If they tried to make the same movie about a man in his 30's who is hired to seduce a 19 year old girl in exchange for a car, and includes scenes where she's visibly afraid of him aggressively hitting on her, then it would likely be a psychological horror, not a rom com. And he'd likely be played by Leonardo DiCaprio.
XD
Yep. That’s why so many young men get taken advantage of…
That’s literally what I was thinking!
Guys just aren’t the type to seduce Women that much. Maybe that’s it.
Hey, no hard feeling?
“He’s 19 years old and never had a girlfriend”
Me, who turns 23 next month: *Sweats nervously*
Do not worry, I'm soon to be 28 and still single. With my friends and hobbies, I am enjoying life at my best. Also, my amazing grandma met my grandpa when she was 30, so just let your life flow and stay true to yourself, there is a right person somewhere for everyone ! And if society keeps pressuring you at your young age, then tell them with a smile to mind their business !
I turn 30 this February and I am still like 3/4ths Percy.
The fact these parents are worried he doesnt have a gf at 19 while my parents be like "you're young take your time" lol
@@m.p.2534period!
Hey man, don't even worry about it!
The way he answered her flirty "currently single" with "unmarried" was dope.
The "In 4 years we'll both be seniors" roast was insane
Also that childless comment 😅
Dude was roasting the whole movie😂
Maddie selling a completely paid off house because an 18 year old made her feel bad about having daddy issues is wild. The house had no mortgage. That's a dream for people nowadays.
Especially to go to CALIFORNIA. Like, girl. That place is so expensive 😭
I looked this up because I thought the same and property tax rates in Montauk are 2.3%. Median cost for a home was $3 million… that’s a big yearly bill for a single, mentally unwell millennial.
Her not just selling the house to get out of the bad financial situation she was in from the beginning is what's actually wild af. She could've rented out some rooms on AirBnB or just got a roommate. Like????
Also she saved $22k in two days driving for Uber and waitressing. Cliche to the core
@@kimberlychako7269at this point it was like an ad for uber drivers
Aside from the massive "if genders were reversed" elephant in the room, I'm surprised that the kid wasn't more mad at his parents for thinking that he was such of a lozer that they had to pay a girl with a car to get him laid. really doesn't help with your self esteem if it was bad enough to go to that length
He was really angry at his parents I think you just never watched it lol
@@KayPeeOpee correct
There is literally a scene where he confronts his parents
Can we stfu about this gender reverse thing. I feel like this whole comment section is filled with NPC bots all mentioning the same shit. Creepy movies where girls are preyed upon have been and will unfortunately continue to be the norm. But y’all will always only show up for male victims

As a parent, the creepiest part of this movie was the parents. Micromanage and manipulate their child till he has zero confidence, then force an adult woman on him (whom they are literally paying to seduce him without his knowledge or consent) in hopes it will bring him out of his shell. And then at the end theyre still struggling to let him make his own choices. I'm not calling abuse...but it does give me major creeps...
I swear parents like this just refuse to admit they have anxiety and over time it just gets worse.
Stuff like this makes me think Anxeity is the most common undiagnosed mental illness in existence
yeah... it's a movie
It’s abuse. This whole movie is disgusting. Like, as an SA survivor this made me feel pissed. Some of us just don’t wanna have sex. Idk why that’s made out to be such a spectacle but it just reinforces my belief that the average person is such a lying, manipulative, conceited POS that the idea of procreating with ANY human being becomes fucking disgusting & stuff like this just reinforces that trauma to the next level. Seeing this blatant predatory behavior put on full display & painted as a “comedy” actually makes my blood boil.
So this movie is actually based off of a true story. The producers of this movie found a real-life ad on craigslist about this. They sent the ad to the director, who then sent it to Jennifer Lawrence. Everyone was on board to make this movie based on how funny the ad was.
wait, you’re kidding. PLEASE tell me you’re joking?

That’s raunchy comedies for you. Hell, this would be considered tame compared to actual 80’s raunchy comedies.
It's basically just a rehash of Failure to Launch, but more raunchy in it's approach
It was a breath of fresh air when compared to a lot of modern movies, even if the plot was predictable
I mean it's still less creepy than Cuties
"he's legal, it's fine" most people in their 30s see 19 year olds as still teenagers. there is no reason to go for someone that young when people your age exist. legality is not morality
yea I am hitting 30 in a month and I just, can't find people under the age of 24 attractive. And even that is an iff age for me. It's amazing what a couple years does.
Yah I'm looking at 20 year olds and thinking nope but a 40 year old I'm thinking 🤔 you know we could work
@@comradekitty3759 Cougars always existed.
This movie was... odd. A cougar-for-hire. Like the first writer was just doing some sh!t for literotica and then some editor picked up the story and said, wait a minute, what if we ran with the premise and tried to make it realistic. But that editor wasn't all that good as a writer either.
Actually morality in cases like this is a based off ones culture since modern Western culture dictates smaller age gaps
@@pixadragon46 some cultures are cool with a range of questionable-to-horrendous things. that's no excuse
Her naked beating the shit out of a group of teens on the beach had me genuinely laughing for like 3 mins. Idk the last time a movie made me do that

All these people complaining about this movie in the comments. Predatory, if roles were reverse, etc. So annoying. It's a genuinely funny, emotional movie. Literally the only good comedy in idk how long. Which is so sad to say. In no way did she push him to do something he didn't wanna do. This was the first good Romcom in like a decade and it's cuz of such sensitive, soft people that we haven't gotten any great movies. You can watch anything without complaining about one subject or another. Just watch a movie and enjoy it. No need to such discussions.

This is a weird concept of a movie but I did really like it. It was nice that she realised she was doing something wrong, genuinely started to build a friendship with him and that in the end, they didn’t end up together and remained friends.

YES
I watched this with my wife. We weren’t fans, but we couldn’t say why.
We got to the party scene where she’s literally breaking the door down, and screaming “did you f*ck him?!? Did you f*ck him?!?” At the actually age appropriate girl, while the poor guy is like barely conscious.
My wife turned to me and said “flip the sexes, and this is a horror movie”
I couldn’t watch it the same after that
I think the only reason people defend this is because Jenifer Lawrence is in it, even tho she has no comedic timing. It was terrible, the jokes were terrible, the acting was terrible and as you pointed out its a really messed up plot.
It's a good thing they didn't flip the sexes then, right?
@@Alonepistachio She's a great comedic actor
This seemed like a really creepy version of Failure to Launch
It’s clear you shouldn’t watch movies anymore. No one here understands that both parties are adults. One of them is 19: a YOUNG ADULT by law. You guys need to go outside more then😅
I can't understand how so many people think that a COMEDY movie making fun of a situation where someone's parents hire a 33 year old to have sex with a teenager is somehow trying to normalize it or make it seem not predatory. It's literally doing the opposite...
He was 19. A legal adult. It was a funny and cute movie
@@premiumaccount4166 The movie was not "funny." The was the opposite of funny, it was a desperate wanna be funny and cool. It was none of that.
Seems cute and good for a few laughs to me I'm about to watch it sux if your someone who has the sense of humor as a plank of wood 😂😂😂😂
what can you expect from hollywood
Except 19 isn't a teenager, but go off. 😭
For those of you saying her house was already paid for, she only needed to pay taxes. If a bunch of rich people move in next door, the value of your house increases, and the taxes get huge. If you can't afford it, mortgage paid or not, you're out of luck!
That's the problem with gentrification.
This entire concept of driving up the property tax seems so wild to me as someone who isn't from the US
@@Dev_712 it's an extension of the way all the land in a kingdom belongs to the king. So we don't fully own our land bc we have to keep paying tribute in the form of property taxes to the kingdom that we call a democracy. Since we don't entirely own the land, that tribute isn't a fixed number and is based on demand. More demand for a piece of land increases its value and thus the tax increases. And since it is worth more, you can easily sell it to pay the taxes if you can't afford the current rate.
@@TheAnantaSesa yeah I get property taxes and such. What I do find weird is gentrification and how the rich people can then pretty much dictate the entire neighbourhood rules. Of course the more the demand is, the higher the price of the property and the rich neighbours would like to keep it that way so that their investment doesn't go up in flames but it just feels wild that something like that can happen to anyone and they can't do anything about it
@@Dev_712 I don't really get it either. I mean if your taxes go up bc the property value has gone up then you get to sell for a profit. But I know it's a hassle to move and a lot of the profit is lost due to the cost of moving and the natural wear and tear that reduces the sell price but isn't included in the tax value. I mean you won't mind the depressions in the carpet where your bed frame and furniture sat for several years but a new buyer might want a discount bc they "need new carpet" etc.
Same price inflation happens with normal growth as a city expands services into the suburbs and annexes them to then add city tax charges to the total property tax. The only thing I think that can be done for either catalyst is to maintain a stable community with neither population growth nor shrinking. That's nearly impossible these days with all the transportation and technological upheavals driving migrations and below replacement level fertility rates requiring fertile populations to be encouraged to emigrate as replacements.
Despite the raunchy plot, this was actually a really good movie. Felt almost like a blast from the past despite the obvious modern day anachronisms that remind you that you’re watching a modern movie, but even those added to the comedy. It was just a good time overall
It’s a paid off house! Do you know how great that is to have, a house with no mortgage? Maybe she just knows that leaving the house would be stupid because she won’t have a house like that for at least another 30 years.
This!!!
She'll never have a house like that again, especially if she's moving to California to be a surfer 🏄
You mean never. Her house was paid off, pretty much no debt, has a job, yet can't pay a yearly tax.
My sister’s property taxes are more than both my mortgage and property taxes. Location, location, location.
I mean she can sell it and buy another house with cash. The whole movie is screaming about how high property values in Montauk are
I wanted to dislike this film because the plot seemed predatory but I actually feel like this includes relevant topics such as how introverted younger generations have become and how far people will go to make a living. As far as getting paid to groom, a lot of parents pressure their children to settle down so I don’t think it’s an unrealistic moral dilemma.
@@redstar1230why are you lying dude😂. Looking for clout?

[ressuring to settle down is not the same as hiring a sex worker. my god seems you are unaccepting anything as long as the packaging is cute. but as someone said swap it to a grown man and a young girl and it is a pervert
It probably helped that they made the boy of legal age. Let’s be real, 80’s raunchy comedies would’ve had the boy be 14.

I think its funny how daddy issues can result in two completely different scenarios. In those movies its always girls having a hard time to open up to guys and getting serious with them - and i threw myself head over heals into the arms of every guy who said something remotely nice to me. And I am a leech. And I always fell the hardest for way older guys..
But well. I think my daddy issues are not that big since my dad still tried to be a good weekend dad and didnt completely disappeared into thin air. Maybe thats the reason.
That might be the thing with weekend dads, they breadcrumb love and approval, in a way that does make you crave that male validation because its so sparse. The father is not around enough to actually fill that role. At least.. that seems the case from also seeing friends in similar situations.

I want to find this movie funny, but as a boy myself, the age gap between Percy and Maddie bothers me. Just because Percy is an eighteen-year-old doesn't mean that he's automatically ready to have sex. I do appreciate how this movie for depicting Percy as being able to have his own autonomy and determine whether or not he wants to become sexually active, though, so this movie does have a sense of self-awareness.
Word of advice repeated consumption of a topic like this will make you get used to it no problem 👍
Check out anime age is literally non existent with character ages😂
Being self aware is often a tactic when it comes to movies or even tv shows with sketchy concepts. Some shows like South Park have done it when it handles a sensitive topic and wants to make sure the audience is aware that it knows it’s doing something that is considered morally wrong, but isn’t truly trying to glorify it in anyway and is just a plot device used for the story they want to tell.
If it makes you feel better they didn’t even do anything, she was actually decent until how a man would be in that situation.

@@lunarhail3559 I know that nothing happened between them, but her constant insistence that he needed to have sex with her was what disturbed me, coupled with how they made that kind of coercion seem comedic.
100% would love to see Jennifer Lawerence in some more comedic roles.
10:18 Would've been funny if he said Mystique from X-Men since Jennifer Lawrence played her in the James McAvoy X-Men movies
So refreshing to see a youtuber not afraid to say the truth about stereotypes and stuff
Fenret killed me!!! You always make me forget i have mental issues for at least the duration of your videos. Thank you
9:49 THIS is why you’re great alex, this entire point is something i’ve said for so long now. you always hit things right on the nail
I commented the same thing!! This needs to be said more, I always hated how guys talked crap about girls with dad issues as if it was the girls fault for having a crappy father figure. It's like as a society, women legally have equal rights but socially bear ALL the responsibility for relationships while men get off scot free and get to blame women for everything. It's b.s.
Also, if anyone wants to fight me about how men supposedly pay more money and suffer more in family court, go ahead, because you're wrong. I know several women personally who divorced out of an abusive situation and they had to pay their ex child support, or buy their portion of the house from them, or fight to be financially taken care of due to disability (MS is a bitch), or just had to forgo what they were owed in child support because ex hubby wasn't paying ... I get men are lonely now, but it's nothing compared to all the social and financial abuse women have had to endure all this time. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
@@sarahcox1197your ted talk misses the point. The system is set up against men. Saying that random innocent men must suffer because another bunch of women suffered is peak stupid feminist logic.
@@sonatestd2085 oh yeah "The system is against man"
@@multifandombish1855 dumb feminist repeating things in double quotes.
@@sarahcox1197 Do you feel the same way about "mommy issues"?
12:08
Nope. That's not even true unfortunately. I knew a couple in both Bakersfield and Westchester, CA that paid to have someone date their daughter. These were old money people and they both told me that it wasn't at all uncommon.
13:09 the barbie poster😂
My fave bit is how the camera keeps cutting when Lawrence is stripping at the beach, only shoulder-up, from the back, you think okay, that's it....and next thing you know there she is, full frontal and a wild fight scene completely nude and stunning. That's an amazing bit she totally sells.
I was uncomfortable watching your video on this; I can't even imagine watching the whole movie. You, my man, are a legend
This is one of your funniest videos yet. I was rollin' almost the whole time. 😅
This is hilarious... Glad i stumbled onto this channel
5:19 the moment when he realizes that’s when the movie is name no hard feelings is the funniest thing ever
Jennifer Lawrence always blows me away with her acting skills. Hunger Games wouldn't be the same without her, she is so good at portraying the emotions that i cried for her sister and Rue even though i gave absolutely zero flying fucks about them.
Hunger Games is overrated and her acting is stilted
@@ninjanibba4259 Hunger Games is perfectly rated and her acting is amazing with lots of range
@@tmm4195 no it’s not, she acts the same in the majority of the movies she’s in, bland
This is why this movie stuck out, she finally gets to shine with her improv and actually be good at acting
@@ninjanibba4259 that’s such a lie and makes me feel like you just barely seen any of her movies lol. She always portrays her characters how she is meant too
@@tmm4195 dry and b****y? Yeah, considering that’s her personality, I can but it, the woman is not a great actress, calling herself the first female action star…
She’s affiliated with Weinstein…not a stretch to see how she got any work at all
Really enjoyed this movie, was randomly at the cinema and decided I should just give it a watch and thoroughly enjoyed it
I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
As much as I came into this movie wanting to hate it, I actually came out really liking it. I found the young guy really relatable, and their relationship kinda cute in the end of the film. Overall it’s a decent film.
It acting and writing is horrible plus kind of a disgusting thing to make a movie about. Everyone would be canceling it if the gender were reversed
@@Alonepistachioit's a good thing they weren't reversed then right?
@@StewartFletcher well no the point is it should be the same regardless of the genders but people have a bias and think when men are being groomed or abused its never taken as seriously as when it happens to a woman. So if people have a problem if the dynamics if the genders were swapped, they should also be against this. Keep that same energy.
@Alonepistachio except there's no grooming going on in this film since they're both adults. Plus men and different are different, so different standards apply
@@StewartFletcher so men being abused is fine by you? I see you must be an amber heard fan… also I was giving grooming as an example of abuse young men seem to get no sympathy for living through and that is messed up. Men deserves justice just as much as women does. People like you really make me mad because your rhetoric is exactly why so many men don’t report abuse. Physical, sexual or otherwise. Shame on you
9:30 oh boy 🤣 we're so sorry
"do you have any idea what that feels like?" 😳
Omg great animation and delivery. I died. 💀
Autographed Bible is crazy
At first, I wasn't vibing with the plot when I heard about it; but, after giving it a watch, it's actually pretty damn cute, and usually romcoms give me the ick.🔥✨🖤Thank you, as always Mr. Meyers
i think it's creepy
@@commandercorl1544 I feel you, I definitely don't like a lot of movies that others find comical. The change up was fucking gross and I have friends that think it's gold
Jenifer Lawrence always felt like that friend that walked onto a movie set by accident and turned into to a celerity
This movie had me laughing so much in the theater like it’s my humor to a T 😂
6:28 So. FUCKING. RELATABLE!
I saw it in theaters and just recently watched it again on Netflix. Absolutely hilarious to me both times. Funny and applicable real life lessons. But yes, if this was a man hired to “extrovert” a girl it would have a different vibe 100%. But I’m gonna enjoy this funny movie
Also thanks for the shoutout at 1:52
11:35 - You fool! You play the Inuyasha ENDING theme song to get all the girls!!! Bokutachi waaaaaaaaa~
“Every heart” is the best one to play on piano tbh
Thanks for the fun video
😂😂 Your commentary is just so great, regardless of whatever you are watching
