- In 18th century Britain, a man carrying an umbrella could
expect to be pelted with garbage. But that would all change when one
lifelong loser and chronic wedgie victim finally snapped. We're
talking about Jonas Hanway: the insufferable dork who popularized
the umbrella - through the power of violence.

Omg, you can't just show up in clockface! This is the 90s...
Fellas, is it gay to stay dry when it's raining?
No, much like tongue-kissing another man, it's simply... French! 🤢
Let's get wet and find out!
worse, it's FRENCH
Yes. More gays please.
It is when it's raining men 😉
Clocko is becoming my second favourite Cracked character (after Roger, of course) 😂
I wonder what is says that the most shocking thing about this to me was hearing someone with an English accent say they hated tea.
Fun how it's raining like crazy where I am right now and it'll keep raining the whole day
You in NYC😂😂😂

That dig at the full English breakfast was uncalled for
Umbrellas ARE dangerous. Just ask the Penguin! Preferably when he's not holding his flamethrower umbrella...
Not having an umbrella or a rain slicker in the coast may prove problematic..
Gotta love someone being so bullied they create a tale about it.
Michael Katie Dan and soren made this channel for me after I stopped seeing them I never cared as much
I miss Alex Schmidt... nothing against the new guys just... I miss Schmidt specifically
Did you know he does a podcast? It's called Secretly Incredibly Fascinating.
Just one of many ex-Cracked podcasts out there. Turns out that's pretty much all I listen to now.
@@lawrencechesneau Same, I just wish he still did videos, he had a real knack for it
@@spyrofan9681 Mmm, definitely. His New Guy videos were some of the highlights of the previous era.
Even if they did highlight Soren's obsession with hiding rocks round the office..
I can actually see the tea criticisms having some merit back in the day. Britain had to import tea from east Asia at great expense from countries that did not want british goods. This lead to a significant trade deficit & would be one of the causes of the opium wars between Britain & China in the 19th century. Was Mr Hanway thinking that far ahead? Probably not. My guess, he just didn't like it & somebody wrote down what he said.
Do heimlich next.
is it true?
is it ture?
Parasol
People better go eat shrooms this is just a waste of time
😂😂😂😂😂😂
😴💤
I have only used an umbrella once, when i was really young. Now i just run
Bragging about not being able to use tools is a weird flex
@@OsirisMalkovich I was just simply saying, I mean what do you do without an umbrella in that situation
@@chrischesmore Ever heard of weather forecasts? You either can't use them or don't. Neither is something to be proud about
Now wonder i never liked umbrellas 😂.
I have one in my car but I don't even use it.
It just feels too feminine
How is it 'no wonder' you don't like umbrellas because in the 1740s men didn't carry them? Are you 300 years old?
@@OsirisMalkovich yes
@@bororobo3805 You definitely sound antiquated
@@smurfyday sure 😃
The timing on this is weird because I have been thinking of writing a story where the mc's companion is a kasa-obake (the umbrella youkai).
is it true?
