Southgate is the consumate organiser and his work ethic is exemplary, but his game management is atrocious. He surrenders the initiative and fails to see the clearly shifting momentum until it is too late. Probably, like me, millions of England fans were screaming at the tv for him to make changes ten minutes before Switzerland inevitably scored. Like many middle of the road managers he lacks spontaneity, vision and courage. He obviously has the pieces of paper and knows the coaching theory but in practice he is not an elite level coach in terms of game management.

The PR behind this Declan Rice is INSANE!!!.
England's problem is staring them in the face and no-one wants to recognise it.
If it was Rodri, Fabinho even Wharton playing for England in Rice's place you'd see a different much more fluid team team!!
Ever since he came into the England midfield and became a regular, the midfield it been static and stiff with no playing through the thirds.
One can clearly see that this guy was developed as a CB coz he lacks basics of a modern 6.
-He stays hidden behind defenders & can''t open for the ball in build-up,
    -No passing range,
-Cant take the ball on the backfoot and play on the half turn to get forward ball
-During buildup he stays in Midfied even when its congested, he doesn't understand when to drop in between the CB's to push the WB's up
-When he does get the ball with back facing to goal hes either gonna pass it back to a defender or pass it sideways, no forward pass to speak of
Arteta is smart and realised that RIce is no 6 but he had already spent 100mil+ on him so he obviously couldn't bench him. So he decided put a decent but natural 6 in Jorginho there and moved rice to play a box to box 8 where he could use his energy.
Ask yourself a question If he was world class in that position why would Arteta move him and put a player that that isnt world class?
Imagine Rodri or Busquets being moved to accommodate someone???

The issue with Kane is the mentality of most fans and pundits talking about him. Can we stop talking about dropping Kane like he’s being chucked in the bin. If tactically makes sense to start Watkins for his attributes and end with Kane for his attributes
then it’s just tactical. Eatkins stretching the defence for 60 mins makes a lot of sense. Then Kane off the bench when the opposition has tired seems like a winner to me as well. That’s when his killer instinct is most threatening.

I don't subscribe to the painfully clueless retort of "he ain't going to do it" (sorry Adam) as Southgate's inability to make difficult decisions, legitimises wild speculations and hypotheticals. We are well past the effects of frustration and boredom that usually accompanies many a match under Southgate's stewardship. So in the absence of grounded logic, tactical acumen and the timely ability to actually make a decision, what else are we to do?
Kane should be dropped, so should Trippier, make a decision on either Bellingham or Foden (they cannot play together), Start with Guehi, Gomez, Gordon and Watkins. Saka has done more than enough to keep Palmer at bay, for now but if you are going to make an attacking substitution, think of Cole Palmer first. It's irrelevant what Southgate would or wouldn't do at this moment in time, as it's the only way the nation can preserve it's sanity, I would recommend a scathing rebuke for anyone offering up such flawed logic. It's in moments like these that I think of Andy Dufrain's thoughts on hope. :)

The need for attacking width options on both sides along with a present & mobile striker is blaringly obious for all to see ... except it seems the main decision makers. what ever happens in these Euros... please please please can it be the end of his reign of Negative -reactive & anti-football style of play.. whilst there are more offensive stylish attacking options.. that can win games & supporters over.. just watch how Spain are playing free flowing attacking stylish football & winning their games at the same time as keeping their supporters proud & entertained.
