The cluster I used to play on already moving to ASA, I decided to sink with their ASE cluster and start playing on Single Player since I already got the DLCs and have more freedom since I’m not on a weekly schedule to do upkeeps so things don’t decay or get claimed by randoms. I do think ASE should have been worked on more instead of jumping the gun to “rebrand” as ASA. Currently they haven’t fixed issues where survivors may get completely deleted when ascending on some maps such as Aberration and Extinction, especially if your on single player (lost quite a few characters from it), Reloading a crossbow or longneck may not automatically happen as you fire it resulting having to swap it out then back to your hand to get the reload, and some of the taming (like Noglins (even when they “fixed” it)) not properly working, and game just crashing as soon as you leave a server/single player game to the main menu screen. Could definitely be more issues they could of easily improved on before rebranding since they basically left a “early access game” unfinished to only rebrand with an exact copy with slightly better graphics that has all the same issues and more.
I just don’t find ASA relevant, especially when you look at their publishers who are probably using Ark as a crutch and try to get them out of their crippling debt. Even with micro transactions it just looks less like the ARK players loved and more like a desperate cash grab to try and stay afloat all cause of 1 publisher’s terrible (and very idiotic) choices. Wild Card could of been in better hands if things were to play slightly differently in the past but they may wind up dragged down by the very people that bought them, potentially to never to get Ark back up to its former self.

11k hours in ASE, 500 into ASA. I find the current version is just a reskinned version of ase. All the same little glitches are there plus a whole lot more. It's more about surviving the developers' poor work. "Die nerb boy die!" All the best, ty for the content

Even funnier, I've heard that Ascended's new creatures--at least the free ones like Gigantoraptor and Fasolasuchus--are going to be modded into Evolved, and it wouldn't be hard for a modder to create their own discount version of the oasisaur either. Evolved will live forever.

@@Nerdboy81 It's not in Wildcard's hands anymore. Snail Games is afflicted by the modern art-killing plague that is insatiable hunger for money and they don't care where their money comes from.
Anyways, it's irrelevant since there are still so many servers online and anyone can host one exactly how they want it, even making them the same as how the official ones were if they want.
Personally I enjoy playing and replaying fun games casually, so I prefer settings that don't require me to wait for hours/days/weeks because of all those ridicoulously long taming/mating/breeding timers, so official settings have always been tedious to me, especially if playing solo.

A lot of us lost interest in the new ark. After being on a steam server from the beginning, I had 4 imprinted dinos as a base I kept hidden. As the alpha tribe just kept wiping everything and no amount of turrets did anything. Anyway, 1 man on an argie came and killed my 50k hp brontos, by just sitting outside the hit box and attacking their head. I managed to kill him when he started his attack, get my rex and start chomping on his argie. Game crashed, came back in, lost 2 brontos when it eventually loaded in and his onslaught kept coming. I'm probably not the average ARK-player but I think they should get a few official Hardcore-servers out. It's the only mode where it's hard and realistic enough to largely prevent cheaters and large tribes to abuse smaller actors on the server. If they've managed to stop one account from having multiple characters in the upload and perhaps made it so you even only can make one character per Xbox you own, then nobody can attach or raid you without taking a great risk (even if you cheat or use exploits). Eventually the dominant tribe on a server become untouchable, but in true hardcore noone is untouchable.

I think you're too optimistic, especially as you note the exact same issues with ASE are in ASA AND more issues. Microtransaction packs that are clearly pay to win, and all the other issues mentioned PLUS the situation with so many other new survival games and doesnt incentivize players to play/return to Ark. They relied on mods and modders before but the faith based thinking, EA excusing for issues(again 8+ years issues shifted to ASA from ASE is not able to be dismissed by being in EA), etc types of enabling and giving Snail/Wildcard a pass needs to stop. There's just simply no right way to defend the wrong thing at this point.

To me, it seems like Wildcard themselves don't have the best people for the job. Snail Games is one thing, but the actual product is made by Wildcard. And that involves the managers at Wildcard + the devs. It's just not in a good state, be it on the performance side of things or the content.
As you mentioned, RDR2 was made for last gen and it has better graphics + runs SO much better. Yes, Rockstar is way bigger than Wildcard and has way more resources, but Wildcard themselves have been in the game since 2015 and they have made over a billion across their Ark franchise.

The graphics are a good point that I've made to some of my friends. From what I've seen, Ascended honestly doesn't look better by any reasonable margin than some games that are on the older side now, such as Crytek's current flagship Hunt: Showdown; or, as you mentioned, Red Dead Redemption II (yes, I like cowboy shit so those are the examples I'm using).
Snail was INCREDIBLY irresponsible with their finances and are paying the price for it by forcing a game that shouldn't exist. Ascended was supposed to be a completely free upgrade wherein Wildcard would have been able to develop and refine it at a more relaxed pace. It's no wonder that people are still playing Evolved when this remake is a half-baked nothing-burger by comparison.
Worst of all, circling back to the graphical issues, Ascended is physically unplayable by a large portion of the ARK playerbase because of it's ridiculous hardware requirements. People with substantial PC setups are having difficulty running the game, so why bother when Evolved still runs fine? I am happy for all of the people who can run Ascended but they need to understand that this experience is extremely unfair for a lot of us, and not pretend there isn't a problem just because it's fine for them.
To top it all off, Wildcard and Snail failed at transparency throughout most of the Ascended ordeal last year which exacerbated all of their issues. They are not even releasing their creature contest winners in the right order, pushing Gigantoraptor out with The Center instead of with the map it was voted for; and there's been zero word on the Shastasaurus we voted in for The Center. They've been extremely dishonest to their community from the get-go and they deserve every consequence they get.

From what I have seen, ASE has way more players than ASA, nobody wants to play a buggy version of an older game. New graphics do not mean anything when there are way less features.
I played from 2016, and from what I have seen it's the same Ark and I mean that in the worst way, what the hell have they been doing and where has everything they have learnt gone? Sure they had to redo the code and the game, but they had a framework to copy from and knew about the bugs from their own notes. Did they just scrap everything and go from fresh.
And I think everyone is just more interested in Palworld now, is a similar game but just Ark with Pokémon. And the EA runs a lot better than most I have played and definetly better than ASA, the graphics look nice maybe a bit cartoon but I don't need top of the line specs to run it.
I love Ark I really do, I enjoy ASE and how much fun it can be and the effort to put into making and crafting. But I honestly will not buy ASA while I have ASE. ASE is just better in every way.
ASA is a good promise, but with what they have currently, I wont be paying to play that.
And if they decide to scrap it me and my friends play on our own hosted server anyway, so we don't even need WC anymore at that point.
Maybe I am a little heavy handed but it's just like the meme I feel currently "look how they massacred my boy!"

I haven't been able to play Palworld saddly. Hoping it gets on GFN at somepoint so I can play myself. (I tried the Gamepass but doesn't support Key board and mouse. So thats not happening.) That being SAID...2 things that would improve ASA for me for starters. 1 put mods on Steam Workshop! I have been playing ASA through GFN cause my PC can't handle it. But cause of that I have to Reinstall the mods I use. Meaning I gotta remember what Mods I used and install them before firing up the next session. (Not fun! Its annoying!) 2. The Nitrado Exclusive has to end. Let other hosts rent servers cause thats how I have been playing ASE as it works well for me. Sense I now use GFN I can't really change the INI settings which is needed to edit some Mod settings. However using a server host and editing the Mods and Settings that way it takes all the hassle out and both my servers are set. Just those two things for me is whats keeping me playing ASE then ASA. Fire up GFN, wait for all my mods to install cause steam remembers what mods I have, and play the server I want to play on. Simple! Done! PS Sense Playing with GFN I have been able to play with mods I was unable to but now I can. So thats a nice and adds to me sticking to ASE now.😀🦖

It is pretty much a streamer service for games. Let's you play like high end or demanding games on your PC even if it's not the best. By having the game run on a more higher end rig. Plus you don't need the game installed on your own PC for it to work. The game just has to be in their library. Which is why I'm hoping Palworld is added. Been playing ASE on high settings with some demanding mods on high settings through the service and its been great. Just need good internet. As for the controller. I used to play alot of console myself. However after my sister introduced me to Wow during Cata I switched to PC and never went back to console. Trying to pick up a controller again but my muscle memory for it from years ago has left me. So keyboard and mouse has been my more comfortable way to game.

Scrambling to fix statements & comments not being statements 🤦 then they go quiet & not much till drop of ASA but on Xbox show exclusive but not available on Xbox 😅

i totaly agree with the overall comments about the release and consequent releases of both updates and dlc. it was rushed, but in some ways the player base didn't help with the constant nagging and moaning about the lack of release dates wanting the now now now experience. but you are also right that they needed the money to keep their business going and they needed it for the release of ark 2. but they chose badly flawed business plans, especially making nitrado an exclusive server outlet, not optimizing the console releases and stretching out the release of already utilized maps. while it has many quality of life upgrades and modding capabilities, like you im not overly impressed at this time. i am hopeful it improves over time as when it first released (and here is were i disagree a little with some of the older players) it was an empty bug filled experience that slowly became something of an impressive game over a stretch of time. to do a remaster (which is essentially what asa is) should not be as bad as its initial start and to be fair it hasn't been, but it also should not be dragging its feet for the length of time they are reporting. now the real issue is can they keep going when they are indeed not going to gain what they want/need for their business plan. that is may main worry. i still enjoy playing and waiting patiently for the other maps as there still aren't many games that compare with the nature of arks survival elements on console and that is where most of my gaming is done these days. i am not blind to the fact there are many choices to be had on pc, i just wished they would release more of these on BOTH console formats but that wouldn't help ark ascended any 😏

ASA was rushed to get out and because of that the player base has been left the a buggy, prettier version of an old game.
