I's so funny to me, cuz i've never even seen a milk crate (i've bought boxes) and mate was over there taking it to kiss her KJSSJLD
My idea for a 'tall girl' movie that utilizes a lot of these elements: a girl who IS taller than average, but she has body dysmorphia over her height, which makes her obsess over it and negatively filters her perception which is why all the actors are made to look so much shorter than they are (maybe she has ocd also, and the 'bad voice' is intrusive thoughts), but she goes to therapy and learns EFFECTIVE COPING MECHANISMS and as her negative filter lifts, it does for the t rest of us as well.
Honestly though. Body dysmorphia would’ve been such a good topic for a film like this to cover, especially given that it just… isn’t ever talked about. It would make sense for her to obsess over her height because of it and no one really understanding why she’s like this cause it’s such an unaddressed mental illness.
That's actually smart.... mmmm you've done this movie somewhat of poetic justice
This is much better. Tall people do get bullied but this movie just has a bad storyline that Idek what they want to deliver to the audiences.
I love this idea! May I suggest excluding the ridiculous relationship drama and more inclusion and focus on Farida?
Really like this idea but it's clear it's not the direction netflix wants to go
As a tall girl myself, this movie infuriates me like no other. Growing up I was super insecure about my height, and this movie just absolutely trivializes those struggles. There's a fair point to be made about how society shames women for taking up space and how being any larger than "normal" is frowned upon. But no, they had to take the route of comparing struggles and stupid unwarranted relationship drama. It kills me inside to watch
agree..they made a whole joke out of the real struggles and shit we had to take from people just for being tall, they completely mocked the whole subject
Right? This would have been a great idea to make a movie on class criticism or the social privilege you have coming from wealthy backgrounds, and how these two things affect the life of a high school junior that happens to be extremely tall for their identity. Applying my own struggles with height (like not having the wealthy privilege to buy clothes that fit, or be thin and blonde, so much so that you're still conventionally beautiful), and the likes... They could have done so much more for these two movies, and manage to keep it simple enough to still be a "lazy" watch after a long day. Other elements like there being no racially-charged violence or issues between the social groups also makes it seem less sincere, especially when societal ideas of height preferences are still prevalent enough to be bullied over, but race is just not even discussed, let alone inexistent, if not for the token coloured characters. What can I say except "Netflix happened".

Just a psa for whoever: you aren't "supposed to be" with anyone. You don't need to "end up" with anyone. You don't have to date people you're not attracted to just because they stalk you your whole life. Lil extra: To me loving someone means you'd never hurt them or their feelings on purpose and won't let them feel anxiety 24/7 and of course feel attracted too. In her case the situation's really weird for saying "who I'm supposed to be with" but I do believe in soulmates and that there always be someone you're "supposed" to end up with. Maybe if you're not into relationships and skinship that much, rather as besties but for those who do seek someone they crave physical closeness. There's definitely the right person somewhere and you will feel drawn to them (intepret that however you want) no matter their looks, gender or blablabla if they are indeed your "soulmate".
Maybe she should've just waited until she really fell in love to the point where she says, she can't love without him anymore (can be 100% sure there's no red flags). You can actually make someone who is rich or pretty have a hard life in a story context. Though I don't think they have the capability to expand on it.
For rich it could be an absent family, no emotional support, abusive parent or constantly being disregarded as nothing compared to other siblings.
The issues with being attractive is being reduced to your looks and the other is darker route such as sexual harassment.
Anything situation can be a good or meaningful movie. Because any real person has real problems. there isn't one person that never has struggles or conflicts in their life. It's all about the writing. I argue that the problem isn't that she's tall , rich and pretty. The problem is the writing and directing don't make any of it feel believable.
She’s rich with loving supporting parents she’s attractive and no one talks about her looks in a negative way nor they add emphasis on her face. Jodi literal problem is this movie is that she’s tall. That’s it. Like she’s not even that tall😂😂
i feel like this could've been done really well in dork diaries! it's implied that mean girl mackenzie actually has a hard life despite being popular and rich, b/c her parents are absent and her friends are only with her for her money and social status. too bad the book series didn't really do much with that idea
"Tall people aren't really known for their coordination." News flash honey, anyone can be uncoordinated regardless of their height.
"tall ppl arent really known for their coordination" =/= "only tall ppl have bad coordination"

I think a better plot would be:
• them addressing Jodi's insecurities about herself as something that will always pull her down (whether or not it's about height)
• more in-depth discussion generally about insecurities people face and what it means to live contently
• getting Dunkers a life outside of Jodi
• her and Dunkers figuring out their frankly dry relationship and deciding to be support systems for each instead of lovers (seriously, having a crush on someone for a long period DOESN'T mean you're supposed to be together forever)
• Jodi ending up with the adorable second male lead
• more screen time for Steig. I deserve to be hit by his good looks at least.
Yeah, I've noticed the formula too: it's always the sequel that introduces a new POC love interest who always gets sidelined by the original, pale as a sheet, white boy love interest. And it's usually the POC who makes more sense as the main character's boyfriend, to me anyways. John Ambrose and Lara Jean had more in common than Lara Jean and Peter ever did. And Marco had much more to him than just his size and unsolved anger issues.
Yeah and why do they always have to POC? That’s something that really bothers me. Especially if their og boyfriends are abusive

Jodi and Dunkles doesn't have the most abusive relationship, but they are probably the blandest, their relationship is fully founded on she being tall and he being an obsesive simp
Exactly!
Also.. the boy with the crate is named *Dunkles?*
@@ashleypisarts His name is Jack or Jake and the other characters just call him by his last name Dunkleman, which is kind of a ridiculous name
Dunkers is abusive. He pretty much had a fit when Jodi left the dinner after he gave the okay for her to leave if she needed to.
Edit: I went back to the movie to double check on what I stated and I want to add on. And it’s also to clarify to those brushing it off as Dunkers being childish.
The next day at school, Dunkers pins the blame on Jodi for leaving the anniversary dinner even though he had a fit over her leaving AFTER he said he was fine with it. He clearly did not have confidence in Jodi because he said he thought she wouldn’t actually leave. This bullies Jodi into staying a little longer just for Dunkers to lose his temper about Jodi’s newfound popularity and after school activities. After they break up and Jodi ends up kissing another guy, Dunkers leaves the classroom in a rage after Jodi told him what happened. Furthermore, he basically gives Jodi the silent treatment which is mentally abusive. This is making Jodi think she is in the wrong when it’s really Dunkers who is in the wrong here. The dinner scene alone, showed how possessive and abusive he is towards Jodi. It’s not love. While the abuse may not be physical, emotional abuse is still a thing and I see that with Dunkers. He is an emotional abuser to Jodi and the dinner scene made that clear.

If you DO start to compare your struggles with things others have to go through I still hope most people realise in that moment that they have it pretty damn good, without going "buuuuuuuuut my problems"

@@jcanimations92 ok?? I still know about 10 girls at my school who were 6ft, my mom herself is 6ft. in my eyes it's not "freakishly tall" like this movie wants me to think
@@phifuru the movie doesn't want you to think that, I hope..the movie is bad but still your argument is invalid. 10 girls at your school 6ft? Are those ten girl the majority of your school? Your mom 6ft? Is everybody out there with a move 6ft? 10 girls is a very small number and shows the percentage of girls that are 6ft is very small. and Freakishly tall is an exageration for just very godamn tall... or just very tall. In this case that is very tall, nothing to be shocked about and no means bullied. Your statement is still invalid however because theyd idn't cast short people it's just that Jodi's actor is actually tall. With the others being kind of average.
@@jcanimations92 idk what point you're trying to prove and idk why people thinking that 6ft isn't tall hits your nerve. the movie sucks, the plot sucks, everything about it sucks
I did not know there was a Tall Girl 2 until today, and it took everything in me not to groan in disgust when I found out in the middle of class.
Why did the first one have to exist and why did they rope Griffin Gluck (who played Rafe in the Middle School movie...which I actually liked despite others opinions) into both messes?
I had to listen to some of this as my daughter watched it the other day. She loved it. The adoption process is almost complete, she’ll be gone soon
💀
LMAO-
So, is there going to be a third one where an even taller girl enrolls in the school and makes Jodi (or whatever her name was) feel inferior?
For all we know, this series could become a Decalogy.
That sounds like it could be a great plot device. Don't let Netflix find out.
Tall Girl meets Taller Girl, yet Tallest Girl is still on the horizon
I'm expecting a movie where magic is inexplicably introduced, and Tall Girl becomes short.
Or she meets a boy with dwarfism, and she's all "oh, you having a genetic condition that makes you short is such an inspiration to me!" and then they fall in love.
@@HarmonyHope7534
Cut to the final movie where the tallest girl of them all kicks a hole in the school walls and lets all the other tall girls into school to run amuck / screw up Jodi's life.
We'll call it "Attack on Tall Girl".
But if it was done right, that actually might be a better plot. I might watch that rather than the bullshit they’ve produced recently
Alex did have a good idea tho: The sequel should’ve been called _“Taller_ Girl” and featured someone who was like 6’10 😂
That wouldve bee n half way to interesting, she has to deal with someone who is actually tall
Especially because 6.1 is pretty normal
@@angelicadoesroblox9226 nah 6’1 for a girl actually does seem super tall. It’s like top 99.9%
I just think that yea, the conflict was resolved in the first movie so a sequel with the same cast seems kinda redundant. 6’10 & new problems would add _drama_ 😛
@@MaddieFishblob 99.9%? It’s not that rare I’m a girl and I’m 6.5

@@Anna133199 There HAS! even on videos that didn't have them before
The real kicker is how the writers didn't even try to use Ava’s REAL experience of being tall. When she auditioned for sytycd, she mentions how people thought she was “too thin” and her mom wasn't feeding her. Yes, it's dark, but that would've been more coming of age. Plus why have her not dance to her full potential in a musical dance break?!?!
Because it's a movie not some autobiography. She's an actress it's her job and it was made for money it's Hollywood what do you expect?
@@wd4440 but it would be a legit problem, tall people are often accused of being thin, and are shamed. Tall people are almost never shamed for just being tall (can't account for crazy)
@@TheGreyKami when she was on dance moms she got kicked out because of her height not her weight

Love how Alex just casually dropped that "tumor makes her taller so she wreaks havoc" revenge plot. That would've actually been a GENIUS twist and actually would've had the first movie make sense.
I lowkey want to watch Alex's tall girl sequel where jodi is a 14 feet tall monster seeking revenge.

less.....idk overdramatic cause they made the character seem like her whole personality is " I'm tall "
I have been watching these videos for awhile. This has been one of the best ones.
Every time her “inner voice” talks I kept thinking is this a horror movie now the voice is so weirdly creepy lmao
I don’t know I found it so cringy
It's really annoying because intrusive thoughts really suck to deal with but the movie's writing didn't do a very good job with it

The acting they were not acting they were reading their scripts the entire time.
They could have had her like 7 feet tall or have a pituitary gland issue that causes excessive growth and it would have made more people accept her and relate to her than her being 6’1

Ok so to the people who think they should have left out white:
I'm white myself, and this is not to say that white people don't have problems. All of us sure as hell do. It's just that we usually have the advantage of being white and not being judged as much because of it.
Anyways, Imagine having such a great life to the point where having above average height is a fucking problem lmaoo.
This movie series helped me out a bunch. At first I thought my sister's stage 3 cancer was bad,but then I heard Jodi wears MENS size 13 Nikes! MENS! THANK YOU TALL GIRL FOR MAKING ME FEEL BETTER🗿
The point of the movie isn't that her life sucks because of her height, but because she is bullied with her height
@@amandaflatt6523 Yes but at the same time it makes it feel unrealistic. Sure she may have been bullied for being tall, but at the same time that’s pretty rare. I’ve heard of people who got bullied for being tall and it’s usually more jokes than anything. In the end, people know you can’t control your height and will at most make a joke at your expense. The bullying doesn’t mean she will define her entire life on her height. (Being tall is what makes me “me”) while most tall people acknowledge it as just another characteristic, like having blue or green eyes
I hope your sister will recover soon and stay strong!
@@MaeAlessa It's probably because they were afraid that if they picked an ugly main role to be bullied, no one would watch the movie 😅
This is deffo sarcasm
As a tall person people do make fun of tall girls in high school. But it usually Goes something like this: "damn i fotgot you're a girl because your height is indicating you're a man", "damn No guy will ever want to date you you will just make them feel unmanly", "you're like so masive and gigantic you shouldn't be wearing dresses" so I was really excited for the first movie but well... it could've been better but what to expect from netflix lol
7:45 Not only is she telling her plan at school _in public,_ but it's also in an *_echoing hallway._* ✨Movie logic✨
let’s talk about how these netflix teen movies are all the same... first movie, girl meets guy, they fall in love and end up dating, the end. second movie, girl and guy are together but oh no, a new guy comes into a picture! new guy, who funnily enough is always a man of colour, actually has more chemistry with girl but of course girl won’t ditch guy bc they have “history” or whatever. so she dumps new guy to run back to guy (who is often a white guy with brown hair) and the movie ends. if this movie is like all the others, tall girl 3 is gonna be about how jodi and what’s his face have relationship issue but manage to work it out bc they’re just so gosh darn in love. loving the versatility from netflix!
Bonus points it they're fighting about wanting to go to different schools after highschool.
That's a great summary of all Netflix teen rom-com movie series'. A lot of the times, either the girl meets the guy in the first movie, or they already have some type of history (neighbours, grew up together, childhood crush who never noticed the girl or cared about her feelings for him until they hit puberty and he's finally noticed her, etc). I'm sure Tall Girl 3 will be about how Jodi and bf have to decide between going to the college of their dreams (which is usually some prestigious university that they somehow managed to get accepted to with some cringe-worthy essay) or making their relationship work. It's the same plot over and over again with slightly different backstories and characters with slightly different struggles.

Them breaking up and then quickly getting back together is the most realistic part of this movie
The most unbelievable thing in this movie is that there seems to be only two people at a fairly large public high school over six feet tall. The public high school in my hometown had at least a dozen guys 6’3” and taller, with two or three around 6’6”, and this was in a town with a population of around 7,000.
Woah where are you from
It's a movie.
Okay, but keep in mind that's for guys. The world average height for women being 160-165cm tall, Jodi is REALLY tall. Although I doubt it is such a hardship as it is presented to be in this movie.
I saw taller people outside large cities, usually on rural areas. Being tall isn’t just genetics but the diet & environment have a big influence too. I was on NY & Americans that were from there white or black were short or average but I didn’t saw anyone tall.

honestly one of the main things that bother me in a ton of these modern netflix romcoms: the 2nd love interest (that's supposed to temporarily woo the mc away from the love interest) is always .... darker or "spicier" in the ethnic category than the main love interest. it's a pattern that feels weird, sort of like an "exotic" getaway until the mc gets their "head in check"💀
YUP! This is the comment.
Yeap, at least have them introduced in the first movie and be part of the class or friends group; they always "just moved to this town/city".
Yes!!! That shit is so offensive! Can they please stop?! This is the third movie in a row!!
