I used to fish on the river Trent 😊 amazing to see him visit where I was born
yes.. to cut the mustard is to meet or exceed expectations.
The term mustard is also used in similar context to 'fire', I've heard Americans say "that's fire" when something is good, something being mustard is the same. Also if a person is mustard they might be stern or a good fighter.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this series, cheers guys 👍🏼💯
'Mustard', in this context, is derived from 'Cut the mustard', meaning to succeed or surpass the level of performance. It was first seen in a newspaper article in Texas in 1890s 🤔😜
(Some believe it is derived from 'pass muster')
I thought he meant keen as mustard,
Brilliant guys, SWIDT, next you can have one of the following
How Britain Worked
Speed with Guy Martin
Guy Martin's Spitfire
Guy Martin's Last Flight of the Vulcan Bomber
They’ve already done How Britain Worked
I hope the speed series is next!
Dan Snow made some videos about old food.
On the history hit channel.
He tried old food recipes and diets. From what was eaten on ships in the 1800s.
Too what the Aztecs ate.
It’s worth checking out if you two are interested in food archeology 😊
Brilliant keep on the guy martin worm hole there's lots more stuff 🍻👍🏼 Enjoyed seeing this again something to look forward to on a Sunday Thanks
Guy Martin has done a later series can't remember what channel it was on but remember him doing electrical and nuclear stuff 😮
Speed with Guy Martin is the next one to watch chronologically. I sure hope you give it a go!
Love the reaction to Guy’s stuff. Looking forward to you watching Speed with Guy Martin, if you gyms can get it. Think both of you will really enjoy that series. 👍
6:39 - I once called a Victoria sponge 'Victoria's clunge' for a laugh and the amount of people that took offence to it was unbelievable - someone even said I could get arrested for that as it's a public order offence.
Until the early 20th century, laudanum was sold without a prescription and was a constituent of many patent medicines.
Laudanum is a tincture of opium containing approximately 10% powdered opium by weight (the equivalent of 1% morphine).
Sad it's the last show. My fave project he did was building a WW1 tank to celebrate Armistace & driving it thru the town centre. No spoilers pse. Loads of back catologue projects to react to! Thanks Guys!
You may be interested to know that the snooker world champs are on at the moment in Sheffield. I see there’s an America championship started. I didn’t look well attended but it’s a beginning.
A food archaeologist research old forgotten recipes and it’s impact on cultures
Guy Martin speed is a great series
have a look at Guy in Japan, Columbia, India, ...
I love India but Japan is probably the best of them. Russia/Chernobyl and exploring his heritage in Latvia were great too.
Really enjoyed watching this series again with you lads, please watch Guy at Pikes Peak, you'll love it ❤❤
Word of the day "Coproliths" ;)
Also, mustard is hot, so I think in modern thinking it could mean "I'm hot at this".
As with a lot of phrases there use and meaning morphs over time, like "he's the goat". A goat is an unpleasant animal that has a tendency to be aggressive, so fuck knows where that comes from.
You don’t get a bar bill now in the UK (unless you’re a regular maybe), you pay for every drink as you order it unlike the US
for me not specifically afternoon tea ,its anytime tea with either or and biscuits cake or a sandwich
Please do the guy martin in India episodes. He rides around on a royal enfield. Very cool! Cheers boys!
Another amazing reaction guys, well done.
Is it just me... or does Spencer look like Chumley from Pawn Stars? 😅
Wait till you see Our Guy in Colombia
Check out Speed with guy martin. Is a good watch
Fellas, we can eat that steak
Actually your not wrong about cocaine, you could buy cocaine, heroin, cannabis and opium at your local pharmacy over the counter during Victorian era. Fun facts 😉
If you schedule these uploads about 6 hours later, you'll go up in early evening time UK. Just an idea.. it might help.
FYI this video went up at noon in the UK, I'm suggesting 6pm might be better.
@@Kris_T_ don't get them to delay videos! haha
Are yoy gonna try go for a game of snooker when youre in the uk?
oh yea, sure, i have afternoon tea every freakin day! with tea and crumpets, scones, flapjacks, mars bars, whiskey...🤣
Afternoon tea is not really a thing for most.
However, an afternoon tea at a posh hotel if you happened to be visiting London (say) is worth a try.
It will wreck your wallet though... 🙂
I think opium was more popular
I don’t have afternoon tea but my mum makes the best lemon drizzle cake, I could eat a whole one of them for afternoon tea 😂
