yes.. to cut the mustard is to meet or exceed expectations.
The term mustard is also used in similar context to 'fire', I've heard Americans say "that's fire" when something is good, something being mustard is the same. Also if a person is mustard they might be stern or a good fighter.

'Mustard', in this context, is derived from 'Cut the mustard', meaning to succeed or surpass the level of performance. It was first seen in a newspaper article in Texas in 1890s 🤔😜
(Some believe it is derived from 'pass muster')

Dan Snow made some videos about old food.
    On the history hit channel.
He tried old food recipes and diets. From what was eaten on ships in the 1800s.
    Too what the Aztecs ate.
It’s worth checking out if you two are interested in food archeology 😊

6:39 - I once called a Victoria sponge 'Victoria's clunge' for a laugh and the amount of people that took offence to it was unbelievable - someone even said I could get arrested for that as it's a public order offence.

Until the early 20th century, laudanum was sold without a prescription and was a constituent of many patent medicines.
Laudanum is a tincture of opium containing approximately 10% powdered opium by weight (the equivalent of 1% morphine).

Sad it's the last show. My fave project he did was building a WW1 tank to celebrate Armistace & driving it thru the town centre. No spoilers pse. Loads of back catologue projects to react to! Thanks Guys!

Also, mustard is hot, so I think in modern thinking it could mean "I'm hot at this".
As with a lot of phrases there use and meaning morphs over time, like "he's the goat". A goat is an unpleasant animal that has a tendency to be aggressive, so fuck knows where that comes from.

You don’t get a bar bill now in the UK (unless you’re a regular maybe), you pay for every drink as you order it unlike the US

Afternoon tea is not really a thing for most.
However, an afternoon tea at a posh hotel if you happened to be visiting London (say) is worth a try.
It will wreck your wallet though... 🙂
