@@totallyel3ktrik119 my solution in school was to turn the chair so my back wasn't on the back rest. Those things are torture. Teachers gave me a hard time for a while. I just told them my back was messed up from the car accident I was in (I ain't lying it was) and eventually they left me be. I'm feeling kind of proud of myself because I've always done this. I never really thought about it much, but I constantly shift positions when I'm sitting or standing. I totally agree about the devices and gizmos - active stabilization is key.
Kudos, you made a huge step to current knowledge and might stop talking about bad posture like you still did 8 months ago. Keep it up, this channel is becoming more valuable
Thank you so much guys for the advice!!! Thanks to you I have been able to learn things that I never knew!!! Also you inspire me sooooooo much to work out every day!!! Thanks for this! I've actually been spending money on "posture correcting" devices and this really puts things into perspective. Lately I've been dealing with a kyphotic cervical spine and I really want to fix it in the shortest time possible but I always tell myself to trust the process. In the words of Gabo Saturno, "We didn’t fuck ourselves up in 1 day. We can’t we expect to “fix us” in 1 day".
I always train both sides. The day i press i row. The day i dip, or press overhead, i pull up, typically a triple set super set between press, pull and core before resting. Olympic lifting excluded where I'll spend the entire next day pulling and rowing
I wish I wish I have seen this earlier! I was told to maintain a straight back all the time I ended up hurting my back by hyper extending my spine. Great info
Great content as usual! I hope to get your complete calisthenics program one day. But the current exchange rate doesn't help me. Not to say it is not worth it, it definitely is. Regardless, thanks for all the great videos you guys make.
You are so right. I once wanted to be straight all the time, but that literally tightens up your erector spinae and multifidus muscles. You feel really tight. So i relaxed a bit. In everything you should not take it to the edge. It would be perfect if u guys upload a video addresing healthy ways to strengthen the spinal discs. What is bad what is good etc. Thanks!! Great work!
I love your videos. I'm a former dance instructor and martial artist that has a deteriorated body, and everything I used to teach has things that you have mentioned here, especially passive vs active body. I have a chemical imbalance that doesn't allow me to commit to things for more than 10 days. Medically looked into already and tried so many prescriptions and supplements with little luck. I don't know if anyone else here has recommendations on how to get the focus to commit this lifestyle. I can actually feel what parts of my body has stopped working or is significantly weaker than it used to be.
Our bodies are not designed to sit or lie down for long hours. It was evolved to run, walk, jump, hunt, pull, push, move around and gain strength, stamina and muscles. So, it's advisable to move a lot and stay fit.
As an artist, having a hunched back will lead to short airways. Also the poor posture for artist can lead to have weaker core strength due to the desk's flat surface, to an traditional artist having stool for an desk is essential. I did made my postural changes by doing lat activated exercises. Like performing lat pull downs, bent over rows or doing push ups in correct form using resistance bands. I hope that helps, not only that- thank you calimove for your comprehensive videos.
About the posture corecting gadgets, I found it very helpuff, as it didn't just hold my shoulders back, but it made me pull them to correct position as it was simply uncomfortable to slouch with it. It put not nice stress and it was scratching my skin if I wasn't forcing myself to keep that correct position. So it really depends on what harnesses you use.
Interesting. I never managed to do a one position for hours anyway. I either gradually slide down, sit sideways, lift my legs, consciously straighten my back, stretch and other movements, several times ah hour.
Hey I'm your huge fan and I'm doing and learning the exercises You show. Last time I sow thing that make muscles work by electric shocks. I'm very curious what do You think about this invention. Please let me know or maybe make a video about that maybe I'm not the only one that is interested in this topic. PS: Thanks for all Your training lessons!
