Thanks for keeping it real and showing all of the hiccups along the way.

This was really exciting. It’s well worthwhile fixing these small motors. They have gotten so expensive. Can’t wait for part 2 of the vlog. After watching you repair that 55 inch T.V., I’m pretty sure that this will be fixed as well. Great job. Love your channel.

I had the same issue. Starts for 2 seconds and dies. Repeat for eternity. I had done everything. Taken the thing apart completely basically. I decided to screw the jets in all the way. Seated. And the thing fires up and stays running on idle. The manual says 1 and 1/2 turn out for the low jet so this is slightly weird. But I guess I dont have a bad coil then.

When you remove the rope starter housing there are 4 or 5 bolts that have to be removed and one of them has a clip on it that makes contact with something on the motor and I can not remember which hole it goes in and what that clip is suppose to make contact with Can You help?
    Thanks

I did figure it out. Check out part two. The screws go in all the way until seated then I always start with backing them out 1 full turn. Thanks for watching.

Sorry for the late reply. For your 1976 2HP the condenser is OEM number 0580321 and the points are 0580148. I hope this helps!

Oh I forgot to mention, Sierra makes a kit. Sierra International 18-5011. This is a replacement for the OEM 072521 I'm told.

@@NorthernHomeGarage cool cheers for the Info may I ask I’m having a little bit of trouble with mine at idle or start seems to splatter and fart and wants to conk out but putting the revs up high she is fine? I’ve done all the basics cleaned and carby kit etc tried to play around with the High and Low speed dials that don’t seem to help before she was stored in the shed for 1 month she was running like a dream? Could the Points be out a tad? I did adjust them I’m lost?

My 1971 2 horse Evinrude requires the Same operation :(. Quick switch to fast, slower… big down, quick switch to max throttle, etc. etc. Why are these 2 horses such shit, they should run well minimum maintenance. Oh, and reinstalling the motor cover , what an awful design idea

Wow sounds like we have the same frustrations! lol. Well the coil fixed mine. Pretty inexpensive repair and now I don't have to play with the throttle anymore to keep it going! Thanks for watching.
