    You will need to get into ista software and code the stability control for lsd. otherwise your brakes will be working overtime with that new lsd. Great job with this build I am inspired by these videos to break out the tool box and start modding. Cheers

    I wonder if it would have been worth throwing those seals in the freezer for a couple hours before install. They may have slid in easier.

  • @Fix_It_Again_Tony
    @Fix_It_Again_Tony Před 4 lety +1

    Looks good. Interesting information about the ball versus the roller bearings regarding fuel economy. I am sure you will be fine with 0.004" backlash. Are the seals supposed to be recessed all the way like you installed them or should the face of the seal be even with the outside of the housing? I think the height is critical because the outer lip of the seal needs to make contact with the output flange.
    I predict you will be very happy with that diff.

    Commenting so the almighty algorithm knows I'm engaged. Great work as always.
    Also, nobody has ever confirmed this with me: is it true that for you guys to get ad revenue, we have to watch the entire advert or 30 secs of the advert if it's longer than 30 secs. That's what I heard. I always watch the full ads to help you guys out, just wondering if it actually helps.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  Před 4 lety

      Dude thanks so much, commenting seems to make such a difference on whether a video gets views in the first day.
      I‘m really not sure to be honest on the ad front. I think the algorithm is so complex, they will take In to account how long ads get watched to work out if the ads are relevant and worth putting on a chanel.

    I note comments on existing electronics,if I turn mine half off Bmw will collect up any monster slides (usefull on public roads and saves sliding into local pubs beer garden whilst sending it to the great adulation of the local Ladies obviously;) I think when turned off completely it isn’t working contrary to other posts,it certainly doesn’t stop the somewhat embarrassing 20+ complete spin outs I encountered early on in re learning mode. Can’t wait for your take on this before you frazzle them clutch plates ;)

  • @br4d101
    @br4d101 Před 4 lety

    When u put them seals in mate u put them in far to far, the centre of the seal is meant to be flush with the top of the diff so when u put in your shafts it seals properly on them, hopefully they don’t leak past! Cool video though! Never knew u could use the tapered bearings, probably a lot better than the standard ones!

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  Před 4 lety

      Ahh shit. I’ll check that, the shafts had a metal trim sticking out, I wanted to make sure it cleared the trim.

    • @br4d101
      @br4d101 Před 4 lety +1

      @Zero To 60 I think they’re also meant to be flush so the oil goes right through the bearings so they’re properly lubricated, that metal trim on the output shafts shouldn’t get in the way of the seals, there should be a collar on the output shafts around 15mm that slides into the seals, the content you guys are banging out is great! Your not far off now where I am with mine, I’ve got silicone outlets I’m now installing, I done inlets a few months back, I also put a catch can, upgraded pcv, and the plug so the oil cooler is running all the time as its temperature controlled and causes restriction! M3 strut brace and control arms are another good mod to do!

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  Před 4 lety

      @@br4d101 I'll try and highlight in the next vid how i lined up the seals. They are about 10-15mm away from the bearings. So the gopro may have been a little deceiving. Are you RHD with silicon outlets?

    • @br4d101
      @br4d101 Před 4 lety

      @Zero To 60 yes mate right hand drive, I’ll let you know how I get on fitting them all my other stuff is VRSF or from burger motor sport, my turbos are rb stage 2s, u should be able to see how far them seals went in befor from the rust ring you’ll have from the old seal, I definitely didn’t bang them in as far as you did though!

    Also check the last part of your driveshaft (that connects to the diff input shaft), it blew on mine and had to replace it due to vibrations. It's a weak link in the 335i drivetrain.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  Před 2 lety

      The clutches will eventually wear out and need servicing, but i cant find anyone that has worn them out. This one is only using half the clutch plates and is quite aggresive, so could run it this way to they start to not grab as much then siwtch them around.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  Před 2 lety

      Hey man! A lot of BMW guys don’t agree with me, but I’m not a fan torque wrenches. Just learn how tight things need to be to stay tight and send it. The only thing I really torque properly are head bolts.
      These ring gear bolts. As tight as you can do them with a 3/8 normal length ratchet and 12pt socket should be sweet.

    how well did this diff hold up, i build 9inch, borgy and m80's and that seems very tight back lash from anything we run the other guys have always built the bmw diffs as i do more of the fabrication, also the preload on the pinion if needed to be held with the vice grips and the pre load on the carrier seem very low from how little effort you needed to move the crown wheel, but as i said havent had any hands on with the bmw diffs

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  Před 2 lety

      Man i was flying blind just off what i had read from others DIYing them as well. However it was fine. I ran it for 10 months, it was too tight for the street. Snapped 2 axles which is very strange for an auto china turbo car car. My mate now has this and its going in a much more serious setup. But yeah in regards to backlash, the diff was quiet, didnt knock or whine. Got a bit of a clutch chatter in the wet, but it was fine in the dry when it warmed up a little.

    • @marmo_tv2049
      @marmo_tv2049 Před 2 lety

      @@ZeroTo60Tube yeah 2 thou is way to tight it would bind up when hot, but from memory you did it at 6 which we normally set 6-8 thou, the only thing i could think of maybe the whole diff expands in a way under heat that 2 thou opens up more when hot as i know the alloy housing 9" carriers have issues when running on the street with clearance issues when hot that why mainly only used in drag cars

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  Před 2 lety +1

      @@marmo_tv2049 It's the clutches that were too tight for street use IMO. When the oil is cold they will bite early, and feel like a locked diff pulling out of my driveway. Or in the wet, it got that locked diff feel all the time as the tyres would slip before the diff. But after 10-15 mins of driving they would slip nicely in car parks. Turns out this is why the guy took it out of his car too.....
