This series is literally n54 bible.
LSD should be the first mod to any non-M! :D Still love my OS Giken Superlock, best money ever spent on a car.
That broom, I chuckled! Brilliant
Congrats on the diff build. Looking forward to the speed runs and later the rolling races
Thanks man, she feels pretty damn good so far. I was confused with why it wasn't revving as fast in 2nd as normal.... oh we seem to have traction....... bizzare. haha
Reminder that your content is amazing!
I always love watching the daily updates :)
haha thanks man. What are you driving at the moment?
2008 335i obviously lol, had it for 2 years now.
N54 never disappoints!
Exciting! That's a significant difference putting the power down in 2nd, really looking forward to seeing some pulls and how the times change :)
Always a pleasure to see your updates
I love waiting up until 1am to watch your uploads, cheers for another good vid 👍
Legend! haha. dude thanks for hanging out for it. i wish it didnt take me so long to edit haha. also massive big up for your membership. Badges get vag's.....
@@ZeroTo60Tube Ah it'd be rude not to, you guys provide more entertainment than Netflix at half the price 😂
Bro so happy for you! Can't wait for Dave reaction😀
Thats sick. NOW the fun truly begins! 😂👌
dude! it feels wild not just smashing the rev limiter like normal.
Awesome. I just finished a shit shift at work and saw this in my feed. Well done buddy. Can't wait to see the roll racing now and of course the 0-60 time.
I have my td04-17's all plumped in now, just need the time to get the subframe and all the rest back on. Can't wait 😉.
Dude let me know how the turbos go? Super keen to hear what results other people get with the budget turbskis...... Also the brilliant thing about a job is you can forget about it at clock off time...... and focus on the important stuff, like going really really fast......
@@ZeroTo60Tube copy that, will definitely let you know. Unfortunately I'm a boss man so can't fully switch off, you know how it goes.
I found the V clamps on the outlets the biggest pain in the arse! I am using an engine crane so was able to lower the eñgine quite a bit, found getting the rear inlet out in one piece pretty easy like that. About the only thing that was mind you... 😆
Planning on doing the same soon! I hate the open diff in my e90 😫
For the grass test, you could have lined up parallel to your driveway, one wheel on grass, the other on the pavement. Do a small peelout. If the lsd is working properly, you should get a good launch, grip the pavement wheel properly, and maybe pull towards the grass because of the grass being slippery & dragging your car. If it was not working properly, like an open-diff, the grass wheel would spin spin spin, pavement wheel just coast along, and it would feel like car isn't going anywhere, like if both wheels were on grass, even though one is not.
Great video! Just ordered an MFactory diff for mine. Hopefully install goes smoothly, and I don't snap the stock axles I'm re-using. ☠️
That’s great news it’s working! You almost got me! Lol can’t wait for roll racing!!!
Wow I've gotta get a LSD for my 335is. This is awesome 👍
i will delve in to it with more details on actual performance improvements in the next week. But after this drive i was genuinely surprised with what difference it made.
It's good to mention that MFactory recommends to beak-in the diff by doing figures of 8 for 30min, also it needs to be warmed up before hard driving. I have a 2-way on my E90 and it feels awesome, without any noises.
I just came across this - great video and I'm glad you liked the diff. I'm the Australian Distributor and run MFactory Australia - so if you have any questions, please let me know
Hey Leo! We may need a replacement for this as the car now has a dct in it, do you have any recommendations on a large housing e92 diff centre? Will need gears as well. The car is becoming a mfactory setup, have axles and flywheel from you guys on it as well as the diff
@@ZeroTo60Tube Heya - sorry for the late reply - coould you contact me through our facebook page please?
Damn, another mod I didn't know I needed to do!! 😄🤙
Haha, that’s what we like to see. Also massive thanks for your support. Did you get the telegram link?
very cool nice upgrade
Watches video....
sees it hooking up in 2nd...
orders nitrous kit...😅
Good stuff mate always so de-stressing when your mod actually does the thing you were hoping it would do got me curious to see how much of a difference in times it will make 😊🤘
Well today she developed an interested sound. It sounds like i am down a cylinder........ so don't rush for the nitrous just yet. So yeah.... i guess i better start pricing up stronger internals. :P
Glad it all seems good so far, looking forward to seeing what it runs now in the roll races. Maybe drop about 200ml of diff oil after a few runs and check its condition, good indicator of proper gear mesh and backlash or dead clutch material.
That is a brilliant idea.
'All I can hear is my cup holders rattle!' Said every e9x owner ever! 🤣
Great job love your channel.👍
Nice work!
Sweet! Glad it’s all gone well so far! Sideways fun for you! Completely changes the car! The content is spot on 👍🏻I haven’t changed anything in Insta for my diff, will look into it
Awesome! Throttle steer is much more fun with a LSD!
Nice improvise at 0:19 🧹😂
Very nice! Glad it worked out well and thanks for the new idea, been needing a new project
I’m soooo jealous, I really want a lsd in my 335i
Big win 💪
I always get my best times in my 535d launching in 2nd. 1st is literally useless for aggressive starts. Worth checking it won't grenade your transmission first, mind. Such a cool build mate, thanks for all the depth on this car, it's fascinating! Almost makes me want a petrol again.
This car even in its current power levels is quicker starting in first with boost limiting on the street. How to you time your launches? Dragy or vbox etc?
oh also the more i look in to 535D's i want to play with one so bad. They weren't sold in Aus as new, so they are super rare.,
@@ZeroTo60Tube What psi do you use for 1st gear limit?
@@Dynsam_ its set how was i using it with the normal diff. So 10psi 1st and 18psi second. Now this would spin. So it would take some skill with the right foot to get the power down. With this diff, i could mash second it would seem and it hooked. I was genuine surprised.
@@ZeroTo60Tube I'm afraid that I'm not very high tech, so I use the Torque android app. It's not mega precise but it's good enough given enough runs and faffing about.
Figured diesel might be a bit different, my launch control consists of traction off, Manual 2nd gear, stand on the brake pedal, build boost, let go of brake, hold on tight :) If I do that in first, I just sit there in a huge cloud of smoke.
Mine is fully street legal so it's quick but not mental, but my mate's 335d (also with the M57), with the DPF gone, up-rated everything and a really good tune is vicious and it gets 50+mpg on the motorway!
This car is slowly transforming into a serious piece of kit! Great stuff! When are you gonna upgrade the steering wheel? :)
Ya his starting wheel is gettin warn out. Ive been looking at just getting a Alcantara wrap that you sew on, looks pretty good and dont have to spend hundreds on a fancy m one
A clean sweep!
lol....... i was definitely brushing over the details when ordering tools needed for the home workshop
With your kind of power it will always slip in 1st gear, the lsd will make the biggest difference on accelerating out of tight corners (no more on wheel peel) and drifting... You can adjust the preload I think to get a bit less initial understeer, but if you just learn when and how to put it into a corner you can eliminate that as well.
I 100% know i will get used to this diff. But i was surprised what difference its made for normal driving.
I note comments on existing electronics,if I turn mine half off Bmw will collect up any monster slides (usefull on public roads and saves sliding into local pubs beer garden whilst sending it to the great adulation of the local Ladies obviously;) I think when turned off completely it isn’t working contrary to other posts,it certainly doesn’t stop the somewhat embarrassing 20+ complete spin outs I encountered early on in re learning mode. Can’t wait for you to send it ;) Re posted any feedback appreciated Thanks
It changes the way the steering feels because you have a 1.5way clutch diff. Will have mild understeer compared to a 1 way or open on corner entry. Its why a torsen style diff is great for the road because they dont have that feeling. But clutch diff feel is def different and a little nicer if you're going to be going sideways - slightly more predictable. Hence why for track, most people recommend a clutch diff because of the predictability of it. EDIT: Im torn on my m140i between wavetrac (torsen with preload) and a OS Giken 70% lock clutch diff.
get the os giken!
@@JerainJezza 100% street use though. Dont want to drift or track. I just dont want the inside spinning up. Ive driven a car with a quaife and it felt amazing. Rotated the car with the throttle beautifully. Ive driven a few cars with tight clutch diffs, and found they went sideways earlier than torsen cars due to how they lockup. I.e. they are more predictable but have less outright grip
I've had a Wavetrac since 2013 in my E90 335i and I love it. My car sees 100% street use.
The only way to truly test an lsd diff is under load whilst accelerating on a grippy surface as even an old worn out lsd will still work whilst under no load and even with a new lsd setup they will wear out prematurely with a lot of torque I went through 2 in my vl turbo within 10000klms as they just can’t handle the increased torque levels I then went to a tru track centre no problems now hopefully the bmw lsd will be stronger for you
Where do I purchase this kit ? Or what LSD do you guys best recommend to buy for a project build to just throw around in corners and do small donuts?
If you turn right at mooloolah lights and head towards land borough. There is a u turn facility. You can then line the lights up :) my local test track 😂😂😂 just gotta make sure no fuzz at the servo first
Si glad you did this mod, to many people mod these cars and forget this important mod. It needs an lsd. Gj
Looking back at the footage i was genuinely surprised with how it didnt spin up in second. its made a massive difference.
Looking forward to the times, i wonder if my DCT has the same diff, more money to throw at the beast😆
It’s only money haha. The DCT cars are still an open diff. But yours will be a big housing one, like what the manual cars have.
Should have been first job,so pleased it worked, diffs worth twice what you paid now ,sell it to finance ATB before that beasst frazzles it ;)
Seems like one of those moments when a diy actually works out and you’re impressed and shocked when it doesn’t go to shit. Is that the stock exhaust as well?
axle back is defs aftermarket, not sure about the rest of it tho
You should also get a diff brace
this
Maybe time for some high profile drag radials for some real grip?
The stock ECU might be somewhat predictive in its eLSD application. Steering angle, wheel speed and throttle input would be input factors?
Possibly, but ever thought about different surfaces? If it was programmed to predict the ecu would need to know how much traction the surface has available.
@@ZeroTo60Tube Yeah true. Was just a thought. Some cars will have real problems going from an open diff to an LSD.
I'm fairly sure the XR6 Turbo and G6E are notorious for it. Swap the turbo pumpkin into the G6E and the ecu hates it.
Have you coded the LSD into the car yet? I wonder if there will be any noticeable difference.
Do you know what % lockup and preload the lsd unit was set to?
I don’t, sorry.
Hey with the spark plugs you have do you recall what they are or if they are one or two steps cooler?
Hey man, the ones currently in the car are 2 steps colder. I have ran both. Switched to 2 steps colder when i fitted the hybrids.
@@ZeroTo60Tube thanks I have the hybrids now also and have a misfire up high in the Revs while WOT . So have purchased new coils and step 2 cooler plugs hopefully that'll sort it. Injectors are index 12 so hopefully I'm fine there. Do you recall which ones you bought for your car for the step 2 cooler? Do you know what you gapped yours to as well? Sorry for all the questions
I'm curious will LSD diff work on 335xi (AWD) if you disable xdrive with the *Xdelete* app?
Mechanically it should. however getting the DSC system to work with it may need some tweaking.
@Zero to 60. How much did the 330 diff go for if you dont mind me asking?
It was $800aud, which is the cheapest I’ve seen an LSD pop up.
I have the big rear diff (like the auto ones before 07) as i have the manual one... would anyone happen to know any bmw i could just swap in? Or at least swap the differential parts like this one? I know the inner differential part is larger aswell... cant find the info on Google :(
If you are based in Australia, definitely worth contacting diff lab.
Did you end up coding out the E Diff? I just did an mfactory helical on my E82. Taking it for a test tonight after work. Some guys say coding it isn’t necessary because of what you mentioned. Others say to do it.
I did code it out and it made no difference at all. However the clutched diff is next level compared to a helical
@@ZeroTo60Tube I’ll have an eval tomorrow. Anything is better than the open diff at 500 horses.
🤙🤙🤙
0-100 100-200 test😁👍
What year is your car? From what I can tell it's pre FL so 07-09? I've had 1 E90 07 and 1 E92 07, never had any problems with the wheels braking when losing traction etc. I think that came in late 08 models.
I saw in a vid he says its an 07 and his brakes loose all day because he has those beffy factory style turbs probably pushin close to 600 with ethanol. Pretty sure all the 335s has open differentials just the pre late 07 ones had the manual transmission rear diff until 07 and they started welding the diff parts instead of bolting it together like the super early ones... mine doesn't really brake loose either since i got my new pilot sport tires, but i only have jb4 and intake.
@@fatguyonalittlebike3336 I was talking about braking as in introducing brake force. Some 335i's which tend to be later MY's have some sort of anti-spin function where it brakes the wheel losing traction or something.
@@Zalle335 ohhhhh i see thought u ment breaking traction. Ya i hear most bmws use some sort of, what i heard being called, "e diff" that uses brakes for the spinning wheel, its not really a diff at all though. Edit. Wonder if you would have to disable that whole system if you put in a real diff...
So it’s a 07? Was it big diff or little diff ? Mine is the same and I don’t want to crack the cover open if I can help it , cheers
Little diff. You should be able to tell by looking at your housing.
What exhaust set up do you have on?
VRSF downpipes and a milltek cat back.
Both wheels are suppose to turn with a 1.5 way LSD.
All 335i must have Lsd
It transforms the car
Anything with a bit of power should. This clutch diff, does feel very aggressive compared to a standard M car diff, but even still, it makes the car so much more predictable. I felt so much more comfortable letting it spin up than when it was an open diff.
@@ZeroTo60Tube true
On my e30 i have 3.91 lsd 25% lock
It makes the car so much better in any ways
Btw what kind of diff oil you use ?
Using Penrites recommended oil for the stock diff, apparently its compatible with all LSD's. However i was worried about how it works with clutches. After the first drive, i think its going to be fine, but it is something i need to monitor.
How much power is the car making in this video?
It was around 580-600whp (Aussie HP) at this point.
Did you say you would code it in? How do you do that?
I haven't done it myself yet, but from what i have read with NCS expert you code the car so it disables the electronic diff.
@@ZeroTo60Tube You need to code it out, it will help alot on dsc behavior. Protools can also be used to code it out.
does this diff make any noise? or does it drive like standard diff?
I hear it if i load the rear end up in a car park. So accelerate while doing a sharp turn. Other than that its quiet. However you can feel it a lot more than a normal LSD. Its meant for aggressive track driving at the end of the day i guess.
@@ZeroTo60Tube much appreciated for your answer, many thanks.
Where did you get the m factory diff from?
It was second hand, however it would have more than likely come from Difflab.
@@ZeroTo60Tube I have the same car, where could i find one second hand??
Come on man drive, drift on corners day and night difference that was my first mod to this car
Hey, I’m a tiny bit confused, is MFactory an aftermarket brand or is it made by bmw
Aftermarket. They don’t just do BMW stuff either, but I also though it was the diff from the m cars when I first saw the MFactory brand.
@@ZeroTo60Tube Correct, we manufacture diffs for a wide range of cars, from helical or Plate Diffs and are widely used around the world in both street and race applications. we also do close ratio gears for selected models. www.teammfactory.com
What is a lsd diff for can someone explain?
It limits the slip between the two rear wheels.
@@ZeroTo60Tube can you drift with it? Or do you need something else for that
@@tbsxninjazxnl6836 not serious drifting from what i have heard. But the odd slide on the street you'll get away with it
@@ZeroTo60Tube thanks
Can this diff drift? Haha
It just needs an exhaust now
I agree, it's way too quiet. What do you think is a good bolt on option.
I think the gs did better hoops 😂🤦♂️
Next up, manual swap. :D
I think this will always be a an auto or maybe DCT. But i do want a manual n54. One day.
8:42 Pffft
I’m so upset I just seen the thumbnail for the next vlog... 😳😢

I just want to see if it explodes or anything weird like that...lol
legit!.... i really didnt know what how that diff was going to respond.
@@ZeroTo60Tube I'm glad you'll have an easier time putting the power down.
Awesome. Now code out the factory ediff and all the other nonsense, brake temp safety, etc

What !!!!!! it not work, it must slip after 120Nm
sorry diff its ok ,but preloud is very less, maby 0Nm,
You’re making this build look too easy......either you’re just one lucky bugger or there is a level of skill or support you’re not telling us about.
I’m pretty sure you didn’t change the pinion with the ring gear? How can two different worn gears seemingly work perfectly together with zero noise? Could it just be the quality of the bmw components that makes this work so well? Like I said before I had 3 diffs fail in my xr6t due to loss of pinion preload which where factory assembled Dana units. To bolt a diff together literally in your shed from two diffs and for it to work without whine 👍
Missed the bit where you swapped the ring gears! 👍
Ahhhh glad you found it, sorry i didnt reply earlier... however i think you jinxed me with this comment... typical.
The click bait on this one is just.. cmon dude. "Photoshopped?" And sad smiley and u say it's good. No footage of hard driving or even a burnout.
Disappointed man. Wanted to see a skid😞
ha..... i hear you! ok, soon.
Zero To 60 bloody legend. I’ll drink to that, loving the e90 build, really quality stuff. Although nothing quiet beats my e46 😉
