The proper solution is to cut those pipes so they are under the water line by 1” or more then it will run 100% silent. Also remove the dumb prefilters.. you’re running a sump with tons of filtration those little sponges are doing nothing but taking up space in your box.
john smith hey John , thanks for the feedback this video is older and I am using a new method . However , I tried your method and no matter how low you cut the pipe the water will just go to that length and still make a noise .
your fellow reefer you use a valve shut off the water to the intake. Let the weir fill up to a higher level.. if your intake and return are properly tuned then you will maintain that water level in the wier/overflow box and as such keep the stand pipes fully submerged. You could go a different route and alter the water level the pipe pulls water from. Long as inlet is fully submerged you’ll have zero noise. This is the idea behind the duriso method. You could actually incorporate that inside the box actually using the second pipe as an emergency overflow as a typical stand pipe but this will depend on your flow rate requirements. You could even do both pipes as duriso intakes but you’re going to have to make them really tight in that little box.
You just put a tap on one hose and close it til it's got no air then open the tap until the 2nd emergency pipe entrance is just slightly below the water. Silence!
So you just added a 1" pipe with cover and put it on top of the existing pipe? I should try this. My overflow noise is driving me insane😁

@@fishrrelaxing9361 i have no valve so thats not an option.

I’d rather rinse off a prefilter then get under the tank to the sump, clean out and replace the filter socks and filter pads.
it will flood like that when the filters get to dirty just put a top on it
josh swanson I clean mine once a week it collects a lot of waste . Has never flood .
The pipes are taller than the box! LOL just a matter of time.
