This law is a enhancer. It's similar to hate crime laws. You get charged with the underlying offense, and on top of that you get charged with the the road rage, which increases the potential sentence. It also can create a chargeable offense, if the behavior falls short of the existing laws, but is still deemed a problem. Think about a driver who comes close to ramming you or forcing you off the road, but doesn't make any contact. They might not have violated any existing laws, but the behavior is still bad. As an OTR trucker I've certainly encountered plenty of road rage out here. I feel the only way to rectify the issue would be to completely overhaul our licensing and driver education system, and ramp up the penalties for bad driving behaviors. There are far too many drivers out here on the road that shouldn't be behind the wheel in the first place. Another issue is urban planners and developers in the government laying out out cities poorly. We need better availability for people to be able to walk or bicycle for home to a store or work. It doesn't cost anywhere near as much to build and maintain footpaths separate from roads and adequate sidewalks in areas that lack them.

That aftermarket bumper is only good in road rage scenarios, at damaging other people's vehicles without their own. But like if he would run into something like a concrete barrier, could interfere with airbag deployment.
Road rage penalties should be: 1st time: no license for 1 year, impound car for one year, $2000 fine, 25% of all points applied (so if the limit is 12 points, give them 3), GPS monitoring, report to auto insurer. 2nd time: jail for 1 year, impound car for one year, $5000 fine, 75% of all points applied, report to auto insurer. 3rd time: permanent revocation of driving privileges nationwide, 5 years in prison, $10,000 fine, report to auto insurer. No it won’t!! Make them think!! Cause when blind anger and stupidity sets in! Reason and rationality go out the window! Law will get some of the stupid ones off the road but not all!!
The law won't change anything except the state's budget.. Road Rage is an impulsive reaction, it isn't an act of forethought, and there's typically two reasons it can happen: - a brush with certain danger or risk can trigger a fight response in an individual instead of a flight response. - the road rager possesses less intelligence than most others and doesn't care about what happens as long as the other party is dealt with. In either case, a higher ranked misdemeanor and/or impounding the vehicle will not be considered beforehand and will not be a successful deterrent.. :(
Unfortunately, consequences are the last thing anyone is thinking about when they completely lose their (*&^. Best you can do is whatever it takes to keep them off the road, as they are unfit drivers.

Is giving someone the finger for running a stop sign and almost ramming me, is that considered road rage? 🤔
Any signal given on the roadway gives the other driver the right-of-way, because the right-of-way can only be given. So I'd say no.
We need to put cameras at every 1/4 mile because the behavior of motorists is really bad now. So much tailgating, clipping, and spoiled brats driving 95 in a 60 because of no consequences.
OK Mr 1984....
Now if only people start doing things like keeping slow traffic in the right lanes, using turn signals, keeping off their phones....
All these are comes down to enhancements only and does not introduce a new criminal offense FYI.
Why would they blur out the license plate of the pickup? Afraid of a defamation lawsuit?
To prevent a manhunt towards the suspect and cause even more road rage if people spot them out on the streets.
That aftermarket bumper is only good in road rage scenarios, at damaging other people's vehicles without their own. But like if he would run into something like a concrete barrier, could interfere with airbag deployment.
Road rage penalties should be:
1st time: no license for 1 year, impound car for one year, $2000 fine, 25% of all points applied (so if the limit is 12 points, give them 3), GPS monitoring, report to auto insurer.
2nd time: jail for 1 year, impound car for one year, $5000 fine, 75% of all points applied, report to auto insurer.
3rd time: permanent revocation of driving privileges nationwide, 5 years in prison, $10,000 fine, report to auto insurer.
Double the fines if minors in are the other vehicle. If you are here illegally and doing that, immediate deportation and lifelong ban from entering America.
Does it include praying for the dead?
Not alot of head space in those cabs so not much oxygen to help the brain think clearly and the bigger the truck higher the altitude so less oxygen that and they are already made cause they are compensating for something but its just not helping them at all
evidence, DVR camera specially rear facing one is must.
I would personally prefer to see more enforcement of people using their indicators and or not cruising in the fast lane that could get rid of a lot of this
Just a "feel good" law, nothing is going to change...
Very similar to any gun "laws", criminals don't pay attention to laws, hence them being criminals...
Does anyone here know how the rest of the story played out? I'm curious as to how an apparently citizen-owned truck was allowed to have a push bumper installed. I mean, sure, it's chrome-plated, but does that not edge on impersonation?
No. Not even close. Trucks had "pushbars" lonnng before the police started using them.
@@commontater652 k 👍
Without video, it's he said, she said. Worthless.
I get mad at some drivers but just in case there might be a newborn or little kid in the backseat I dont like to engage anyone. I'd rather go fishing and not think about it.
how about dumb people playing on their phones and driving miss daisy and brake checkers and of course self entitled prius and BMW,, Mercedees drivers that cause the road rage take some responsibility and correct their driving habits,, if they want to be cops go apply for the job and serve !!!
I thought Utah was full of god loving Mormons
Till they turn the car on
Mormons do not worship God or Jesus Christ. They are not Christians. They have been fooled into believing the loes of the false prophet Joseph Smith.
Mormons are generally nice people but I've met some that are monsters.
Race, Religion, Nationality, Gender and Orietation - doesn't matter. Anyone can be an idiot. Even you.
They still are. But they are just in a hurry to drive to the temples.
Oh a pickup. No surprise there.
20,000 incidents just in one place in america not counting the not reported ones seems road rage is a huge problem in america. Lets be nice to each other. 🙂🙂
Let's see if the police enforce this law.
Drive better Utah and you won't have these types of problems. Watching Utah drivers in my state tells me all i need to know.
I am a truck driver, out of all the states I drive through, Utah has the worst drivers. I feel bad about it, since I love the beauty of Utah yet the drivers are awful.
It is a ram after all !!
Officially the only traffic law now 🤣😂😂😂
I hope every State passes this law
No it won’t!! Make them think!! Cause when blind anger and stupidity sets in! Reason and rationality go out the window! Law will get some of the stupid ones off the road but not all!!
The law won't change anything except the state's budget.. Road Rage is an impulsive reaction, it isn't an act of forethought, and there's typically two reasons it can happen:
- a brush with certain danger or risk can trigger a fight response in an individual instead of a flight response.
Nice, but they have to enforce the law for it to mean or do anything.
One offence, they should automatically loose their licenses.
Wait, it CAN be enhanced to a felony? You're telling me that intentionally ramming into someone's car endangering their life isn't already a felony??
Reporters' wardrobe standards have severely deteriorated.
Minnesota needs to adopt that new law roadridge only causes issues on the road
Minnesota needs to send the Sand People back to the middle east.....
Dodge Ram pickup truck drivers in utah must be devastated to hear this news 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 happens everytime
Some people in Utah actually need those huge pickups. Most places, they're a way for little guys to feel big and tough.
