Notice than when Lance Stroll's car came in after a crash that Guy was straight in with a spanner (wrench) helping take the damaged parts off it, he was right in his element...
This series is top notch I'd highly recommend and hope you catch all of it, Guy Martin is a propper legend of a bloke! I'd also highly recommend learning about Sir Frank's incredible story in F1, absolute Legend of the sport who built the team from nothing in the 70's. RIP Frank
If you watch this Speed series from the beginning you’ll learn a lot about things you probably took for granted before too
That wasn’t a company vehicle, that was Guy’s beloved Transit Van
the ones you saw, on track, when they found out guy was doing pit stops, were all british racers themselves, some with incredible history,
John Surtees and Mike Hailwood were both Motorcycle champions and F1 drivers.
They both raced at Isle of man TT and LeMans24hour.
Surveys became F1 world champion and started his own F1 team which Hailwood drove for.
John Surtees is the only man to have been a world champion on two and four wheels .
@@tonic8945 Correct.
Guy Martin Last Flight Of The Vulcan ... the Vulcan was Britain's nuclear bomber and is one i think you would really enjoy . 🙂 .
David Couldhardt certainly knows who Guy is. He once did a special race in a Red Bull F1 car, against Guy on his superbike. If I remember correctly, David did 4 laps & Guy 3, but still pipped him at the line. The bike has better acceleration off the line, & top speeds were probably even. It's the ability of the F1 to not slow down for corners, but go almost flat out that makes the difference.
Red bull did 2 double-stack (2 cars immidiately after each other) in one race this season, none of the stops were more than 2.1s...these pit-crews are crazy.
Most F1 races have a pit lane speed limit of 80 KPH, which is fractionally under 50MPH. Oh, and this series is ace! Keep it going. Cheers!
What you were talking about with the open wheel invasion there is a reason why SVG is so special, he can race anything open wheel and stock cars.
My dad worked for Honda, they had some of the factory crew working with one of their the touring car teams, he said the guys who did that it was a year long commitment. I can imagine f1 is another level again, the touring car team only took the fittest and smartest engineers from the factory.
Depends on what era of touring cars. During the super touring era..... THAT era of touring cars was another level
@@insertgenericusernamehere2402 He worked at honda for 30 years, and honda had two teams the main Honda team that was permanent full time racing team, but they also had a secondary team that did fairly well in the middle of the grid, they were the ones that used to use engineers from Honda uk at Swindon, It was a talent spotting exercise by Honda as guys who did well were bumped up to the works team.
@@lewisb85bloody hell he's seen the ups and downs of the sport then, Williams F1 team used to provide engines for Renault back in the late 90s so you can imagine how chaotic they had it back then.
@@insertgenericusernamehere2402 It wasn't just engines, Renault wanted to improve their position in the BTCC so they got Williams (who they were engine providers for in F1) to come in and help manage and restructure the team, part of it was they let the Williams engineers loose on the engines. It's funny because a lot of guys who were apprentices under my dad ended up in places like McLaren (both sports car and the racing side) and one of them now works in formula E. I was more interested in Aeronautical engineering so ended up in the RAF and later several aircraft museums, although I love motorsports.
@@lewisb85 oh that's cool I remember meeting a lot of the 90s super touring guys, one of the standouts being Jason Plato and although a lot of people think he's a smug bastard, whenever I met him he was lovely.
The ultimate team player.. .. a person who not only talks the talk, walks the walk, but will NOT do the task unless he knows he is at the very least as good as the next person.. and Guy Martin IS that person in everything he does
At last the Speed series
It's safe to say Williams weren't one of the top teams back then but even still...wild stuff
Great series guys you will love it
Have you guys seen the Red Bull Pitch Black Pit Stop from like 6 months ago, they have mostly taken over as the team with the quickest average stops challenged themselves to do a sub 2 sec stop in complete darkness 🤯 not a long video 7 min but worth the watch.
The Williams wheel-nut was an industry seceret for year
F1 did used to refill average ~ 8 seconds
Stroll's father reportedly paid Williams $80million just before his son's debut drive in F1.
David Coultard knows guy very well, they went head to head in some challenges with David 8n an F1 car and Guy on his TT bike. It may suprise you have well Guy did
Never been interested in motor sport, but this docu has gained my respect.
I still say guy should of been one of the new top gear presenters after Clarkson, Hammond and may left.
He was approached, he didn’t want to do it
@@vaudevillian7 I know he was approached to do the reasonably priced car but said no, as to actually doing top gear he said he didn't want to be the man to replace Clarkson but never say never.
@@yeovil07 It was around the time he got busted for speeding so star in a reasonably priced car might not have been a good look for him, according to the interview he gave in the times. Heart of gold guy, seriously thinking about the message that sends if he was to end up on top gear driving fast months after getting busted for speeding.
If there was anybody in this video who knows how important a good pit crew is in this video. It might be Damon Hill,
Graham Hill is father I think is the only driver too do THE TRIPLE CROWN in motor sport.
Indy 500, F1 and LA MANS..
Hey guys great reaction as ever Guy Martin is an amazing man who will try anything check out the Pikes Peak Hill climb he did or his world record on the wall of death or his bicycle speed record,
They need to bring back refueling and ditch the ghey electric motors.
Hey guys eurovision song contest on
Watch all of the “Speed” shows 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I know this has nothing whatsoever to do with racing but, I'm new to your channel and love your reactions to comedy (Graham Norton etc), and could you please check out "Victor Borge" and his comedy scenes. He was a comic genius from Denmark and lived in the U.S. until he passed away in 2000. You will not regret viewing his skits on stage especially with the opera singer. Thank you.
l would like to see that boss go around the Isle of man then be bloody sarcastic
After this series PLEASE REACT to
Iconic engines by guy Martin
Where he takes iconic engines from around the world and repurposes them into other contraptions
Like hand gliders etc etc
That would be great if it was real
I think you should have done h8s World records and cycling before this ,then you would have seen how fit he really 8s watching him cycle till he pukes is priceles
Embrace the suck, are you doing a sport that isn't just turning left?
