Used to do the occasional Night porter shift at a hotel. and it was a great job because it was an 8 hour shift with 4 hours of work in it.

This TV series is the first Guy did for the BBC. After this series, he moved to Channel four.
Something not mentioned here is what those 6 Yr to 10/ 11 olds did dependant on how big they grew did.
Remember where it's said the cotton would break, but the machines didn't stop as they did for Guy.
Those small boys had to climb under the moving machine to pick up the cotton.. it was dangerous some lost limbs some lost their lives, however a small amount of compensation was sometimes paid to keep the parents happy so much for an arm.. a bit more for a death.
Also, they didn't mention the spinning Jenny and the shuttle were also British inventions.

Guy Museum: A lot of Guy's transport stuff was in Scotland at the Grampian Transport Museum. His sister's pub "The Marrowbone and Cleaver" has a load as well.

Honestly if you liked this with a clock tower, you'll love Worst Jobs in History, it's with Tony Robinson (Baldric from Black Adder) the show does what it says on the tin, he does a whole load of horrible jobs from different eras

Hello boys. Knowing how much you like Guy Martin this is a must see video. " Can Guy Make it in an F1 Pit Crew? The FULL Documentary " This gives you a behind the scenes of F1 and how much normal people don't know about the sport. I hope you will watch it.
If you copy and paste between the "" you will get the right video.

What most people today forget is that "childhood" as we understand it is a recent invention. Until schools (in the west) for all became a thing at the beginning of the 20th century children were expected to work to help the family survive. Indeed many ordinary/poor people of the time resisted sending their children to school, at least initially, their kids were needed to help bring in money for the family - especially boys.

Guys - that's not 10x kids. That's 10x SURVIVING kids, that made it to the age they could work in the factory... and in those days, not all pregnancies, infants would have survived.
Got to say as well: if you don't want10 year old kids working in factories, enjoy a weekend, workers rights, safety and all those kinds of things - Thank a union.
