Suddenly Southgate is a genius. Saka's goal was England's first shot on target.. Holland will punish us if we don't take our chances
What chances? đ
You can't create chances in your own half (Southgate)
Saka scores this goal all the time for arsenal
You said the same about Switzerland đđđ
Donât watch us thenđ€Ą
@@moinedee7935 Netherlands are better than Switzerland though. They're a top 10 team and have won 10 of their last 15 matches. Switzerland have won 5 of their last 15 matches.
Southgate is the consumate organiser and his work ethic is exemplary, but his game management is atrocious. He surrenders the initiative and fails to see the clearly shifting momentum until it is too late. Probably, like me, millions of England fans were screaming at the tv for him to make changes ten minutes before Switzerland inevitably scored. Like many middle of the road managers he lacks spontaneity, vision and courage. He obviously has the pieces of paper and knows the coaching theory but in practice he is not an elite level coach in terms of game management.
I agree with most of what you've written but he isn't close to middle of the road, he is way below that and when he fails this summer no club team will go near him thats for sure (unless they want to get relegated like Middlesborough!)
League games are entertainment, International tournaments are about winning
Exactly. Everyone could see the shift in momentum,. The laughable thing watching the stats and heat maps after the goal, England just ignored tactics and went for it to score again
Has there ever been an easier path to the semis? Serbia, Denmark, Slovenia, Slovakia and Switzerland 4 draws in normal time and barely scraping past Serbia đđđ the management has been SHOCKING.
How in the flaming pit of Hades have we got to the last four, England have been absolute shite, i,m coming round to the theory that Southgate is the second coming, no one has that much luck
Canât be that white if we keep making semi finals.
Easiest group and easiest knockout draws.
@@simonshotter8960canât be that good if you always lose to the first half decent team you meet, especially if one attempt to top the group failed because you had belgium and one attempt to reach semifinals failed because you got france in the quarterfinals
@@yoshiwoollyworld last four tournaments there has only been one where we didnât make a final or semi final.
Look who weâve played đ«Ł weâve more than laboured this far
I will celebrate more when Southgate leaves then if we fluke this Euros.... I have never hated any manager before, he is the first.
Southgate has reached another semi final, heâs now deceived the FA into thinking heâs a good manager by reaching 3 semi finals and now theyâll give him a new contract. The sooner this inept manager is sacked the better.
I was distraught when England lost in previous tournaments, if we had gone out yesterday I wouldâve been relieved!!! Embarrassing and depressing
@@FastCheetah-oq6kj Well said and this is the heart of the matter. The FA are not fit for purpose. Southgate's only club 'achievement' is getting a then decent Middlesborough team relegated and he somehow smarmed his way into the FA set up and then the England job. These players have carried him and the FA fossils actually think he has done a good job. Easy draws and luck has got us to these SFs.
@@FastCheetah-oq6kj The FA are a big problem as well. They are like an extension of Southgate or he is an extension of them. A bunch of safe yes men afraid to rock the boat.
@@FastCheetah-oq6kjhe has also deceived many england fans into thinking he is the best manager for getting them into three semis out of four
England have got to the semis in spite of Southgate. Not because of him.
I thought that then when he switched to a 3 at the back I knew this team was trash.
No. Because of him. And despite the awful support particularly online which you are part of
â@@SimonFlynn-un1ur
Utter pish, positive or negative fan behaviour makes zero difference on the pitch.
Southgate is an extremely conservative and reactive manager, that's indisputable.
And every time his luck runs out and we face a top side, we lose.
@beefsuprem0241 you clearly haven't been involved in football much. Fan behaviour is absolutely critical He reacted yesterday with subs that won us the game..and all he gets is abuse.
âââ@@gregordrizzlewing7339I do not agree that the players are trash m8 the problem is the manager you can call him a trash manager if you like đ€Ł my point is the fact they have got as far as they have done is because of the players we can talk about tactics and formation all day long however look at the swiss match he only made changes when we went a goal down he is an average manager really I hope we somehow win it but it will not be because of southgate if we do thođ€
England's luck will run out against the Netherlands, France or spain.
Give it a rest
England will beat France in the final.
Turn it in
England are gonna win it aren't they? Southgate has the luck of the Gods, no matter how incompetent he is, no matter how much he is holding England back, no matter how many draws after 90 minutes England have, they are gonna be Greece 2.0.
We aren't going to be able to scrape past the Netherlands playing the way we're playing. We'll either step up our performance and get through, in which case Southgate will have finally earned it, or we will lose, and Southgate will have finally been found out after the getting by so far with luck on his side.
ââ@@joewhite22 That's about right I think. Without improvement I make England 50/50 to get past the Dutch, but the final ... no hiding place there. Improvement would definitely be needed to have a chance, and if Southgate can bring that about, good luck to him.
Southgate is doing a good job. Some of the so called support..like you...has been truly abysmal
He has had a lucky draw, but the big guns are waiting on the final, and Holland can play.
The PR behind this Declan Rice is INSANE!!!.
England's problem is staring them in the face and no-one wants to recognise it.
If it was Rodri, Fabinho even Wharton playing for England in Rice's place you'd see a different much more fluid team team!!
Ever since he came into the England midfield and became a regular, the midfield it been static and stiff with no playing through the thirds.
One can clearly see that this guy was developed as a CB coz he lacks basics of a modern 6.
-He stays hidden behind defenders & can''t open for the ball in build-up,
-No passing range,
-Cant take the ball on the backfoot and play on the half turn to get forward ball
-During buildup he stays in Midfied even when its congested, he doesn't understand when to drop in between the CB's to push the WB's up
-When he does get the ball with back facing to goal hes either gonna pass it back to a defender or pass it sideways, no forward pass to speak of
Arteta is smart and realised that RIce is no 6 but he had already spent 100mil+ on him so he obviously couldn't bench him. So he decided put a decent but natural 6 in Jorginho there and moved rice to play a box to box 8 where he could use his energy.
Ask yourself a question If he was world class in that position why would Arteta move him and put a player that that isnt world class?
Imagine Rodri or Busquets being moved to accommodate someone???
The nation did not turn on him, the abuse was very small in comparison and the majority came from outside of the UK, Saka was excellent and his penalty v-nicely taken.
Southgate out now
For being the most successful england manager in 60 years. Give your head a wobble
Why are u entertaining the idea of him staying again
He is not staying cos he deserves better than representing the abysmal england support
Surely the other way round lads, drop Kane for Toney or Watkins, let them give their defence the runaround, then when everyone is huffing Kane can come on!
I'd rather see him impact from the bench than what we've seen so far.
He won't do that
@@garydixon4290 then it's gonna be more of the same from him! He's done at major tournaments
It's the style of play that everyone has any issue with and his overall management/ tactics.
Witch is way if he did help England win a trop, it would be a success. No doubt.
But not in a manner England fans would be proud of. Boring but effective. I guess.
But a win is a win, so either get on board and support the team or shut up
If Southgate stays on my disappointment will simply just turn into indifference
The issue with Kane is the mentality of most fans and pundits talking about him. Can we stop talking about dropping Kane like heâs being chucked in the bin. If tactically makes sense to start Watkins for his attributes and end with Kane for his attributes⊠then itâs just tactical. Eatkins stretching the defence for 60 mins makes a lot of sense. Then Kane off the bench when the opposition has tired seems like a winner to me as well. Thatâs when his killer instinct is most threatening.
Now that FIFA allows 5 subsitutes, sqyad depth is really important. Shouldn't we be using our subs earlier? I guess we have a good bench there.
The Swiss performance was evidence that weâve finally turned the corner. I was impressed by Garethâs in-game management yesterday. It was quite impressive.
It comes to something when our main strength is that we are good a penalties.
If everyone keeps thinking England can do better, then itâs prob the manager. Think about it, cracking team not getting going is a tactical issue.
Adam is in cuckoo land. Weve scraped through these last 2 games and now hes confident against netherlands. If we had gone out he would be ripping southgate a new one and will be doing on wednesday night
STEPPED UP. MAIN MAN đȘ MOST BORING EUROS WATCHED NO GOALS
I don't subscribe to the painfully clueless retort of "he ain't going to do it" (sorry Adam) as Southgate's inability to make difficult decisions, legitimises wild speculations and hypotheticals. We are well past the effects of frustration and boredom that usually accompanies many a match under Southgate's stewardship. So in the absence of grounded logic, tactical acumen and the timely ability to actually make a decision, what else are we to do?
Kane should be dropped, so should Trippier, make a decision on either Bellingham or Foden (they cannot play together), Start with Guehi, Gomez, Gordon and Watkins. Saka has done more than enough to keep Palmer at bay, for now but if you are going to make an attacking substitution, think of Cole Palmer first. It's irrelevant what Southgate would or wouldn't do at this moment in time, as it's the only way the nation can preserve it's sanity, I would recommend a scathing rebuke for anyone offering up such flawed logic. It's in moments like these that I think of Andy Dufrain's thoughts on hope. :)
If we are winning, is not good enough. English fans desrve quality football. A pub side are more entaining than we are at the moment.
Soo happy for Saka. He deserved to take that pen and definitely deserved to score.!! Ive never heard so much negativity, 3rd semi final, lets just remember this, we could and have the potential to get to another final. Lets back Gareth and the lads.
We are linking to the semiâs. Itâs time for a change but these pundits canât see it. They think we played well going to a back 5. 2 10âs donât work man drop Foden heâs awful. 16 possession losses ffs
Southgate needs to prepare better for tournaments and he needs to make subs much more quickly when things are not working. Needs to be proactive not reactive.
England played better than previous games but similar problems still persist. The left wing is so ineffective, the swiss just suffocate the center making it hard for foden and bellingham to create space and saka is marked by 2 players. And kane being off form is not helping the attack.
Palmer playing on the left for Chelsea best stats in premier league
Foden on the left voted player of the season
Foden playing out of position playing poor
Palmer on the bench
Very political
Palmer does not play on the left for Chelsea
@@leehaslam5751 yep I meant right
Gordon's been the best attacking left sided player in premier league he's had 2 minutes of the bench
I agree with Jermaine in that even England win the Euro's Southgate still has to go. You can blag a Euro's. You can't blag a world cup. There's a reason why there has never been a surprise winner of a world Cup or even a surprise finalist. But Greece have won the Euros
England will have to improve to win this tournament, and if they do find that improvement it will be on Southgate's watch, so I would keep him on (if he wanted to stay). I don't think they"ll win though. 50/50 against the Dutch and the winner to get beat in the final.
So let them win it and then come with all this negativity and discussion.
They are still in a major tournament and all these guys do is chat about sacking the manager.
Absolutely not Southgate out even if they do win the Euros, every competition he's been in we've had an easy run to the knockout stages then we lose once we meet a decent team
I don't really get all the Southgate hate; his record speaks for itself. English people always seem to want to moan and whine about everything. How about you just enjoy the semi-final and support your team 100%.
We should be at the levels of Spain but we are not even at the levels of Switzerland. 5 games and we've only won one in 90 mins. We can't beat Spain with these performances. So we have to hope that France beat spain, we beat netherlands and then it will be a 0-0 finals and penalties - this is the worst Euros I've ever seen.
With support like yours...it just makes it harder. Thanks
@@SimonFlynn-un1ur rubbish
Southgate isn't navigating anything. It's sheer dumb luck from his part. Saka dug him out last night. He was lost until then. He did the same in the last three tournaments, waited and waited until they were in the accendency, then he finally did something. He has to go regardless shorly. I can't take the stress. Blah blah blah no easy games, well that's ok I can accept that but with this squad, you've got to go for it.
Kane's injured,it's clear as day! Watkins to start,Toney second half to bully van dijk. The way James playing, van dijk will eat him up
We didnât win, we drew and won on pens. The Swiss were the better team for the most part.i
Great that England are through fantastic. However, the way England are playing they will lose against the Dutch. Kane is off the pace. The best players are not always the best to have in a tournament team. England have to select players on form and who are fit and sharp.
The FA are more than likely about to offer him another five year contract extension.
Yes Yes 100% agree no no even if England win it no to the World Cup extremely fortunate to the way draw fallen for us if we was on other side off draw would been gone long time seriously
Southgate plan for Holland
0-0 then penalties
Southgate plan...doing the best we can to make the final.
Harry Kane has been invisible for every game, we're playing with 10 men.
He's slow, not pressing, never there for crosses, and missed at least 2 headers which were easy.
Toney, or Watkins have to start!
Kane knows he's not playing well, and a good captain should put England first, and insist that the best striker play, over his own ego of wanting to play!
We were lucky again. Luck only lasts for so long. Southgate is scared to change things in case it goes wrong
He changed things yesterday and it won us the match
@@SimonFlynn-un1ur luck won us the match. Saka in his usual position scored like he does with arsenal that's not changing the match
@jimmychalmers8733 he brought on 3 of the players who scored penalties. As I said before, his decisions won us the match. If you think about it you will understand
@@SimonFlynn-un1ur I understand but I just do not agree with it. Yes he brought on 3 players after 80 minutes and we drew just like he brought on a forward with 2 minutes left when we were 1 nil down. As I said he is too scared to change things.
@jimmychalmers8733 but he is clearly not too scared....because he did it, it had an impact and we got through. He has made changes in other games. The thing is he doesn't make the changes other people want him to make and not the precise time. There are 60m england managers in the country who also can't agree..so how is Southgate to win? There will always be a load of people who say he should have done something else. In the end the only thing to look at is..did we get through or not? And on this occasion the answer is yes
I'd be pretty funny if England wins with Southgate, he walks away and then England go back to being knocked out of tournaments by teams like Iceland and Costa Rica.
The players might win it in spite of how badly Gareth sets them up. No way. We having scored more then one goal.

This generation is best Iâve seen letâs back the boys. The golden generation were eliminated at the quarter-finals in three major tournaments and failed to qualify for UEFA Euro 2008. Majority of the pundits running their mouths were apart of that generation and never achieved as much as the current generation. The pundits seem jealous and negative.
They were eliminated against prime Brazil, Portugal, and Germany. You reckon Southgate would have navigated those fixtures? Also, do you think Sven or Cappello wouldnât have beaten the likes of Slovakia, Switzerland, Ukraine, Denmark etc to reach latter stages?

Nobody can deny that its painfull viewing, yes we are all very happy to be in the SF, but lets not kid ourselfs we are playing on the very edge of our luck, very negative tactics relying on individuals & not a team ethic or pattern of playing style.
The need for attacking width options on both sides along with a present & mobile striker is blaringly obious for all to see ... except it seems the main decision makers. what ever happens in these Euros... please please please can it be the end of his reign of Negative -reactive & anti-football style of play.. whilst there are more offensive stylish attacking options.. that can win games & supporters over.. just watch how Spain are playing free flowing attacking stylish football & winning their games at the same time as keeping their supporters proud & entertained.
If England win Southgate have to continue to the world cup. If not bye, bye.
In North America it was said, winning isnât everything, itâs the only thing.
But it isn't. Nobody will remember this English side. They remember Cruyff's 74 Holland who lost, Zico's and Socrates' Brazil side who lost, France in 82 and 86, who also lost. Bergkamp's Holland in 94 even. The Hungarian side of 1954 even.
The delusion to think England has even a remote chance of beating Spain, or the Dutch for that matter is just off the charts. There is absolutely ZERO chance England is winning this tournament.
