A few days ago, this exact same thing happened to my 2004 Tahoe. But I just disconnect the POS (piece of Sh1t) mechanism! It seems to me that it was made to fail. I put some electrical tape over the plastic plug so it will not have a short circuit...
what is that part called? That might be my problem. I can shift into park. The problem is shifting out of park. I have to really muscle the shifter, and then it went all the way down as far as it would go and only shifted from Park to Reverse. I moved it up and down and did get it into drive, but it won't shift beyond that. And it still takes some muscle to move the shifter.
Hey I kind of have the same problem but mine is a 2010 Chevy Silverado but every shifts works except when I try to go on D it gets sort of stuck or won’t go into it, would this be the same problem as in your video or what could it be?
@@DesGibz sorry I domt check my notifications. But its actually still zip tied i never fixed it. I'll fix it when I have to take all that bs apart again for something else. but until then thats how its gonna stay
@@DesGibz zip ty will hold it where it needs to be till the Electrical actuator actually fails I would leave a zip ty on it will work fine! Years and years I would say !!
Same here, saw this video, bought the part only to find out its still attached. But still having trouble going into park, have to do it like 5 to 10 times before going into park. If anyone has this same issue please help out. Thanks in advance.
I saw a video where the nut inside the transmission backs off just enough to mess up going into park..mine sometimes goes in but most times doesn't.. so I'm going with the loose nut.because it does work once in a while.
Yup.drain the fluid. undo everything just to tighten a nut.and put it all back together..I did everything else except that saved it to last..did it today..so far it's working..but It would work and stop working.so a few more moves of the truck will tell me if I got it right..the nut was loose just enough for the gear to flop out so I couldn't get park all the time.
@@kelsman4520 I'm fixed.i wasted alot of money on a cable, electronics that attach to the shifter. electronics on the transmission and it was just a loose nut inside my transmission..what a pain.
Question I have a 2005 Chevy Colorado Ls 4 cylinder. I drove my truck a day ago and it was fine now when I shift the gears EVERY THING SHIFTS GREAT NO ISSUES THERE But check this out I put it in PARK it parks Put it in R for reverse and it goes no where when I press the gas the RPMS GO UP but that truck ant going in reverse I DROVE IT IN DRIVE ALL THE WAY AROUND THE BLOCK AND IT FEELS GREAT BUT STILL WONT MOVE WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE I checked the fluids it's good NO LEAKING UNDER THE TRUCK what is going on??? HELP PLEASE
Hi. Hopefully this helps but the 4l 60 trans are a quite bad transmission. What Iv had happen to a buddy of mine was you'll have to look underneath the truck at the read wheels. His was on the passenger side. Check ti see if there is oil any where on the axles or the wheels. It is known that the seals blow out and oil leaks on the rear brake shoes and causes it to lock up in reverse. Hope this helps and lmk if it does.
My 2013 Chevy will only shift from park to Drive to M , it skips reverse and neutral . It drives fine and there are no codes going off. What could it be ?
This just happened to me, this video was very helpful!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! actual life saver!
Thanks bud best video
Thanks, now I know what the problem with my 2004 Blazer.

Thank you so much 🙌

What's the part number?
So if that piece of dry rot it that'll stop it from going into park but it can shift into every other gear?
No if it's dry rot it'll fall out and when u go I to park the rod will hit other stuff

I double zip tied mine. This happened to me on boat ramp
can i see how you zip tied it?
Good video, did riley's have that plastic part, or did you have to buy the hole mechanism? Thanks
Sorry for not commenting earlier man. And tbh im not sure i just ziptied mine back as a temporary fix and forgot all about it.
The part is called a shift interlock solenoid. And is 35 bucks and Oreileys or AutoZone
