      Um, I just towel drilled this in the kitchen. Without even throwing a disc I can tell this is the video I needed. The rest of my disc golf life thanks you. This is so much easier to do the walk up with that positive tilt in the x step. That negative tilt in the brace step feels so much more powerful and natural. Only throwing 350 on my best throws. I incorporated that and was just doing really slow walk ups on my tee shots and it was already adding 20+ feet on my backhands. That tilt angle, I like to think of as a plane, not a line ... and the shoulders are on that plane and rotate (revolve?) around the center point in the upper back. This keeps the entire motion of the disc in the plane, pointing slightly up. What I haven't yet achieved the feel for is keeping the disc nose down in relation to that plane. I can do it when the plane is flat, but when I get the plane tilted up, the disc also goes nose up and hyzers off.

    I went out and worked with this drill, and was instantly rewarded with shots that jetted out right on line...that video explained to me how shoulder tilt/turn automatically left the disc in the right place for my weight to transfer correctly .. awesome.

      @OverthrowDiscGolf  Před rokem

  • @bobbybobman3073
    @bobbybobman3073 Před rokem

    Short version: On backhands, should you curl your wrist in towards your forearm, you give your wrist more range of motion to impart more spin on a disk? Or is this just added unneeded motion in the form. Since on a forehand the wrist does a lot of the work, should it be more actively used on a backhand?
    More context: Total beginner here with a very small amount of ultimate experience, I found in ultimate that giving the extra range of motion to accelerate the disc, really helped it fly more stably when I was trying to send one. A more formal wording of this question might be. On my backhand, am I supposed curl my wrist in toward my forearm in the reach back, to offer extra rotation on my disc when I'm teeing off? Currently I am trying to maintain a neutral wrist position in line with my forearm untill the very end where I naturally snap my wrist say 30-45° when viewed from above, during my release of the disc. It feels like I don't have the spin rate out of my hand to keep disc stable over longer drives since from about 60%-80% of it's way through it's shot the disc seems to start a small wobble, and then it does the normal finish left (I am a RHBH player).
    Any advice would be nice, frankly something about snapping through the maximum range of motion on the wrist seems like it would require a lot of force on it when you start getting into higher arm speeds, in order to not slow you down.

    • @OverthrowDiscGolf
      @OverthrowDiscGolf  Před rokem

      The wrist should be loose but not active ideally. In the beginning you might work on actively curling it in but later you want it to naturally break inward.

    • @OverthrowDiscGolf
      @OverthrowDiscGolf  Před rokem +1

      Whether lower or higher you shouldn’t be pulling through yourself. Loads of pros with a high and a low one. Paul’s is pretty high. I’d worry about the spacing and such and let the nuances of how high be fleshed out as you work through those concepts.

    Just to add a quick thing about the Anhyzer, In my opinion, the main reason the trail shoulder and hip is still lower than the lead shoulder and hip is because if it was the reverse your weight shift would be going in the opposite direction of your throw, (your head will always tilt in the opposite direction of your momentum to create a counterbalance), so you be fighting momentum resulting in a lot of lower back pain and timing issues
