I had a younger sister who was physically handicapped (muscular dystrophy) and had a handicapped parking placard. One afternoon I was leaving a department store and saw her husband drive up and park in a handicap space - my sister was not with him. I (literally) dropped a dime on the bastard to the local police and after being assured that my sister's placard would be returned to her, told them about his misuse of the privilege. He was given a ticket. We met later that same day and he was whining about having gotten the ticket and I told him why. He whined too loud - my sister heard him and confronted him about the placard - she was pissed. My sister, being an activist for battered women and children, handicapped rights, and other noble causes, didn't take any shite from him or anyone else - a pure, beautiful, bulldog she was.
Parking free for 7 years, I think 10 years in prison will teach her something.

She should be arrested and serve time for sure. Pay back the entire amount, and have her car towed and impounded for awhile.
so 7 years she parked in a Handicap spot & she not disable at all hell she need to be banned from driving for life & jailed also must pay a parking fee over $1000+ for miss using a parking spot for 7 years........
cuz trash like her sure not be allowed to drive at all if they take or the person not in the car as will take the tag & fine the drive also they sure be force to take mental, reading & etc test

Pennslyvania has NEVER provided free handicap parking. Some local government do, but never at meter.

On workdays she will walk to nearest bus stop to ride it to work and repeat this returning home. Will have to keep proof of round-trip bus fare purchases till all is settled out. Bam Bam Turkey and Ham.
If someone parks illegally they should have their car towed and pay what she owes

I have a handicap placard. I go to the post office in my town six days a week because there isn't mail delivery in my small town, I don't park in the handicap parking spot, I save it for others, because the area is quite level and easily negotiated.. the handicap placard remains on my seat unless I need it, and someone stole it from my car. Obviously, I have applied for a replacement, and hopefully someone who uses this illegally will be caught. Part of this is my fault because I didn't lock the car.

I've always had a dim view of people who park in a handicap zone without the proper credentials or placard . I know it happens a lot especially at places like Walmart and CVS and Walgreens.. Thank you for your concern.

In Kentucky, disabled parking is the same fee as regular motorists. To ad insult to injury, some state agencies won't accept state disabled permits, instead requiring disabled drivers to submit medical proof of handicap. State universities are the leaders in having their own handicap systems.

You have to have a medical professional sign your application. I just renewed mine and it was $10 for two placards (we have 2cars)

In Britain handicap parking still has to be paid for, thereby, closer parking to amenities is the only benefit.
Not with a blue badge, it doesn't. It also gives holders the right to park on double yellow lines (within reasonable safety limits) for up to three hours. I was amazed when my mum got hers issued, didn't realise just how much it would be worth to her.
Anyone that is handicap deserves the free parking they didn't ask for there handicap so Anyone that has a problem with this is lazy and petty and selfish they should be thankful there not

Just because you have a disability shouldn't mean you get a special privilege - free parking. The accessible parking tag is merely to allow you to be closer to the door and often the spaces are a little wider for getting in and out of your car or getting a walker out of the back seat. But for free - no.

Yes, the FREE parking is what drives much of the abuse. Others because of lazeness and very low chance of being challenged.
If she were parking at her home for 7 years, she absolutely used it 7 days a week unless she was on vacation. SMH

It said she was a Downtown Resident, didn't say she was using it during work hours. She lives on Ladd Street near the garage. So she used it everyday. @@angrydriversattack

Because being handicapped is f'ing expensive?? so why not give f'ing parking for free? why not give us an f'ing break? We spend thousands making our lives accessible that able bodied people don't have to spend. I just spend almost 5 grand on a scooter, a lift, and having it all installed in my van. I will soon be converting a 24 x 24 building into a small accessible apartment. It is going to cost me extra money to make the doors wide and kitchen accessible. No one is f'ing helping me with that. I'm also not spending that much compared to many disabled people. Others have to spend much more on mobility aids, accessible housing and access to a suitable way to travel. Money able bodied people don't have to spend ... and you begrudge us getting free parking?

It might have been paid for, but the fees are what cover paying the attendants, cleaners, etc and making repairs when necessary. Or do you feel that once you've bought, say, a freezer, you shouldn't have to pay for the electricity to keep the interior cold?
Handicapped spaces are bs. Most of the time they get the Handicapped plates because of obesity. Or respiratory issues from smoking. People say that Handicapped people say they are just as capable as people who aren't disabled. They want equal rights don't they
Bull. I have a handicap placard because I physically cannot walk far or stand long, due to serious hip problems, and I am not overweight, I don’t smoke, and I have done nothing to deserve this. Quit being so high-and-mighty about something you know nothing about.
