Hello, If anyone is in the same situation as in this video, the high speed needle at the bottom needs an adjustment. I just did mine this weekend. I have an 84 Evinrude Junior. I had to adjust the high speed needle, and it now runs perfectly.
msamour… this motor would not run at WOT without a carb clean. The high speed jet was plugged so just adjusting the knob didn’t help. Thanks for posting your response and watching the video.
@@LivetofishOutboardRepair ah ok. That makes sense. I have that problem with my 4 HP. I have to do a full carb clean on that one. That and replace the recoil spring. Thanks for the video!
I have a question - how are you able to turn that engine over with the drill? i understand that you have a chuck made for it with a socket on the end but how do you stop the drill just driving the flywheel nut down and damaging it?
9cardt26… if the motor is not locked up internally, you should be able to turn the flywheel easily, even with your hands. The drill is variable speed and it starts out slow then increases in rpm as I pull the trigger.
@@LivetofishOutboardRepair thanks for replying. i think my issues is i was using an impact wrench on slow and it was just driving the nut dowm further shall try again with a lower torque cordles drill
I have the same motor and today I was putting it all back together and there are 4 bolts that hold the starter cowing to the motor and one of the bolts has a clip of some sort on it and I think it is used to ground the motor but I can’t remember which bolt it goes to and what it is supposed to rest against? Any help will be appreciated Thanks
What does it matter if the float is touching the bottom of the bowl..the needle and seat dont know that,,lol..all that it matters is that the float rises up with the gas to open the needle and seat
Sometimes if the float touches the bottom of the bowl they can stick. And many of the manuals tell you not to let the float touch the bottom of the bowl.
@@LivetofishOutboardRepair theres no glue in there, lol ,but whatever u think,,manuals also tell u not to bend the float hanger,,they are made so that the float will set level as required
@@gordoncushman7807 I would spray some lubricant into the cylinders before trying to start the motor. Turn it over by hand to distribute the lube then put the plugs back in and try to start it.
Another great video. Sweet motor. Awesome test tank you got there
Thank you ben gearhart!
Thanks!

@@QuackQuackImADuck69yes, never use impact for starting or turning the flywheel
You set the high speed first at full throttle then the low speed at idle
Do you have to run it in water? Can I run it dry?
Ant White …. Never run an outboard dry… you can destroy the water pump and overheat the motor.
Water cooled Impeller P# 382221 OEM
Boatbuilder1 …. Thanks for watching and commenting. I’m sure that part number will help someone locate the part they need.

Appreciate the video, only wish I could see less of your arm

I’m no expert but I know what works for me. Thanks again.
@@scottdempsey3532it is absolutely correct to check the float drop.
@@LivetofishOutboardRepairyou did exactly what is supposed to be done 👍. There are always a few guys on here that have a need to sound superior.
Its water cooled
I finally was able to see the small exhaust holes and water discharge in part 2. Thanks for clarifying and I appreciate you watching and commenting
Audio 🥺
Gordon …. Sorry about the audio. I have sense incorporated a microphone into my videos
Just received an 1990 Evinrude Junior
very helpful. 😁👍✌
Any tips for a long term but properly stored motor ?
