Why are people SOOOO egotistical that even when caught red handed they feel the need to lie to cops.
It's something that's always bothered me long before I got my own disabled parking permit, people abusing these parking spots. I'm just waiting for someone to call me out because my disability isn't as obvious at first sight (no pun intended). I had an accident that resulted in me losing 50% of my eyesight. I park elsewhere if possible most of the time though.
cops can lie to you...see some video of 1st amendment...
I’m not comfortable with you driving with only 50% of your eyesight, just saying.
It’s human nature, the fight or flight response
Why are people SOOOOO egotistical that even when it takes zero effort they still refuse to post the original video in the description?
the guy at the end who says '' well we'll just get another one'' shows how determined he is to be a self-entitled prick.
BINGO
That guy is so messed up. I’ll just get another one? Holy 💩.
I guess he doesn't know they have computer records and NO he won't get another one.
It should start at a $1000 fine!
Thaty would do it!
At least $3000
$350.00 is enough, but also LOSS OF THE PERMIT, permanently.
@@ThomasWLalorI go with the higher fine. Unfortunately, the permit belongs to an actual handicapped person who might not know their AH of a relative was using it for their own benefit.
@@lauriewu-jf5nh The ticket violation may be attached to the license plate, not to the actual perpetrator. The fine then goes to the legitimate owner (possibly the handicapped person).
Anyone who does this knowing that it’s illegal should automatically have points assigned to their license. Subsequent violations equal a suspended license.
Excellent idea!
100%.
shoud seize the car,s
We were in a strip mall yesterday and this poor old man had parked right on the line and he was profusely apologizing as he had his wife who used a wheelchair and needed room on her side to get out into the wheelchair. There was still plenty of room for me to get into our vehicle. But the young couple parked in the Handicap parking 🅿️ were not handicapped and were just Entitled punks. This really upsets me when this happens.
My mother needed a walker to walk, but refused to use handicapped parking as she said she needed the exercise.
I saw a handicap permit from North Carolina which had a photo of the person it was assigned to. I’d like to see that done on all permits. I use a wheelchair for mobility after being assaulted on my job while working as an Emergency Room Registered Nurse. It can be difficult finding a parking space and even more difficult trying to maneuver to get where you need to go. People who abuse the system are rude!
I think a QR code would be more appropriate. A photo might have privacy concerns. A QR code could link to the photo and other info. Of course, the link should only be accessible to to police & parking officers.
Here in the state of NSW in Australia the Handicap Parking tag is like a driver's license with your picture on the front, and you normally get given a suction cap holder so it can be stuck inside the windscreen with the back of the tag facing outwards. A parking officer can use the large-type serial number, hologram,, and expiry date to check the validity of the tag, but people can't see the photograph of the handicapped person for privacy. This would still allow a parking officer to match the tag to the driver if necessary. In my street I did have a parking officer leave me a note telling me my tag was unreadable due to long exposure in the sun and I was appreciative that he didn't just fine me but gave me time to get my tag reissued so it was then readable.
North carolina doesn't have a photo. South carolina does. I live here.
@@bill-nolastnamesupplied-958 my mother's national one issued out of N.S.W has her photo on it but my husband's one issued in Tasmania doesn't. I generally use my husband's plaque even if I'm only driving my mother, since that's the card that's always in my car. It's evident to anyone watching that she is a valid assist if the card was ever questioned.
If I'm by myself I don't use the handicap zone at all because I know how frustrating it can be when they're all in use.
@@nonacee5065 I've added the state of NSW to my comment based on your correction, thanks.
Thousand dollar fine no excuses no lying, and if they protest it, take it to court where the real truth would probably come out
It is INCREDIBLE how hard people will stand and lie even when the entire world knows they are guilty
Their egos wont let them stop
They all do with very very few exceptions.
I'm disabled and I hate when people do this. Thank you for giving them a ticket! YAY!
I LOVE that the fine can be up to $5,000.
But does it ever happen?
@@robertbutler8004 How would I know?
I am a 100% disabled veteran. I have a permanent handicap license plate. I have good days and really hard days. On the good days, I do not park in a handicap space. I realize that others may need the space more than I do. I see a lot of people that have temporary handicap placards throw them on the dash and go into Walmart in their Walmart uniform to work. I see them abused by so many people. I would like to see the placards go away. Only permanent handicap license plate.
i kind of agree with you.i have the plates and i go by the rules.
Even permanant Handicapped lic plates are abused. We had a Temporary that wored part time shuttleing handicapped and was able to get a plate. lo and behold he was parking in Handicapped at work and justified it a being registered to him. Sure as a Handicapped Transport not for his personal use
@thomashopkins2509 I see that maybe a problem. If someone looked at me. What they would not see my disabilities. They do not see the massive scars from stage 4 terminal cancer or the scars from my widowmaker heart attack. They do not know that I have chronic heart failure. I have lived with chronic heart failure for nearly 20 years. There is no cure. It can take my life at any moment. Just because someone's disabilities can not be seen does not mean they do not have them. If you know someone is abusing handicap parking, it is your responsibility to report them. You very well could be saving someone else's life.
The placard is supposed to be portable so it can go with the disabled person, for example if they were being driven by different people. A licence plate is not portable.
That's rather selfish of you. That'd leave quite a few people with temporary issues in a bind. Either that, or there would be an increase in abuse of the plates. Right now, license plate theft is up...at least, in my area. Nope, not a solution.
I did use my husband's placard once when my bad knee had me on crutches for a day but other than that, never. When he passed away, I returned it to the DMV.
Well done!!
@@angrydriversattack 😻😻
This is nothing new. It's been over 35 years ago now. I was verbally reprimanded by the company I worked for when I approached an employee who admitted the car she was parking in the handicap place in front of the office belonged to her uncle along with the handicap tag that was in it. I called her out on it, she filed a complaint with the company, I got chastised by management and told to ignore it. She continued to do this right up to the day she left the company.
@mikeslater6246 You should have "filed" it with the police before doing it with a don't-give-a-damn company or at least after you were forced to ignore it.
Should have called the cops.
Whenever I see an unauthorized person parking in a handicap spot, I call them out on it.
If I had my way, the fine would be a minimum of $1000 (American, not Canadian).
lol , I laughed at the American no Canadian !! 😂😂. Thanks
It would stop a lot of people
There's not that much difference between US dollars and Canadian dollars. As I'm typing this, the exchange rate is 1.35 Canadian to 1 dollar US.
I live in Montana, just 60 miles south of the border with Canada. Quite often, businesses in Montana will offer "at par" (1 to 1) exchange rates to attract Canadian shoppers to their business.
@@TomCat13461 So the Canadian dollar is currently valued at about 74 US cents. That's a pretty significant difference.
Bit discriminatory to argue Canadian can do it but American get $ 1000 fine..... 😉
My late wife had a "permanent" disabled parking permit. We got a "handicap" plate for her car. It was the only car we had, but it was registered to her. When she died, I had to change the registration of the car to my name and at that time I turned in the "gimp" plate and got a regular plate. I've always been careful about using restricted parking spaces. It's called "being polite."
IIRC, we used to have plates in Ontario, but now have cards. The reason is the permit is for the person, not the vehicle. We can get temporary or permanent permits here. The only difference is the temporary one has an expiration date and that depends on how long the doctor thinks it would be needed.
so happy that the police is finally doing something about it! Shame on all those who abuse disabled permits!!
This video just made my day. This is rampant where I live too. I don't think it's enforced much here, but I always wondered if the tag would be seized, and this seems to say that it likely would be. I've always thought that it would be a great idea to seize the tag and make the offender bring the rightful tag holder to the police station to retrieve it, where the rightful holder would be given a warning about letting others use it. That, or take it away completely and make the rightful holder go through the process of getting a new one. Imagine sitting in the doctor's office explaining that you need the doc to fill out more forms because your deadbeat relative misused the privileges afforded by the placard.
Your suggestion is problematic in that you have other people who will legitimately drive the tag holders car. The people the tag belong to leave the tag in the car most of the time. Many times hanging from the mirror which is unlawful in most if not all states, but they may not know that the person is using it when that person has a legitimate need for the car.
@@mikeslater6246 My permit is on the dash. In Ontario, where this video was made and I live, permits can be on the dash or on the visor. I used to keep mine on the visor, but the elastics kept breaking. Anyone can drive a car with the permit displayed. However, they're not allowed to use the handicap parking, if the permit isn't theirs.
To get my permit, I had to fill in a form and my doctor added some more info and signed it.
@@James_Knott thanks for your comment. After re-reading my comment I don't think I made it clear that people are hanging their tags on their mirrors while they are driving yet there is a statement printed on the tags saying not to leave it hanging on your mirror while driving. It blocks a lot of vision.
The application is pretty much the same here in the state I live in in the US as what you described. We leave my wife's tag above the Sun visor. I do most of the driving but if my wife is not going to leave the car at whatever my destination is, I do not park in a handicap place. And if I'm staying in the car to wait for my wife I will usually park across the parking lot and wait for her to text me that she's ready to be picked up.
@@mikeslater6246 Yeah, the hanging tag while driving is a different issue and applies to just about anything. In Ontario, the permit card can be displayed on the dash or on the visor. Nowhere else.
I wish that part of the punishment was to have them use a wheelchair or walker for one week to understand how difficult it can be for those who need that parking access.
AHH not a bad idea
Great idea!
Instead of 'Walk a mile in my shoes' it will be 'Roll a mile on my wheels'.
i see this so damn often! Especially in Walmart parking lots!
News flash, people, the handicap permit is issued to the PERSON, NOT the car!
Another abuse I see quite often is when the driver is handicapped, has a permit, parks in a handicap space, but has the PASSENGER (friend or relative) go into the store to do the shopping while the handicapped dirver stays in the vehicle! That is ALSO a violation of the permit. The passenger going in to do the shopping is NOT handicapped, and doesn't need the handicap parking space.
@TomCat13461 I often, but not always, stay in the car. If and when I have to hobble into the store for something or to use its washroom, it is reason enough to be in the handicapped spot - AND NONE OF YOUR BLOODY BUSINESS, armchair lawyer.
@@gerryc3112 “Go before you go “!
And because you MAYBE go into the store, you’re denying another handicapped person the parking space, right?
p.s. I’m not a lawyer, armchair or otherwise.
And I have a handicap placard myself. I just don’t use it if I don’t need it, (on good days) because I’m not an asshole.
People will never get it. I wish parking laws were enforced more in this area of the San Fernando valley in California
$1000+ fine and it would be on
It needs to be enforced all over the States cause it's done everywhere!!!
I see this all the time in central Florida, cops need to enforce this!
Florida is where I am, its bad
I saw a guy yesterday at Harbour Freight store , parked right in front ,with a placard, carrying out a generator in his arms , that weighed about 60 lbs!!
Eeek
his excuse is probably that he is blind......he uses the braille on the keys at the drive up ATM too
He might still need a permit. I have one because I can't walk far. By the time I've gone through one section of a shopping mall, I've about had it. However, I am quite capable of carrying heavy objects for a short distance.
@@rodrod383 Maybe they should start issuing braille driver's licenses. 🙂
Maybe the generator is going to be used for his disabled dad that needs an oxygen concentrator to live?
I've been disabled for 20 years, walking is painful and slow. The times I have arguments with people parking illegally in disabled bays is numerous, even cops believe they are entitled. I blocked the cop car while I went and got my medications from the pharmacy. They were still sat in the car waiting for me to go, no ticket, no lecture, but I did get a photograph.
Ughh im sorry for this
That behaviour is unconscionable. I would have filed a complaint on the cop providing the picture as proof.
Yeah that's a good point although I've never seen it with the police officers because where I live they have special places for them usually right next to the handicap parking. But the ones that get me is the UPS and FedEx and all the other delivery services blocking handicap parking, sometimes several spaces at a time while they deliver packages in a building. I usually take a picture and call the offending company. They tell me they're not supposed to do it but I have seen the drivers I've reported in the same place on subsequent visits. But I keep reporting them.
My concern about that is they might have an emergency call they have to respond to. Certainly get the picture and publicize it.
@@James_Knott I did look inside the shop when I was on the way to pick up my medication, and the cops were getting drinks, crisps and snacks.
Even if the handicapped person IS in the car, unless that person actually get out, go into the establishment, and back to the car, IT'S FRAUDULENT USE.
Its allowed in most areas
The problem with this i have a permanent handicapped plate. Sometimes while shopping with my wife I head back to the car before she is done. Should I have to move it when she drove me there?
Crappy people doing crappy things! Fine. Confiscate. Impound. Prosecute!!!
Suspend the offenders license and fine them
Condemn, shame and prosecute.
San Francisco absolutely puts their foot down when it comes to handicap parking, getting caught gets you two tickets instantaneously at a cost of 800.00+ each!!! Every city and state should follow suit😡😡😡
Agree!!
This would only stop, if any misuse of a disabled parking permit, would immediately end in its validity.
They seize them yup
Suppose the genuine holder did not know their badge was being misused?? By your reckoning then if your husband, son, daughter whover, gets points on their licence you get them too?
@@MrChrissy1r That is very easy to control: don't give it away to anyone.
@JuergenHoppe1 There are a lot of disabled with permits holders but they can't drive the permit, is really for use when someone takes them to an appointment or shopping etc, it shouldmand must never be abused and to penalise the holder who for a lot of them had no clue it is being missused. Just hit the driver with extremely punative fines or even seizure if vehicle.
@@MrChrissy1r You don't get points for parking offenses. The rightful user would have to get another permit, so maybe they'll be a bit more careful next time.
Further proof that people are weasels.
The bigger problem is that they are handing out handicapped parking permits to people who are not mobility handicapped...and they are using it to squatt handicapped parking spaces on the streets... 💥
They cheat the system for sure
We've got a block of flats around here where 100% of parking spots are handicap-reserved for a specific user. The problem is privacy law forbids the municipality from checking the medical grounds, so handicap parking permits are basically an on-demand product.
It won't surprise you to learn that's a beachfront property and beachgoers park there. The wealthy boomers living there abuse the handicap parking licenses to privatise taxpayer-paid space for themselves.
I don't know where you are, but, here in Ontario, the permits are NOT "handed out". People have to prove to a doctor that one is needed.
I keep placards up in my wifes car, sons truck, daughters car, in the chance I need to drive. None of them use handicap parking. The placards have numbers which are on the back of my drivers license. Of course, they also know how difficult it is for me when I can't find a spot and so should these folks if they have someone disabled person in their family.
Thank you for mentioning the extra placards. My wife and I had no idea that additional placards are available, only two are allowed in our state per my recent Google search. We have two cars and occasionally we forget to move the placard which we've been doing for years. Our State charges a $10 fee for the second placard but that'll be worth the second one.
You can have more than one??? Around here, you're allowed only one, count 'em, one permit per person.
@@James_Knott I don't carry it on my person, that's what my driver's license is for, but, count'em, one permit per car I own.
@@mikeslater6246 Glad to be of help. Obviously, it will vary by state, but I'm glad you'll no longer have to bother with moving the placard and possibly losing it.
The sad thing is that the person who owns the permit also loses their handicapped parking rights. Ok they shouldn’t have let someone else use it but the non handicapped person shouldn’t have accepted the permit
When I had very serious heart disease and my heart function was very low, I applied for and received a permanent handicap placard mainly to park closer at work and the grocery store. In my state you are supposed to hang it up when you park and remove it when you drive but I always see people driving around with it hanging from their mirror. After I received a transplant I didn’t renew the placard because I didn’t need it.
I have friend who has a disabled permit, and I have on occasion taken her car to get things she needed. I would never dream of using the disabled parking spaces, even though, at 81 years old, I could probably get away with it. It's just wrong.
Simple. You're a good person. They are bad people.
I am my mother’s chauffeur. Her placard stays in my car. I have never, never used her placard while I was alone in my car. It stays tucked up on the visor until I park with her in the car, then and only then do I hang it on the mirror. These people make me so angry.
The fine is supposed to discourage - - so, change the law, you lose your car for one week to impound, pay the hundreds of dollars in HC fines, pay impound - - you won't do it a second time - - or double the fines.
NOPE would never do it again
I (American, Virginia Beach VA) have always despised such scofflaws but didn't realize how bad of a problem it was until my wife was temporarily disabled and was issued a permit. It amazed me the number of times we came across vehicles without permits parked in handicapped parking spots from grocery stores to post offices. A store we frequent has started calling out the description of vehicles that are wrongfully parked over the store speakers, saying the police are on the way. Sometimes they are so brazen that by the time they get out there, the police have shown up. The police don't give warnings about it.
The issue of misused tags is becoming more and more of a problem though.
I am a 79 y.o. Handicapped Veteran in Texas. I find people using the Handicapped parking without a Handicapped license plate or Hanging tag on their rear view mirror all the time.
My wife had knee replacement surgery and right after I could not find parking in the handicap parking at the hospital. While waiting for a spot to open up many people non handicapped (as determined by watching ability to walk, on get in or out of cars) which led me to believe they were employees of said hospital with placards. I saw at shift change several at the parking area standing outside their cars talking then leaving at the same time. This hospital has five multi level parking structures but never easy to find a single open spot
police do not even act on complaints, good thing that the city finally reacts. often the temporary permit is used permanently
Our adult daughter lives with my husband and I and we all have registered Handicap Placards. They're called ACROD cards in Australia. If more than one person gets out, of the car, there'll be two or three cards on the dash. In other words whoever gets out puts their card on the dash. BTW I'm the only driver.
Interesting how it works there
It’s really bad in stores like Walmart. I used a parking spot and when I came out I had a motorcycle in front and an SUV behind me. I got out after a while. People don’t care. While using my walker I had people not paying attention trying to run me over
Walmart is the WORST
Walmart tends to attract the self entitled and Karen level.
I have handicapped plates on my motorcycle. Totally legal.
Just start at $300 and double it every time a permit is misused. If a permit is seized, make it the same amount to get it back (i.e. start at $300 and double from there). Also, fine the people giving them out after they have been seized - if they give out a new permit to a person who had their placard seized fine them the same amount ...
My girlfriends daughter is in a wheelchair, we have to drive around forever sometimes to find parking so we can get her out of the car ... I hate permit abusers and people who park in handicapped parking without a permit because it has a very adverse effect on my girlfriends quality of life.
They think it's a victimless crime. It's not.
I encounter this problem every day at work. A lot of people park in the handicap spots just so they can park closer to the store entrance. As a result, the actual handicapped individuals are forced to park further away. It really infuriates me when so many people are just that inconsiderate
We need this in England as people like him take all the spaces its not fair to people who cant get parked xxx
We need it also
This makes me sick. My mother and my father who were/are handicapped and had to kill for their placards. Disgusting.
As a disabled person I see it all the time and if I say something to someone parking with out a permit the get aggressive
They always get defensive yup
It’s so brutal. In retail plaza parking lots it’s not policed, and bylaw needs to be called. So good luck getting them to come before the person leaves. I’m recently disabled and I can’t believe that so many people do this, it’s so sick.
People who are not disabled, and yet use the special spaces is my biggest pet peeve! I’m am disabled now my self, for life!♿️
For the people who use the Handicapped passes to park free for work, I think their boss should be notified so they can be censored in some way by them also! 😂
Actually, that's the exact attitude I would expect from most Torontonians.
I wish there would be enforcement here in Houston. Placard abuse here is rampant
They do have enforcement on the street parking but not enough. Houston allowed only three hours of free parking.
$300 fine is nothing. They saved $20 a day for free parking for months. Downtown Toronto ain't cheap
Wow... Yeah should be $1,000
There used to be a lady who took up a handicap spot (with a hanging tag) at the train station I use. I assumed there was something I didn't know about, even though when we go to our destination, she'd go zooming off on foot, at full speed, with a backpack on. Eventually I learned that the hanging tag belonged to her dad, who had passed away a few years before. Pretty pathetic, especially since there was an empty non-HC space two spaces away.
Yup its common they use dead family members. So lazy
@@angrydriversattack My mom is 88 and has a hang tag. When I drive her to appointments, I drop her off at the door, then go park in a standard spot. I'd rather leave the HC space for someone who really needs it (chair, etc). The only time I've ever used her hang tag was last week, when the parking lot was icy and I didn't want her to walk unassisted. Otherwise I leave the spaces for those in need.
We were recently visiting family in Albuquerque, NM. My family member is disabled and uses a handicap permit. In that state, they issue permits with your photograph on it. That way, no one else can use it. Very smart, IMHO.
I’m an glad you are showing this,I am handicap and have a handicap license plate,I had to go through a lot of paperwork and proof to get it,people like that you get a hefty ticket and get there license suspended!
Suspended license would do the trick
Had some fool, with a handicap tag, park in the hash marks leaving very little room to get in. His gift was a free pinstripe job on his passenger side of the vehicle.
OUCH
I have a handicap placard. I do use it if I'm having a hard time getting around, but not all the time. If my wife is driving my car without me, she removes the placard and puts it in the console. She won't use it unless I'm in the car and ask her to find a spot. More often than not, the spaces are filled with cars that have no placard or license plate.
I can’t believe how they try to argue their way out of it !!
I’ve been in court regarding this. I forgot to put permit in window. Yes it is a legitimate one. My sister’s, she has a heart problem, and we were at her doctor’s. My fine was $30 even though I had her and the permit in court. Maximum fine I saw was $350. I don’t know who pays $5,000 unless it’s a very repetitive abuser.
Once worked security at a mall. One of my jobs was "ticketing" unauthorized parkers in the handicap spots. (No fine warning, courtesy notice.) One day caught a well known local radio DJ getting out of his car, right beside the entrance. Told him, "that's for PHYSICALLY handicapped people, Stan." (emphasis on the PHYSICALLY) He received one of my "tickets"
In Spain, if you have no handicap permit and handicap sign with a seal from the municipal office placed visibly, cops will give you a ticket and have your car towed if you aren't present in the parking lot.
Towing is FANTASTIC
I have a handicap placard but I only use it on my bad days that I can't walk that far.
I have a disability blue badge permit and when I used to go out to places and their was only one disabled spot and someone turned up worse of them myself, we would actually give them that space. I can walk with my sticks and if someone with a wheelchair needed that spot they get priority in my book . My brother found someone parked in a disabled spot illegally, let the tires down and left them a note saying “ Your Disabled Now “ and laughed when they had to pay for someone to inflate them
C'mon... This is Toronto. You can get anywhere at anytime of day or night via GO Transit and TTC. I lived in Clarkson and worked near Eglinton and Caledonia and commuted every work day. It wasn't that hard. I could get tokens or a monthly pass for both systems. It saved the cost of car payments and car insurance for a second car. People seldom consider what they are paying to have more than one car. It's rather stupid.
Some people are just to lazy
Why not get a Presto card or use the app on your phone to tap & pay the fare? It's good on the TTC, GO Transit and several local transit services. Iḿ also in Mississauga and have used it on GO trains, TTC, as well as buses in Mississauga and Brampton. You also get discounts when transferring between systems and, since I'm a senior, can get to Square One (or anywhere else in town) and back for $1. Same with going to Brampton, but those buses are $1.50.
What do you do if you drive someone who is on the permit to a location, drop them off and then leave until they need to be picked up? You still need to park even if the person is not with you, go into the building to get them and bring them out to the car. You are doing everything for THAT PERSON, yet it will look like you're misusing the permit.
They would be with you or proven they were with you right?
I have started a Tow Truck service …
That only tows away these kind of cheaters !! Now I am making Big $$:)
And making room for Real Handicap drivers !!
They should come patrol in Calgary. I regularly watch people running to/from stores while waiting for a spot to park & get “I’ll be right back”.
We had that at the previous office location next to a posh school. Insults and "It's only for a while!".
Clamped their cars and when they argued "it's only for a while". No charges for release, but minimum clamp time is two hours.
Still took a while to teach them.
I remember walking past an open BMW convertible with the driver inside and no parking permit. I loudly explained to my son that mental disabilities don't entitle people to park in disabled parking spots. The Kevi inside started screaming at me and thought about getting out of the car when he realized that I'm a little taller than him. I asked him politely if he wished to be disabled and that I could arrange that for him. Love those Kevin's.
This is so insane. I‘d never do something like that, and i know nobody who would. In fact i only know 1 person with disabled parking, and he needs it. What people are doing something like that?!?
I did parking enforcement at one point in my career, and let me tell you, the need for people to have a convenient parking spot instead of just following the posted signs, is insane.
Glad to see someone is doing something about it. My son drives me, we only use the spot to put me in my chair then he parks elsewhere.
Used to enjoy handing out those back in the day, although I'm not saying where other than Southern Ontario. The ticket was about $300 if I remember correctly. Every excuse under the sun was tried... such as "I was only a few minutes!" Pretty expensive few minutes Sir. Have a nice day. He didn't seem amused :)
What’s also shameful is when some Karen decides to zip tie a grocery cart to a car that’s parked in 2 spots in an empty parking lot far enough away from any store doors that it’s not inconveniencing anyone. This happened to me when I had my sister who’s in a wheelchair out before she got her handicapped pass. Every woman should carry nail clippers.
While i don't agree with parking like that, you can't go touching peoples stuff
Had it been during normal shopping hours I wouldn't have parked like that. But we were in a small restaurant and it was after the stores were closed. We parked far enough away so there was no inconvenience to anyone else. People just need to expand their thought process beyond their initial impressions because there's more to the story than meets the eye.
I had a jerk today with a disabled permit park within 1/16 of an inch of the front of my car (meaning he probably backed into my car first) in the no parking zone, trying to get 1 inch of his back bumper into the handicapped space of a parking spot on the street in front of the police station. I was already in the handicapped space!!!! Even with permits, it doesn't matter, people can be so disrespectful of others!!!
As someone who needs a handicaped space it can be frustrating to find one sometimes. I am not in a wheelchair and would gladly give up my space to someone who is, but none the less I too need to be as close to the door as possible. Once while waiting I thought I was about to get one when two young girls zipped up and took it. They got out laughing, and it was obvious they had no need for it. They must have been driving grandmas car. I am glad offenders get caught, and feel thankful there are people who speak up to those who abuse the use of a placard. Doctors do not just hand those to anyone, you must need it. Most of us would give anything to not have a need for one.
Those knuckleheads know exactly what they're doing. Just this morning I called out a USPS employee for parking in a handicap spot. I got a little bit of lip service back from him, but he drove away quickly when I said we'll let the Sheriffs Dept sort it out then.
Bring this to Philadelphia, PA please. And every American city.
Cops: "Who is this issued to?"
Illegal Parker: "These aren't the droids you're looking for."
My step father did this with my mothers, told him many times. If he gets caught he will get a ticket and mother would lose the tag / placard, but he's one of those people who's smarter then everyone else. A few years later he had a stroke, so it's mute now. However I would argue he can walk, and the actually exercise is good for him.
Wow. At least they get to make 500 bucks a pop. Give that to the handicapped! How can you lie and feel so entitled!!! Bad Karma!
Good, get the people!
This is a never-ending problem in Toronto with over 3 million drivers. This doesn't even include the shopping malls.
We have the same problem here in Australia, I have had government vehicles parked in handicap bays and numerous vehicles that do not even display permits, if I do find them
in a disabled bay I will box them in if I can, I take a photo and make them wait for my return, that really gets the message across....I send all photo evidence to the authority here in
Australia namely [ACROD] Australian Council for Rehabilitation of Disabled.........
On one ocassion my wife and I were parked in a disabled bay waiting for the shopping centre to open, when a car parked next to us and a middle aged man got , and with tha aid of a walking stick he slowly walked away from us and entered the centre just as they opened the doors.....we followed almost immediately and watched as he folded his walking stck and continued at a good walking pace....this was at 0800 and the parking lot was empty yet he chose to park in a disabled bay.................
See I wonder how many people in the United States would park in a Handicapped parking space if they knew that the fine could be as high as 5000 dollars
NONE lol
It should start at a $1000 fine and if they get caught a second time the car gets seized and forfeited. That would stop a few of them. It is interesting to note these days that people who do this sort of thing always have excuses and always have supreme entitlement. I have seen the same thing with people using their cellphones while driving (which is illegal where I live).
They always have an excuse - "I was using the GPS maps" or (while stationary at the traffic lights) "I'm not driving, I am stopped". I've seen people scream and rant and get really hostile that someone has dared to challenge them using their phone, despite it being illegal! The good thing now is that they are starting to roll out fixed cameras that can detect people using their phones while driving.
This just doesn't happen in the UK. Disabled badges are never checked. I have legally held one for over twenty years and nobody has ever checked it. It is very frustrating at times when I can't park in a disabled by because you know they are being abused. Some drivers park in them and don't even display a badge.
These officers should come to my town at the local wallyworld. They'd have fun and be busy. Even my highschool
Walmart is the WORST
As an ex security guard working the grave yard shift in downtown toronto, I can confirm that most of the contractors have disabled placards in their pick up trucks but they seem to have no problem unloading all of their tools/materials and carrying them inside. They then stay in the spot all day, making it harder for people who need the spot to find one. I ratted out many to parking enforcement and they did nothing, ever. Kick backs? Bribes?
We need all the US fines to increase to a level equal with Canada!!
People like this deserves $1000 fine and a 30 days suspension on their drivers license.
The Fines for repeat offenses should be as follows:
First offense-500 dollars Fine and the Surrender of the Placard.
Second off-1000 dollar Fine and a six month suspension of the Driver's License plus the Surrender of the Placard.
Third time -2000 dollar Fine with a full year suspension for the Driver's License Plus the Surrender of the Placard.
Fourth time-5000 Dollars and a Five Year Suspension for the Driver's License and 90-180 Days in Prison under the Repeat Offender.
This is a problem all over I know in the UK the permit holder photo are on the dash permit if the person is not in the car then the permit is withdrawn
There will ALWAYS be scumbags in this world
Never ending
HA!! Handicap scammers are the norm at every Costco
Yup costco, sams club and walmart
Unfortunately, I have witnessed a high increase with "Entitled people", since 2020. As someone who is disabled and uses a wheelchair for mobility, it is extremely frustrating trying to find accessible "handicap" parking spaces.
The biggest problem/challenge was at my apartment building! I had to be home immediately after work or run errands at a certain time, so I could have a parking spot in front of entrance. If I knew who owned the vehicle, I would ask them to move their cars (even though they know not to park there). Several times, I called the police, who wrote they expensive tickets and cars towed away (added to punishment: I would make it mandatory for violators: they have to spend minimum 1 month using a wheelchair for mobility in/out of the home with a court appointed liaison by their side 24/7 as a witness to them being compliant with the court order.) Let them get an insight into the life of a disabled person.
People don't give a sh**, until something happens to them. 😠😢😞
These people don't care like to see what would happen if they were disabled. I am disabled, as is my fiance he's a disabled Vet. It's hard for him to walk a distance sometimes we have to.
PLEASE IF YOUR NOT DISABLED DONT PARK THERE.
They are lazy and don't care. Sad world
These people are sick. What arrogance.
Its a mental problem of course
I use a wheelchair after spinal cord surgeries. I hate when someone parks in the handicap spot waiting for other person to get out. You dropped them off and are picking them up. Get out of the spot! Also, parking in the striped lines. We need room to get chair out or to open door wide enough to get walker out to get to chair. Just frustrating to see people do this all the time.
