Even on the news these people have no shame in their game. Do you think some of these are actual disabled people or no?

Fines need to be $500 first offense and go up each offense after!
Why blur the license plates. Allow EVERYONE to see the plates on these cars. Hopefully they will be recognized by neighbors and/or law enforcement. I realize many stores do nothing because they don’t want to upset shoppers but these lawbreaking losers MUST be exposed. It is so incredibly sickening to see this happen all over the country. Make the ticket for violating a $500 fine not a $100 fine.

I report parking spots for Parking Mobility and our WalMart is the daily honey pot. They have a total of 16 handicapped spots and on average 4 won't have a placard.

I have a handicap placard and I would never let my driver park on the access lines.
As you have a driver could they not drop you at the door and then park in a regular spot. Picking you up again at the front door, this might be more beneficial in wet weather as you would not need to trundle across to the handicaped parking area. You could stay dry under the canopies.
And where are the police? And they need to be more aggressive with much higher fines/tow.

I don't know what other state laws are but here in Missouri Police do not patrol mall, shopping center, or apartment lots unless they are called by the owner or owners rep. so they seem to think they can park anywhere. Same goes for expired temporary paper lic. plates. Very frustrating.
The fees need to be raised.
No, a $100- fine don't cut it... I think towing is an expensive experience for those selfish drivers though !
Special kind of gall to do this. I had to use a wheelchair after an accident. It is so hard to get in and out of a car in a regular space.
Here in Toronto Canada the handicap parking fines are $297.50 and....We the People, are petitioning to have that greatly increased.
Then the many mgrnts going there will scream rcsim and the fines won't go up. 😅

I recently saw a video where someone was in the parking lot handing out citations for $450 for illegal parking in handicap areas.
Have them towed!
In the higher end part of my town, there is a supermarket. A lot of wealthy senior citizens shop there. All of the handicap spaces have safety zones on either side. Wide spaces. They are always full. No place for my Rampvan. One lady told me the manager gave her permission to park there. Handicap parking is mandated by Federal law, so he cannot have such authority. I simply don't go there.
$100.00 is nothing. In NY it’s $350.000 to $1000.00, and tags are confiscated.
That will make a difference if citations or given.
I'm just guessing here, but I'm willing to guess that towing the cars and fining the drivers $2,500 plus towing fees would change some of this behavior. I could be wrong, though.
Handicap people dont have big bucks to pay for parking wrong but a 100 buck ticket would do it if it is inforces

The worst one I have seen was a car that appeared to be in one of the 2 HC parking places in a lot for many hours. Turned out to be a non-handicapped employee of one of the stores!!

100 dollars what an insult to all the handicapped people better idea 500 dollars and your car gets towed the problem is todays people only give a damn about them selves common courtesy is no longer taught by todays parents instead its its ok you do what ever you want start towing their damn cars on top of the 500 fine if they get caught twice in the same month their license gets suspended for 60 days oh and the fine is doubled

I’m handicapped, don’t look it, but not all handicaps are visible. However, on my good days I will leave the handicap parking spots available for those who do not get a few good day

Striped area called an "ISLE" and they are NEVER park areas with or without valid tags or placards.
The placards are not for the car !!!
They are specifically for the person it has been issued to. It is illegal for an able-bodied person to go into business while placard holder remains in the car. The entire purpose of having the conveniently located, dedicated spaces is defeated when the holder is not utilizing that purpose.
If a placard is confiscated for misuse reasons, may not be able to apply for replacement for 4 years.

Thiis happens a lot. Many wanted felons draw attention by committing minor infractions.
See it often at a local casino here in ontario, Canada. Spots are very wide (without the hash marks), and people with disabled placards will park over the separation lines and in-between cars parked properly in their spaces, anyone with more than a walker would not be able to get into their vehicle.
I have saw this at my local Walmart that I go to. I don’t parked in the handicap parking spot. I do used those scooter shopping carts for my legs and back.

$100 ticket isn't a deterrent. Make it a $500 minimum fine. I''ve seen cities in California that fined people parking in handicapped spots nearly $1000 and if you had used someone else's placard that wasn't present, it was another $1000 fine on top of the first one, plus they confiscate the placard.
Tickets for Handicap violations should cost more $250.00. An should be written/enforced more often.

I've been thinking it would be great for handicap vans with retractable ramps could have a large sign or bar that swings out several feet from the side of the van (and locks in place) blocking anybody from parking in the yellow lined area next to them.
$100 fine is bot large enough of a deterrent it needs to be higher and possibly a Court appearance
The local PD should have a tow truck permanently standing by. It would be a great revenue source, especially if they raised the fine up to where it belongs, $1,000.00.

Moron in a company truck parked in the cross hatch next to our van at a small grocery store in a somewhat rural area we were vacationing in. Couldn't get my scooter into the van. My driver went into the store and humiliated the offending driver out of the check-out line in front of everyone in the store to move his vehicle. He got in his truck, drove off and didn't come back.

San Diego has a “Get it done” app that allows you to photograph and upload location/time. Best part I don’t have to interact with the perpetrators because they don’t give a shit anyway. I am only temporarily disabled now, but it has always boiled my blood every time I would see somebody parked in the handicap spot that shouldn’t be. Reporting them does make me feel better 😊 especially since they get fines for it
If the law was enforced with a $500 fine for the first time and increased the fine by $1,000 for the
second time. Then $3,500 ect. Another way quicker is to tow the car with all the fines ect.

You waited until the end to say that many of the people parking DO have handicap placards. I have one also, in California. And sometimes to run into a store for 10 minutes I will use a handicap space meant for a van because there simply is no other handicap space available. The answer is not making it impossible for many of us to have spaces available, but rather to have MORE handicap spaces...and raise the fine to $500 or $1,000 to keep the real creeps from using spaces when they have NO handicap placard. A local 13 screen CineMark theater here, has just 2 handicap spaces close to theater, which is a joke.

1:13 The yellow striped area is not for the handicap It's a blue striped area that would be for the handicap yellow nobody's supposed to park in but it's not for the handicap. In the town where I live there's actually two parking spaces that are covered with the yellow stripes but they have the handicap sign in front of them, so it's confusing but I talk to a police officer and he said with my handicap plates if I parked there because the handicap sign is there nobody would give me a ticket But if I parked in the one next to it that does not have a handicap sign in front of it that there I could get a ticket. I have also seen handicapped people park in the striped area next to the handicap spot which is really dumb but they do it because they have a wheelchair lift that would be blocked if they parked in the actual handicap spot but if they park in the stripes it gives them room to get that down, the big problem from that is somebody else that's handicap comes up and goes stupid person blocking handicap spots and then they go ahead and pull into the actual handicap spot and now when the person who has that lift comes out they can't get back in their car. when what they should have done is simply back into the space That would change the side of the space that they need that striped area on and everything would be good. It's too bad people don't know how to back into parking spaces anymore.
This problem could be solved quickly. Instead of a $100 fine, make it $500; but also tow the car and impound it for 30 days. Second offense? Another $500 fine, but the impound is fo 1 year. Third offense? Same fine, but the car is seized and goes to the crusher.
For many of these people, $100 doesn't matter. But losing their car for a month would stop this. Post the penalty, then have a row of tow trucks ready to go. Use the revenue to pay for a fulltime handicapped parking enforcement officer.
The fee is too low there should be a 1,000 ticket and your vehicle gets towed and you have to go to Driving School for 90 days and you lose your license for 3 months 90 days

That SUV that parked in front of the News Crew Even had a Christian Sticker or magnet on their Back End of the vehicle. Seriously??? Yes I was raised in North Carolina and my Cousin lived in Charlotte. Not a Great place way back years ago. Sorry people just my opinion.

I know a couple of people around the country who carry hammers and small clubs in their cars, when they see a car parked in a disable spot and not disable they either hammer a some big dents on the car or crack up the windshilds. NO I WILL NOT SAY WHO THEY ARE OR WHERE THEY LIVE.

The handicap parking scheme is being flouted everywhere daily and some of it is by the disabled persons themselves. The badge should not be used if the handicapped person is not in the vehicle. But I do wonder why the badge is needed if the disabled person is not driving, surely if they are passengers they could be dropped right at the door and then the driver park the vehicle in a regular spot. Then the handicapper spot would be available for those more in need. Also badge holders use the privileges' to gain free parking when other vehicles are available.
So they should go out of their way more than others ? Maybe first take care of abusers first.

Fines need to be $5,000 and the vehicle towed and impounded for 1 year. Driver's license suspended for 1 year. If you are disabled and have a plate or placard and park on these yellow lines, you should have your privledge revoked for 5 years cause you know better and just because you are diabled doesn't mean you can park where ever you want.
