    Hundred % agree that most Australian car enthusiast absolutely do not have any idea how slow their car is and only quote that one unicorn 🦄 time from the US on a prepped warm strip in cold weather on slicks after a burnout - and after 400 attempts the best time is forever quoted as ‘what the car does’. They don’t talk about the average time or the worst time. Audi and Porsche are one of the few manufacturers that consistently better their quoted factory times. Perhaps you might consider putting a disclaimer in the description about the way the Magazines etc do their 0-60 times that would just be there for all of your 0-60 videos? Just a thought. I also can't recall if those magazines use prepped surfaces or not. I thought they do but I may be wrong. One thing about the DTC trans. I always, I guess incorrectly thought that because it has the next gear waiting and already selected and it doesn't actually need to disengage the clutch when it changes. But I guess that doesn't really make sense. It must because it would never use the clutch at all then if that were the case I think.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  Před 2 lety +1

      It really only uses the clutches to start rolling. However when the clutch is engaged and it changes gear, the clutches can still slip, as the trans try’s to pull the rpm down on the motor.

    • @valchanovgeorgi
      @valchanovgeorgi Před 2 lety +1

      @@ZeroTo60Tube Indeed clutch one is fully engaged at a couple of kph - it really depends on the xHP tune. On the 6HP you can control the timing to lock the torque converter, should be the same for the DCT.
      As for shifts: I know for a fact that VAG DSG's and Porsche PDK does not fully disengage the clutches inbetween shifts, but rather they retard the engine timing. That's why You get the "DSG fart". Nevertheless, there is no loss of momentum to the wheels - just reduced torque. I believe the DCT in the 335is has the same logic.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  Před 2 lety +1

      Georgi, has reminded me, my explanation there Greg is not a good one. I should have said the clutches are only really slipped to get the car rolling, where the clutches are used on the shifts, it switched from one to the other, while the gears are already locking in place. However it is a near instant shift. Not much of a blend from one gear to the other. When in flat out mode anyway. In the more gentle modes, it will slip the clutches to make the shift smooth.

    Anybody prepared to a guess? I've just ordered a Dragy in order to fact check my 335is DCT. It runs FBO, Quaife LSD, MHD 2+ and xHP stage 3. Rear tyres are ordinary 255/35 R18. I do have some Pilot Sport 4, but I'm not sure that I want too much (going easy om the drive shafts) traction. Engine and turbos have 120.000 km on them. What will Dragy say?

      My guess with those mods (no ethanol?) and normal-ish tyres, 4.9-5.1. With PS4s hopefully around 4.5. Thats dragy 0-100kmh with roll out, no roll out could take 2-3 tenths off.

    First gear only slows you down wasting time building boost then spinning then shifting...

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  Před 2 lety

      I have probably done around 1000 0-100 runs with dragy on the street, never have i ever gone quicker with a 2nd gear start. I always get better times limiting first gear boost and feed the power in once the car is moving. The entire channel was based on street launches originally, i have probably done more street launches acurately timed than anyone else. However keep in mind tyres and road surfaces are all different. My second gear starts will blow the tyres off around 30-40kmh if i have enough boost to do a quick time. I have also had issues with axle tramp and snapping axles when i do second gear starts. However this car is making a lot more power than most N54s our there as well, especially mid range.
