    Excellent video. If you have no new solenoid, the quick and dirty solution is to remove the 2 wire connector going into the solenoid, this will allow truck to shift out of park without even pressing the brake.
    CZcams and internet is full of idiots that tell you that truck does not shift from park because of the brake light switch. Hahahaha. The interlock shifter solenoid, that gets replaced in this video, will cause your truck to not shift out of park and leave you stranded somewhere. The only problem I had was removing the solenoid from the bracket holding it. Excellent video.

    I personally just lowered mind down so it wouldn't interfere with the shifter anymore. Everything is great and only did this since I can not find a new solenoid anywhere for my car which is a 05 Suzuki Aerio.

    Buenos Dias mi Amigo!
    Great Video! I'm hoping it helps me! I want to ask you, well let me tell you what's happening with MY 2009 Chevy Silverado and I want to know IF its the SAME PROBLEM you were having with your Van in your video please?
    When I go to put my truck into gear after starting it, I have always needed to first, pull the gear shifter slightly toward me (I assume to get it out of gear) THEN pull downward to get into the gear I want to be in (Usually D or R). However when I go to pull downward the shifter will not move. I have to sorta "play with it" a little, wiggling the shifter while I pull downward to kinda find that "sweet spot" where the shifter will FINALLY pull down into gear. I too have been to two shops who do not seems to know much without me paying through the nose for a proper diagnosis. I have come to believe it's the very same shit solenoid issue you show in this video. Were YOU having this same problem with your van? Thank you so very much my friend for your video and any help you may kindly lend.
    Sincerely,
    Larry in Maryland

    Hi. I also need to replace my shift interlock solenoid on my 2001 suburban 1500 but don’t know how to. Would you please tell me how you did it and tools required. I know where it is and have located it. But don’t know the procedure. Thanks in advance.

    So if u just unplug it it would shift into gears ??? When I press my brakes it doesn’t let me change gears

    • @jordanbowes5707
      @jordanbowes5707 Před 3 lety +1

      no, the solenoid give the transmission permission to change, you'll likely need a new one
