to adjust back and forth i noticed yours moves rather freely? and lastly the 2 sets of lean and rich knobs and the 2 screws kind of confuse me when do i adjust them and what position is best for them to be at?
Cooling water inlet is 2 or 3 small holes on the sides of the leading edge of the gearcase, and the cooling water comes out of the exhaust relief holes halfway down the leg (only will see a fine spray when running as most of the cooling water comes out of the exhaust underwater).

cheers for the quick response
I have one of these that got swamped last year. still haven't got it running yet
@Oldoutboardsjack I would suggest looking around in your area for one. I don't know of anyone selling one right now.
