  • Why Engineers Invited us to lv 223?
why engineers gave humans a map to lv 223 which dr
Shaw perceived as an invitation. When I first saw Prometheus, it seemed a little bit confusing because we
learned that lv223 was a military facility with bio weapons that were meant to destroy humans but for some reason,
they left a map to that place. As Dr Shaw explained this map to the star system with a moon lv 223 was found in
many different places on earth that were separated not only
by distance but also by time so ancient humans in different locations and eras depicted the same star system.
That means that Engineers intentionally wanted people to know
the location of their military base for some unexplained reason. There a few possible answers, some of which are given in Alien Covenant,
the other ones are related to Prometheus .
The Prometheus crew interpreted many things in a wrong way including the pictogram with giant being pointing to 6 stars. According to one theory, it was not an
invitation as Dr. Shaw assumed but a warning reminding humans to behave better in the case they don’t
engineers would unleash xenomorphs and destroys humanity on Earth.
Considering Christian imagery in Prometheus and Covenant, the symbolism might also tie into Armageddon
which is the supposed location of a gathering of armies for a battle during the end times. The bio-weapons xenomorphs represent ‘demons", “plagues"; and “hell”. Armageddon translates from greek as a mountain or a range of hills, which is kinda what we find on lv 223, a mountain like temples build in a line. Like I said there are 6 stars on the pictogram, the number 6 appears multiple times during the film on the screens of the crew. That could be another biblical reference to the number 666 which is considered the number of the beast assosiated with the devil.
Certainly, if the Engineers are Godlike creators of humanity, then xenomorphs have a clear resemblance to demons. Internal consistency for the religious themes points to both the Creation mythology and the Armageddon or
end of times. Thus, it’s more likely that the cave paintings and other ancient Earth artwork were all
depicting visits from Engineers threatening us with Armageddon, which would manifest as the release of bio-
    weapon aliens on Earth.
Another suggestion is that the map was given to humans to destroy them in case they reach the level of technological
advancement that would allow traveling through space to lv223. The myth of Prometheus is about a man who is
punished for trying to gain knowledge and power equal to Gods’.
In the same way, if human would reach the level
of technology that is similar to Engineers, they would be punished by the pathogen for trying to imitate gods.
    This
also ties with the fact that in the deleted scene, Wetland proclaimed him self a God , a few
seconds before the Engineer started killing the crew.
There is also a theory that lv 223 is a place for the final judgment of humans, which relates to the piano
piece in Alien Covenant “Entrance of Gods into Valhalla”.
Valhalla is an afterlife in the Norse mythology which only the chosen may enter. The chosen are selected by Odin
himself for their glorious accomplishments in battles, and in Viking culture most warriors perceived death
in battle above everythings else so they could enter Valhalla and live alongside great heroes and Gods
    themselves.
The Engineers present on LV-223 were probably stationed there to monitor humanity from
afar and await their arrival so judgment could be made on whether or not allowing them entry to the Engineer
    home world
Peter Weyland speaks with the Last Engineer he does not initially attack the
humans The Engineer first study them, his decision to attack is based on the hostility of Elizabeth
towards him, the hostility of the humans towards Shaw as well as the physical force used to silence
her and lastly Weyland proclaims himself to be a God and desires immortality.
The Last Engineer in that moment realizes they must be wiped out primarily because they are still a savage and violent race.
What is also interesting is another deleted scene in the lifeboat where the Engineer initially discovers Shaw hiding he does not attack her, he studies her and it is only after she
strikes him with an axe than he attacks her back.

    • @jimbobeire
      @jimbobeire Před 3 lety +8

@@Suessserat No, she had no good reason to have 'faith' in the 'Engineers'. Her conclusion that the drawings were made by 'Engineers' makes no sense. They are crude cave drawings made by primitive humans who witnessed something. Most likely they saw one of those 3D holograms when the 'engineers' displayed where they would be taking some of the humans as 'tribute' or 'sacrifice'. LV 223 wasn't a place for making humans, nor for wiping us out. They just went to Earth once in a while for more _raw material_ , and some of the humans abducted were bred to be bigger, less individual, obedient slaves, modified to endure environments that would kill normal people. Shaw failure was to 'choose to believe', rather than to logically consider the evidence. First she cherry picked things to suit her religious belief, and she was gullible enough to listen to David, even though he also clearly had his own agenda.

jesus christ, you nailed it in the head. Ridley's vision was much more epic and was going to stray even more far in the sequel to prometheus. I wonder how many mysteries could've been explored, more scientific theories uncovered, our perception of the universe and our place in it could've been what his real plan should've been. Instead, we had a bunch of people gang up on ridley and tell him that his movies weren't good enough. I mean after what hollywood did with alien 4, this was certainly a masterpiece. I seriously don't care about action. Aliens is indeed a great film but we have 4 of those now. Can we start diving into the universe deeper and look beyond the same old "uwu the alien is scary because we don't where it comes from" shit. People wanted to see humans do dumb stuff and die in the sequel and they STILL aren't happy. I feel sad for ridley but hopefully there's going to be alien: awakening but this is still so soon. How many artful scifi films do we even really have? I guess at the end of the day, its about money. If people aren't getting paid, there can be no place for artistic integrity. We'll se what happens but man, I can't get mind off of what could've been.

The engineers were referred to as “gardeners” in that they planted life in many places but isn’t the nature of a gardener to eventually harvest what they’ve planted? They said that humans were the only success probably because we overpopulated and killed our planet and so they knew that humans would eventually look to the.stars for a place to relocate. Once at lv223, the plan was to use humans for reproductive purposes since theengineers no longer had the power to reproduce. They knew that using the black goo with less superior dna would be safer. But, I think they underestimated the human capacity for causing the eventual destruction of everything humans encounter.

LV223 was basically an "evolution checkpoint" to see what the humans/race created has become and whether they were worthy of going to the next level of understanding/evolution, being granted access to the engineer home world to further the development of their people/species. This really reminded me of 2001 A Space Odyssey. As most fans, I would love to see a third film tie it all together and just complete the story with Ridley having full control on run time, themes, rating, content etc. Definitely bring back Lindeloff and put together a beautiful 3hr run time definitive answer to the questions introduced in Prometheus, a masterpiece of space horror and sci-fi with mythology/religion/evolution tones, continuing to use HR Gigers designs and influences and just nailing it! Disney, please do not Disney/Marvel the Alien franchise. Let Ridley/Lindeloff do what they want no matter what the cost is.

It's fun to speculate and Krofts videos make it all the more entertaining, and I love Prometheus and Covenant and find them entertaining... What I'm skeptical of ultimately though (due to how disjointed the plotlines & timelines are becoming, especially in the plotholes already created in connection with the original trilogy) is whether or not Ridley Scott and current crew are even as considerate of consistent lore, plot suspense and stick-to-the-in-universe-story as we're even giving them credit for.
So many "reboots" and remakes and "reimaginings" lately, no matter how sacred the IP, tend to value the box office so much more than ever, that they'll even /pretend/ to be doing the IP justice, throwing the occasional reference, mystery tied in to backstory, etc, when in reality, many of them couldn't care less about "sticking to the established story" and are focused on huge entertainment value so they'll put in just enough "lore based" stuff to at least keep the die hards from not giving up altogether.
I hope this isn't the case with the Alien franchise.

The Engineers didn't invite us to LV-223 but to Planet 4 (Paradise), the map was wrongly interpreted, the system on the maps shows a 6 celestial bodies which is corresponds to the star system of Paradise which was unknown to humans till the time of Covenant, that's why Shaw and Holloway said the only system matches the map is the system of LV-223, the invitation either means to human to visit the Engineers home world if those on Planet 4 were Engineers or if they are not, it means an invitation for humans to visit Paradise were all the good creations are gathered

The engineers on LV223 were already on a mission to destroy Humanity thousands of years before Prometheus crew arrived there. So the judgment theory is incorrect. The sabotage attempt of LV233 mission didn't just happen out of nowhere. Nothing happens on Engineer ship by accident. Those bodies were renegade Engineers. But as we've seen, the unit on the ground failed to enter the deck before being wiped out. They stalled the mission, but did not achieve to shut it down completely.
Why haven't they tried again is open to speculation, but the map to LV223 was given to us by them in hopes that we will shut it down before the Engineers on LV223 ships wake up.

in that planet, this Juggernaut ship is carring a bio-weapon- a black goo. Why the ship is burried in the ground soil ? And there's also more than one ship . Looks like 2000 years before coming of Prometheus, this renegade space jockeys (engineers) had lost some of the bio-weapon virus and the virus enter one engineer body (those with decapitate head has new cells in his head)..I think all crew members in Prometheus make a mistake of the location of the planet that has to go, they landed on wrong planet.

In the Alien universe, there are three shown ways to clear a planet of life: driving mass into it, in which case it takes many years for the environment to recover, Xenomorphs, where you have to wait for them to kill off everything and then die off themselves, and the black too, which as shown in Covenant, works as fast as many Earthly nerve agents.

The Beyonder bit late replying but definitely in the ship not a temple. extra ìnformation: when alien was at drawing stage the eggs were in a temple not the juggernaut, but it was too expensive so it looks like the basement of the ship on lv426 but it is a temple. Also the eggs ozzed out of biomechanical wombs in the walls. so all of the movies have had there own take on its origins, but i think it was ruined by aliens and the queen. the engineers are supposedly dead, the human like species in covenent were not the original engineers, they were too small, all the burnt bodies were our size and we saw them with engineer like features, the juggernaut turning up was a massive event, enough for the entire population to greet them with fanfare.

    • @marilynman
      @marilynman Před 5 lety +3

It is an interesting hypothesis, taking from what you are saying, I think that the planet that was the "invitation" was actually an invitation of some sort, and from there the creations were supposed to reach Paradise (which is a planet that receives all the other creations). Because as you are saying, the massive event plus the physical features of the population suggest that they are not original Engineers but creations as well. So in that planet (Paradise) all creations that "pass some sort of test" on a planet like the one we see in Prometheus, are joined together.
Though my hypothesis has flaws like: what the heck where humanity supposed to do on LV-223?, or why after millennia Engineers are still interested in their creations to worship them? (considering they are mortal, what relevance there is for them to receive worship from another being, task that was set upon them many generations earlier)
      What do you think?

OK, I just reviewed the lifeboat scene and to my eyes, Mr. Engineer was not in any mood to try and reason with Shaw. He simply wanted her dead. Yes, he looked at the books, the video, and the chandelier but as soon as he found her he took a hostile position and wasn't interested in opening a dialogue. So, you have a huge physical mismatch between Shaw and Mr. Engineer, who already tipped his mindset when he murdered Ford, who was clearly no threat. Any moral high ground he might have held vanished at this point. Now it becomes survival, nothing more.
Even when Shaw turns the creature loose on him he still has an attitude problem. I'd bet that shortly before getting an ovipositor down his throat he regretted being an idiot. He proved that "you can't fix stupid" is a universal constant.
Now, if only they'd had phasers, things might have been a bit more even.

No, the 'invite' was not the cave drawing. The cave drawing is a crude tribal record of an actual in person 'invitation' to get on the damned ship, just like any African villager making a drawing of half their tribe being put on a boat to cross the Atlantic. That's not an 'invitation' to go somewhere nice. They were brought there precisely _because_ LV 223 is a WMD lab. You can't make WMD without raw materials, and it helps to have a few genetically enhanced slaves to continue the dirty work as well (hence the DNA match, which Shaw misinterprets as meaning that 'they' created 'us'.)

I've been fascinated with "alien " since I was a child (like 12). But never really deeply dived into the subject. It first started when we got Prometheus, because everything starting with the title was speaking to us about deeper meaning of the story. Then I got to know that Ridley Scott always fought of Alien and Blade runner being in the same universe. My overall theory about is that Ridley Scott is both fascinated with the idea of God , of life creation, of pride and peoples god complex and also about AI. Mainly because I think he shares the belief that the more humans evolve and progress the more they loose their actual humanity - it's all in the themes of loosing ability to procreate, to making artificial intelligence that eventually turns on us and Is the end of human race. It is like saying humans can progress but they will always be flawned with pride, with wrong ambition and need to be tamed by some higher power. Life is created, out s a process but then it goes the natural way "the king has his reign and then he dies" , so nothing , no human should last forever. Also making artificial humans - androids ,you not only go against natural order of things but get yourself into dilemma ....should that artificial person have a soul ? The Blade runner replicant seems to have and not have it - he wants it, he wants more life so he understands feelings but also Replicants fall somwhere in between humans and robots , they are more complicated and it it further explored In Blade Runner 2049 that they can have children. The Prometheus comes later in 2089 when people already know that creating Replicants is wrong. But Peter Wayland created the first David as something really special because he not only learns to do thing but he teaches himself to have feelings ....maybe that is a malfunction but also maybe because he was abled by Wayland to have feelings (maybe to built a stronger connection to his creator because he wanted a "perfect son" and it's kind of implicated that he was not satisfied with his daughter -Vickers) made him malfunction because androids are not suppose to have feelings so he became emotionally unstable, furious, powered with all kinds of wrong emotion therefore ironically he is flawed with human flaws. It is also interesting that the next ship is called Covenant like the covenant arc that represents connection between humans and God. So I strongly believe that Ridley Scott (but also we have to remember that other directors and writers put their fought in creating alien franchise) was always interested in exploring humans and androids relationship and how the advanced state of humanity can actually be a downfall of it. Also Percent Shelley wrote Ozymandias but his wife created the Frankenstein monster - the souless creater. And it always stood out to me when In Prometheus Wayland introduced David as "closest to son" which made David happy but then added almost disappointed "but he has no soul" and that seem to make David sad and almost angry. But truly angry he seemed when he spoke to Holloway about the answer "we made you cause we could" - because it seems to say there is nothing that special about you , you are just a fancy toy we made out of boredom. And that made David thing that he to can play with "life making".
But that is just me overthinking it, right? :)

They didn't _show_ humanity where their weapons were. They selected more isolated people, and _took_ some of them as raw material. Look at the dates and locations of the cave paintings. These were done even at times when other parts of the world had cities and writing, but they chose isolated tribal humans. The cave paintings were painted by the survivors from the tribe, not by the so called Engineers.

I believe if humans told engineer that we came in peace so we wanted to meet our creator, engineer would react differently but once he saw how they hit Shaw and compare themselves with God, engineer realised that we were monkeys.

All Ridley Scott had to do was track the crashed ship from Alien back to it's starting point. A bio weapon designed to change us into monsters? Not exactly. A drop of it makes a face hugger that plants a creature in something else? Sort of. A speck of it makes a Xenomorph but the whole thing is lethal like chemical warefare. It doesn't make sense. Humans as incubators in Aliens makes sense. An entire hive from one queen makes sense. In the next one David tinkers with it and makes the egg, facehugger and black Xenomorph but how does that translate to the original contagion in Prometheus? The assumption is it took a scientific exploration of the contagion to make the egg/drone version but where does that fit into the original story? And how does that explain the crashed ship in Alien... full of eggs from one infected engineer? Scott really blew it with the prequel story to one of the greatest sci fi movies ever.

Prometheus was punished to show and share knowledge with man kind and not for himself like the narrator on this video said! The knowledge was "fire".

Prometheus is the engineer that drinks that stuff and dies at the beginning?

Prometheus in greek language mean --- those who think preliminary, or previously before do something or anything..In latin lingua this mean directly == HOMO SAPIENS..SAPIENZA = Reason, Intelligence, Mind !!...
PROMETHEUS MYTH in Ancien Greek World was a grand sum total whole tale, or previos story to mankind, and the transition to new species--From Homo Erectus (semi-man) to ANTHROPOS = Thinking HUMANUM, Homo Sapiens !

+zonxo Prometheus was in greek mythology a protector for the mankind. at some time he was on the same side as the gods but when the gods made decisions that Prometheus didn't like he rebelled against them. in the end the gods captured him and decided to punish him by chaining him to a mountain and to make things worse, the gods sent an eagle that every day would hack out the liver. Prometheus remained there for a very long time until Hercules liberated him.

Prometheus is the same as lucifer. Fire is really “knowledge”.

What is the image at 4.28? Very very interesting I’ve not seen that depicted before. The body on the alter, the eggs surrounding the alter, the space jockey gun.... it’s just a crazy image

My idea for an alien tv-series is as follows: It takes places just before the events in the first alien movie and happens on a planet near where the nostromo spaceship
is shipping ore.Weyland-Yutani is on the planet and have terraformed it for years, when they discovers a cave with lots of xenomorph eggs.
One of them get's infected and a xenomorph is born.It turns out to be a queen, and a lot of the Weyland-Yutani humans are infected and then
a war breaks out.All the humans on the planet are wiped out and only a few manage to escape in a spaceship. Then they nuke the planet from orbit.
Then Weyland-Yutani regrets the decision and a hunt for the xenomorph begins. They get a tip that there's a crashed spaceship on lv426 and sends
the robot ash on the Nostromo spaceship. But they are informed that the mission has failed and that Nostromo has gone missing. Then Weyland-Yutani get's
a tip about an xenomorph on Fiorina161 and sends a team of researchers there. They finds a surviving prisoner that is impreagnated and a queen is born.
Weyland-Yutani then wants to use the xenomorphs on the planets where the engineers are located because they want the technology to seed planets with life.
They also want the elixir that provides humans with prolongued life.

Very cool, David is basically a god and worthy of it thru intelligence.
We need all 3 movies with Ridleys director cuts, these deleted scenes make a different movie.
