- Its here, I have played it some, here is my first thoughts on the game and what I have found during my time on Ark.

Ark running on my Xbox series x runs amazing tweaked bunch of the settings. Use console commands to get rid of clouds, but I absolutely love the item transfer now holding a and pulling the trigger to quickly move things from one inventory to a next. All the quality of life stuff just made a game so much better
I agree with you. The potential is definitely there, I just wish Wildcard had added more graphical options in the menus so that we don't have to use commands to get the performance gains.
I live in the clouds, literally speaking, on a pvp server. It goes completely black once in a while and most of the time you have a hard time seeing in front of you anyway, because of the clouds. I can remove the clouds with commands making me see perfectly at all times, however I think it make a very interesting pvp-dynamic to have the option with such a place to build. I hope they eliminate the possibility to remove clouds through either commands or INI.@@mrbobajango7482
I agree, I don't like have to turn things off....Also because its console, they should be able to continue to optimize the game better.

Radial menu is easier now. Its now faster by pressing LT to cancel and RT to confirm. Hope that helps. Game is like ase in that it doesnt explain these well you just gotta work it out.
The coast line is annoying. It works in some areas so id say a bug.
The mods are great tho. Loving the ark additions we have so faf and cant wait for the acro
I figured out the LT and RT on the fly yesterday...I really liked that.
Series S, graphics… to be desired honestly if you use the R. Commands to help with fog and clouds/shadows. It basically looks like ASE but with better features, and STABLE. Which is more than I could ask for
(Kinda sad that’s a happy outcome dealing with Wildcard and Snail)

I got 11 mods added & my stats boosted and still the game on my Series X has not crashed.
Im feeling good that Playstation will also get this flawless feel with ASA..
And ofc we have PC testing & fixings to thank for our console ASA to be this good 👍
Wildcard just announced PS5 on 11/30.
I play on Xbox Series S, I do have a few out of the blue crashes or my game wont save at all or loading back in the next day and have to start over building have a base that I build the day before (that does get annoying and I did report it as a bug)
Overall the graphics are more the less the same as Series X which kinda surprised me, it's the clouds in the night sky that look what you said a oil painting or gainey but nothing to bad.
On the other had the mods are for me a total pain in the behind, have of them wont load in after being installed and sadly to say Netakus map Svartalfheim is for me very bugged and have the stuff wont even load in, let alone I can't even delete a saved game at all so I had to remove that mod which I was sad about.
I am hopeful they get mods working better. The fact you have to reload them every time is a pain, especially when crashing regularly on PC.
FYI the inside out glitch is actually a bed glitch. If you have a tribe mate pick up the last bed you were asleep in. It instantly fixes it

Many people including myself are having issues with the game saving on single player. I’ve also tried the save world command and it won’t save. Hrs lost. I quit and went back to evolved hoping they will fix this issue.
Oh man....That scares me a little....I have not launched my single player game in a bit...That would be a bummer!

a very fair review, i am glad it is as good as could be expected on the console, i am looking forward to the ps5 release and hope it is just as good if not better 😜 (just as good will do though lol) looking forward to the new story of krugg version 2.0 😉

Absolutely....It was fun to finally get to play together!
I've encountered a pretty bad bug several times. It happens every time I use a parachute and then try to grapple myself back to my bird. After that I can't use most buttons on the gamepad and it shows the character in a strange way when switching between first and third person view. The solution is to log out of the server and then log in again. Not the best thing to do because the server gets full often, so you may be in danger and not be able to rejoin the server.
Also the beer brewing does not seem to work.
Is this just Xbox of on PC?

When I first got the game on a series s it was running a little rugged but I guess they fixed that throughout the night and then now I'm having the issue with saves being rolled back if you perform certain actions in the game. I'm not sure what actions they are but I accidentally exit the game while I was flying and I came back in and ever since my save was getting rolled back. Other than that it runs pretty smoothly. Looks oily like you say but I'm sure in time they will fix all that
Fingers crossed. I have heard a lot about server roll backs being an issue.
Anyone knows if the difference huge between the series s and x? I have the series s and the performance is very bad. And when I use all commands the graphics looks very bd
I have heard its significant. The X has a lot more power to run these next gen games.
The only gripe I have so far is items I put into say storage or smithy aren't showing up, I can't craft bullets or much else, anyone know how to fix this?
Oh no....Thats horrible.
The reason you did not experience so many problems is that when the game or updates is released on PC first, a good chunk of the problems are found and fixed before it is released on console. PC is the testing ground for a lot of the Ark releases and updates and is far easier to fix before being released onto console. That is actually a known thing. To bad the graphics are not as nice though.
One thing I do when playing with others is that I use Discord on my iPad to chat rather than on my PC. I find it much easier that way but everyone needs to be on Discord VC to be able to communicate with each other. It does work while streaming btw.

Well its also more with the consoles there is no variation in hardware so its much easier to fix and adjust things, where as PCs are much different and make the process much harder.
Yes, Xbox being released a months after PC definitely gave it time for the patches to fix most of the release problems from the PC.
Thanks PC players for helping us Console guys! LOL. I have to figure out the discord chat on xbox. On the last stream I had hopp in my ear but no one else could hear him. It was odd.

I noticed that! It happens all the time. It’s especially noticeable around water.

The only think that I don’t like about this game is that nothing moves, when you walk in water, it dose not move, same with the bushes, I’m on Xbox series s because I’m broke lol but other then that Everything is amazing, dawn and dusk is not good to look at but other than those two, it’s very good
I noticed this a little between Console and Pc. Seems like an area they changed to make it work.
well lets hope it works better on other maps like ragnarok or high demand maps like val or crystal isles, the island map is tiny compared to all others except the center map. all these current issues with pretty flowers and so forth just imagine the other maps. online play sucks. i am back on ase .
I agree...I hope they can optimize better as they go along.

I have not clocked my FPS...but I never saw a noticeable dip.
It says it supports VRR. VRR only works over 40fps. But it’s only 30fps?
Not trying to be clever, I have literally no idea as I’ve only learned it launched today.

I’ve seen footage of a Series S getting 55 to 60fps but also an XSX with some things like volumetric effects turned off only getting mid 30s!
It’s totally amazing that a UE5 game with a very complex open world has launched on consoles using all UE5 features including lumen (they usually don’t on console) and digital foundry is nowhere to be seen!
I think it’s the most hardcore use of UE5 on a console so far. Digital Foundry? Hello?? Anyone home??🤓
I he a a be change my settings and loses my progress and crashes a lot I am gonna try play it regularly
Hopefully they keep working on this and it gets more stable with time.

lol you should be in Europe and UK and try the game with over 200 ping.
Seeing as there are no servers in Europe.

You can as long as each are on the server.
My series s has crashed four times during playing on servers. Even official does it, so it’s not mods. Sigh.

Game isn’t that great on my series s, gonna invest in a series x for ark, but I refunded ark and will wait 2 or 3 months and see if the game has improved by then
I would like to think it will only get better with time.

The thing is though I keep finding high level creatures like a 150 Rex, 130 thyla, 145 dire bear, and a 135 spino I don’t wanna Dino wipe and get rid of them, I have the stuff to tame them but I don’t have the time. I should be able to just knock them out and come back later to finish the tame.

But atleast you know you can tame them without losing the save
Just logged back on after trying that and it kinda worked. I tamed the Rex did the wipe and got off, logged back on in the same spot but the tamed Rex disappeared and half of my inventory is gone. Tbh, the game is just sh!+. Wildcard only released this game to make money which I was fine with but I wish the game was playable. I don’t know what’s worse, this or the new walking dead game (the both cost around $50 USD)
I refunded it and I love ark.. I’ll wait until the end of summer or next year at this time so all these silly things should be fixed

LOL!!! Its honestly, IMO; just ok. RED Dead 2 from last Gen looks better!
The reason Ark ASA is not on ps5 yet is not wildcards fault cleary, seems it does actually run very well now on xbox and pc, it just seems to be a sony issue.
It runs at 30-40 fps and dips below that. It's supposed to be 60. If Sony blocked a game with this bad of performance, good.
Luckily it sounds like it is releasing in 2 days!

@Nerdboy81 I try to play legit for the most part but was truly just wanting to know what it would take to break it and it held up much better than I've been seeing pc player's games

I am ok with a consistent 30FPS, as long as it never drops. I can't really tell the difference anyway. But hopefully with more optimization it will get better.
xbox is basically on low computer settings. even low on pc looks amazingly better than the original ASE. That said this doesn't bode well for future dlcs
Hopefully they can continue to optimize the game further.

I was wondering as well, when you played the xbox version was it day 1 brand new server? meaning were all the bases small thatch and wood when you were playing, because I played on pc on a brand new server and my ping was great at 40-60 but after a week or so the ping was up to 120 and i was getting a lot of lag /still am, seems to be this way on every server on pc. perhaps do another video in a week or two to see results of that nature?
@@saturnargentavis1901 actually the server has been around since day 1 PC. But it’s private so 12 people on it. But they all have big bases.

I think it looks worse then it really does because of my capture card....For instance some fo the screen tearing is not happening while playing, just recording. On the X it looks pretty good...Not as good as a high end PC but pretty good!

It looks a lot better...Are you playing on PC, Series S or X? Its not perfect but it does look pretty good! I have gone back to ASE recently and could tell a difference pretty quick.
