    "You are not the hero" is going to be the most important thing people need to temper their expectations on. There is not going to be a Big Bad Evil Guy, there is not going to be a disaster to save the world from. This game will not have a "THE story". The game will have stories, and most of them will be told via your gameplay choices. It's going to have missions and quests, sure. The world we start a game in will have a compelling history and lore, absolutely. But the "story" that gets told will be via emergent gameplay storytelling. Your adventures in the world ARE the story. Be prepared to be a writer, not a reader.

    Sean was a little subdued when he introduced Light No Fire, I think he remembers the Launch of NMS.
    The hype train is being created by the gamers this time, I have noticed that there is a group of NMS fans that like to speculate on the next update, and hype up what THEY think will be included.
    If only half of the stuff in the trailer is there, that's ambitious, I will play it the same way I play NMS.
    I live on the very edge of each galaxy, I spent hours warping as far as I could away from the core to get the address in Euclid, and use the same address in each galaxy, spend a week exploring the area drop a return base then move on to the next galaxy.
    I was surprised you did not cite the Traveller in Destiny when you saw the giant sphere.

    NMS is single player with co-op and is also an openworld survival sandbox... Just like this.
    I dont expect randomized private server worlds like minecraft. Its likely one massive shared world like the shared universe of NMS. In NMS you can play on worlds solo, but if you give coordinates to that world others can visit and that world will be the same.
    I also think you're underesimating the size of earth.. WoW has a map that is roughly 65 sq miles... Skyrim is like 14 or so... Earth is like 197 MILLION sq miles. A single planet in nms is like 75 sq miles. Think if even that was as densly developed as shown in the trailer. Try walking on foot in one dirrection to simply circle navigate one.. Fully explore an earth sized planet? Without space ships to reach orbit? Not likely.. Not for a very long time. We still ocasionally find things on earth irl... We know what the surface looks like from the air but that is with the help of modern tech.. Dragons will only do so much.
    I wouldnt expect missions deeper than what NMS has, especially at the start. Exploration is the name of the game, not storylines.
    Don't misunderstand, that alone is amazing.. A truley open world you can travel all the way around? Explore in any direction.
    I personally think you will spawn randomly in the world, and those round structures are anomaly equivelants where we can meet up with friends or strangers. Just speculation though.
    People are hyping themselves up too much. Giant crab "it must be a boss!" yea.. Like the sentinel walkers.. Bunnies bow! "must be a deep story!" uhm.. I mean they aren't known for crazy story lines.. Could be tied to NMS but claiming deep quests and stories this early isnt a great idea..
    Hello games can levy what they did in NMS. Dont expect them to throw that out in order to do something crazy or to change design principles... It could be bare bones to start.. Just exploration bit of combat and building.. With updates bringing new systems and depth later on.. Eventually it might match peoples expectations.. But I don't think it will start there. And thats fine.

      I’m wondering if we all start on the same earth planet at first, but as you go through the story there’s a similar experience as no man’s sky where you get the option to go to a different earth for a different experience, especially after seeing the red orb thing that looks like the atlas from no man’s sky, the atlas creates the simulated worlds in no man’s sky lore , so maybe story wise in this game were seeing a continuation of the atlas making something new.
      I’m definitely excited to see how it works and such whether I’m right or wrong with that lol

  • @AustinAirCo
    @AustinAirCo Před 8 měsíci +3

    I don't think procedural the way HG's does it will be different for every player or every time you start a new game, etc. I think you build a base, a city or whatever that will carve out a section on the planet for you meaning that I believe you will be able to share that location for others to visit it. Maybe somewhat like NMS is now where you can build a base and with glyphs and portals people can visit that base. Sean said the world created is essentially big enough to house 8 billion people which is approximate world population now. So thinking about earth, how big the oceans are the land masses, the mountains, the seas and being able to go anywhere on the planet. The big thing is other people build it out, it's not just the devs doing the building. You'll stumble across builds of other people. Will they all be friendly? Remember you're not the hero. Which partly makes me think you're on the menu just as much as everyone else. Will there be some element of destruction? Like maybe a house or town is built then ransacked and destroyed only leaving remnants of it? Just a lot we don't know, but a constant need to survive leads me to believe it's going to have a challenge to it that doesn't go away. The other is a destructable planet, like harvesting trees, stone and such do those resources grow back or is over building in one area of the planet going to place limits on those resources? Hunting for food is another? Fresh water? While that's not a thing in NMS, it is however maintaining your space suit due to elements you encounter. So I would assume this title may have some food / health / water element to it to maintain your characters health among other gotchyas.

    The way NMS does procedural generation is that is is procedural at the development level and not random procedural. NMS is fully procedural but people can go to the same planet without a problem. It is merely created through a procedure.

    I actually like that you were being critical of the NMS formula, Just because the game has improved, and there are a lot of fun things to do now that are very much space adventure like. But it still has a lot of the same formula, It's just a lot more fun now.
    Edit: NMS in VR is still amazing though.

    I hope the map is the same one every time, and when they say procedural, they mean they generated it procedurally but they also added handcrafted elements to it. It really doesn't need to be a new planet every time. Think about how big Earth is. You could spend your entire life exploring every single day, even with modern travel, and not see it all. I'd rather have a huge map that stays the same, so there is the ability to also gain familiarity with it. Also imagine they had that server mesh tech that Star Citizen announced, so they could connect the whole planet and it's all real time and everyone shares the same game world. That would be epic

    • @Nerdboy81
      @Nerdboy81  Před 8 měsíci

      The more I think about it, the more I agree it will be just 1 earth, 1 very big earth! Could be epic!

  • @suhndog
    @suhndog Před 8 měsíci +1

    My thought is that as folks explore, what is procedurally generated will be uploaded, and as more folks discover more things, the world will take shape accordingly.. In essence, the entire 'Earth' will be pieced together. Since each person's discoveries happen in real-time, no one would ever experience a part of the planet that was non-generated.. I'm excited to see how the game generates varying biome transitions.. I also hope that what is generated looks more realistic than in NMS. I love NMS.. but I wanted the graphics to be realistic, and not 'cartoony'..

    Light No Fire - only game in the awards I am looking forward to! But it's a fantasy RPG/Exploration/Survival game, so swords, bows, armour, magic, NPCs, quests, crafting, hunting, keeping warm, etc. But why are CZcamsrs talking about 2013? Because what has that got to do with 2023, Hello Games are much more experienced, for a start?! Why would they repeat history?!

    • @s4ss1n
      @s4ss1n Před 8 měsíci +2

      the fact that they constantly and consistantly updated/upgraded nms game without extra cost shows that at the very least they are concerned with building a game for a gaming community and not for a quick buck. my only worry is it maybe too close to no mans sky than a whole new ip. i certainly hope not and time will tell, but they have always at least delivered eventually which considering some AAA games out there is a long way better than a majority have produced. 😉 i can at least have faith that a real attempt will be made

    LNF is a game you can be hyped for. Sean learned his lesson from NMS. Every trailer for every update after those initial hype trailers had actual things found in the finished update and nothing more. LNF trailer is no different and they are using NMS engine so a lot of things were ready for them already and you can tell from the re-used assets and how things look. They have been working 5 years and considering they had the engine to work with after half of NMS lifecycle the game is probably pretty close to finished. I will not be surprised if he releases in 6 months or a year at the most. Heck CZcams is already playing the trailer before videos now. After the NMS debacle I highly doubt Sean would hype a game that is 2+ years off again. Mark my words, 2024 is the year of Light No Fire. Everyone is on the same planet. The Multiplayer is 99% going to work exactly like NMS multiplayer as again they are using NMS engine. My dude you are worrying about way too much considering they are clearly running on the NMS engine so most of your questions are already answered.

    I'm pretty sure in this case, it'll be a safe bet. What they've done with NMS to this point is amazing, and they won't do what they did the first time. Hello Games has proved themselves enough to bet this'll be great. It's definitely not The Day Before. And them focusing on one to scale size planet should be no problem considering how many planets there are in NMS. I wouldn't question this too much. Also, redo this video when you've replayed it based on the latest update. I can't believe you said you haven't played NMS in 6 updates, smh.

    I'm nervous because although Hello Games has added various missions and questlines into No Man's Sky I don't think that is their main strength and for a new game like this especially with the fantasy element there will be an expectation of a well developed RPG with exciting dungeons with great challenging combat and puzzles. Hello Games and NMS the strength lay in building this incredible expansive seamless universe. I get excited when you talk of starting a new save and being presented with a new unique Earth each time. But I don't think that will be the case. I think it will be one single big Earth that will become populated by players, kind of like Second Life. So my worst fear is a lack of really decent RPG elements, mystery, dungeons, bosses etc and a lack of the great suprise exploration discovery that procedural generation brings as soon as every Tom Dick and Harry has quickly discovered all the biomes and great locations on the single Earth the game is presenting us with. Hoping very much that I am wrong on both counts.

    @bellsTheorem1138 Před 8 měsíci +1

    The description of the game is almost 1 to 1 the same as practically every MMO scam startup (an entire world, sandbox, MMO). But I believe HG will deliver for two simple reasons: They have the engine and tech already in place for generating virtually infinite universes and secondly they have the money to do it.
    Also HG has been on a mission to undo the stigma they received on their NMS launch and horrible PR and want very much to have their first successful major launch. They also have proven that they keep their ears and eyes very closely on the community even if they keep their lips tight and we don't get any feedback. Their record on implementing changes that the community requests is one of the best, if not THE best of any game developer. So start being vocal about what you want in the game now.
    That said, never pre-order if you aren't fully confident in the developer to deliver. Wait for the reviews and playthroughs.
    Personally I'll be buying this as soon as I can. I'm confident they will follow it up with routine free updates even if it isn't perfect at launch.

    Ark, Rust, all those types of online multiplayer "survival" games (yes in quotes for a reason) don't come to my mind when I hear "open-world survival", especially when watching a reveal from an indie company that is known for procedural work and exploration focus. I think of Valheim or other GOOD indie survival games that actually focus on survival aspects and the fun and creativity they inspire- unlike the simply bad, boring, and troll-filled games previously mentioned, whose focus is online-shooter or pvp-base-attacking mentality. AKA low-IQ stuff, in my humble opinion- "Survival for the CoD kids".

  • @billy_cross5580
    @billy_cross5580 Před 7 měsíci

    And see the thing is, there’s absolutely no correlation between no man’s sky and light no fire light no fire is a massive multiplayer online game with a world, decides of the Earth, a single world, the size of the Earth with persistent housing, massively multiplayer with survival and RPG aspects there’s literally I don’t think any RPG in no man’s sky. No man’s skies worlds are procedurally generated when you travel to them, everyone being different they all have their own bi, almost single biome on the planet by the way versus light, no fire, being a real world with almost every biome you could think of from you know cold to hot desert tropical wet there are oceans there’s underwater exploration they’re not the same game they’re just made by the same gaming company and to be fair the world being procedurally generated Doesn’t mean that there’s going to be any procedural generation as we play it means much likes Darfield they use procedural generation because let’s be honest if they were trying to manually create a world that had over 500,000,000 km² of map they would be at that alone for 10 years It’s it’s an unforeseeable task. The next closest size game has about 1000 km² Quinn Falls is claiming 2016 km² but I’m not sure if Quinn Falls actually if it’s out yet or if it’s playable or if anybody has seen it so obviously skepticism should be kept for both games but 2000 km² and 500,000,000 km² which is the size of earth they claim the planet is going to be the size of earth that means 500,000,000 km² in excess house because nobody’s actually measured the earth we don’t have tapes you know that can reach so we’re estimating the earth size there’s no comparison and I don’t know why anybody would compare to either Starfield is a space exploration game. It just lacks any of the concepts of exploration or even really space and that everything is a loading screen going everywhere unlike no sky where you actually fly into space you hit your impulse drives and go to a plan that you fly down to the planet you fly around the planet, without any loading screens in any of it Versus Starfield where you’re constantly with loading screens and the planets are our really there’s no reason to go to most of them and only about 20 or actually useful out of the thousand at least in elite you can go to anything you can see based on how much fuel you have, and how much time you want to spend flying Both of those games start, sky and elite are better games by far than Starfield, but again comparing Starfield to nomen sky doesn’t even make sense because Starfield is not a survival game. Where is no man sky technically is pure survival every planet you go to the reason you go there is for the resources that you can get there for the things that you may find and use there, but this game is RPG fantasy RPG mixed with survival and 500,000,000 km². I’m skeptical on the size it’s not like this hasn’t been done before Ultima online map was much smaller but it had persistent buildings if I placed the house it was there all the time 24 seven 3,65 on that particular server, that’s the one innovative thing they’re doing in that regard is it sounds like there’s going to be one world and everybody’s going to be on it together but the persistent buildings that’s not new that shit is existed since 1990s

      It is hard to fathom the size of the map.....How big it really can be! The main correlation between NMS and LNF is hello games obviously.

    No man's sky didn't have a poor launch because it was a bad game. It was because the internet is full of trolls. Sean said not everything will be in the game at launch. Too many people missed that interview.
    Sean is just a big nerd excited about his project. He talked about all the things they were working on and everyone assumed it was done. Then it launched as a framework for things to come, and the click bait hate videos were everywhere.
    Light no Fire will probably launch bare bones, but I'm guessing Hello Games learned some lessons and it will be further along this time around. I loved No Man's Sky from day 1. I can't wait for this game.

      I figure it will launch better the NMS feature wise, considering they have been working it for 5 years, on the engine the already know with NMS...Either way you know it will be updated and get bigger all the time.

    Say one to one you’re implying that anything of earth is there it’s simply a map right it’s a globe and her size globe which means there’s going to be an excess of 500,000,000 km². I think earth is currently estimated to be about 510, million so as maps go, it’s gigantic but other than that it has nothing to do with earth other than having biomes similar to earth, you know, deserts, and mountains and cold and hot Forest, did you know bones but so do the weirdly populated planets of no man’s sky? There’s nothing earth like relating in them, but they all have a biome each one separate biome every planet is a biome. There’s no difference anywhere on the planet if it’s a hot planet it’s hot everywhere it’s a cold planet it’s cold everywhere. This one’s going to have all the biomes, the only relation earth is the size the square kilometer size and it’s a fantasy role-playing game. It doesn’t matter we’re not gonna know anything about planets.

    You didn’t seen things in the trailer you saw things in the trailer or maybe you have seen but you didn’t from what I seen is grammatically fucked up from what I saw in the trailer but clearly you weren’t watching because in the trailer at one point there are at least eight people on the screen And even if it’s an eight player co-op eight people couldn’t explore our world a map, the size of earth even in many lifetimes each they wouldn’t explore it just like no one is ever going to explore all of elite dangerous world and no one‘s gonna ever see even the handful of solar systems in any space game I mean sure you can fly to one to the next, but exploring the planet seeking out all of the things of interest on a giving planet. You don’t touch you don’t even begin to explore a planet you explore a little bit around your ship maybe if you know something was on the other side of you you might go explore that, but you really don’t get a close look at any planet, the game doesn’t encourage that encourages you keep pushing deeper and deeper into the center or I guess further, and further would be a better word into the center. I mean the magnitude of the explorable area makes it impossible for you to ever explore all of it human beings don’t live long enough, there’s no way a human being on foot or flying on a slow moving aircraft could explore all of earth. The entire human race hasn’t explored all of her yet and we have technology. This is a medieval fantasy game.

    Think there’s going to be a single player game mode on a 510,000,000 km² planet what would be the point of grading a world that size for a single player you couldn’t explore it in 10 lifetimes there’s still parts of earth unexplored literally parts of this planet. No human being has ever set foot on And there are nearly 8,000,000,000 people on this planet yet there’s spots that have never seen a human being. This is an MMO on planet the size of earth it’s going to be meant to house the entire player population they said that too 7.8 billion people on earth they said this game is meant to give all of them a place if they want it, it’s not gonna be multiple biomes. I mean multiple procedurally generated worlds just like there isn’t in Starfield use some common sense K it’s a gigantic fucking planet. It would take them 10 years just to try and populate the whole thing decorate it flush it out, but they can create the tile set Biomes and then let the computer procedure generate the world for them mod like but the dead with the thousand planets in Starfield you don’t think they really hand decorated all of those do you they could barely be troubled on the 20 or so that you make use of to put a few points of interest to handcraft some locations for you to go to on those planets how could they be bothered to decorate 1000 of them much like no man’s sky they don’t decorate hand decorate those planets they create tile sets, and when you fly there, procedurally generates the world from tile set the different year is this world just generated and from now on it will be staticmeaning there’s going to be procedurally generated, earth size world, housing the entire population of the game

      @@Nerdboy81 I hope it's just open PVP, only having "Safe zones" due to players literally making areas where player killing or PKing, is illegal lmao. Imagine someone breaks it, someone reports them to the player council then they set a bounty on the player and a Warrant out for their arrest lmao Hopefully perma death is a thing but also, killing players should legit be difficult, if not by normal game mechanics with health and stamina , then is could just be due to how deep the magic and combat system could be. @Nerdboy81 I hope it's just open PVP, only having "Safe zones" due to players literally making areas where player killing or PKing, is illegal lmao. @@Nerdboy81 It should or shouldn't be on. Sorry, I felt mixed signals. I think it would be safer to play with others. But, if you are playing in a solo mode then getting good at surviving and fighting mobs on your own would work wonderfully when going to the other mode where everyone is together, that's if there are separate solo and open modes, there should be just to be safe rather than sorry.

    That’s nothing about remakes of decades, old games that are great when you keep saying shit like that you just encourage more of that less actual new content game developers need to stop remaking their old games and start using their imagination to come up with some new games that we haven’t already played
