Before we begin to look at the evidence in the movies and other sources whether the engineers created the predators or the Yautja, i think it’s important to establish what is canon in alien and Predator universes.
And as you probably know, if alien and predator franchises are in the same world, we have a few major plot holes.
Alien Covenant suggests that David created the xenomorphs and even Ridley Scott him self in a few interviews confirmed that David is in fact the creator of xenomorph speicies therefore alien vs predator movies cannot be in the alien canon, simply because they happen about 80 years before David creates xenomorphs, which means all predators movies are not in the alien canon. Alien movies cannot be in the predator canon either because in alien vs predator of 2004 mr weyland dies and in Prometheus Peter weyland is still alive.
Ridley Scott mentioned that he had no interest in connecting predator and alien franchises and said that alien vs predator wasn’t a great idea.
All that is to say to that Alien and Predator canon are kinda of messed up and have a few contradictory elements. We cannot deny and disregard all the comic books, video games and movies with predators, xenomorphs and engineers seemily appearing in the same world. so they are kinda of in the same universe but it’s not officialy canon because of Alien Covenant. Blade Runner movies are in the alien canon and you can check out my other video to see how they are connected.
Despite seemingly contradictory facts like the death of mr weyland in avp and david creating the xenomorphs, I found a way to explain how these elements can fit together in the same universe so that engineers creating predators makes more sense.
In alien vs predator of 2004 Charles Bishop Weyland is the chair man and probably the biggest share holder of Weyland industries and we also know that Peter Weyland's father was a self taught engineer. So the reasonable explanation might be that Bishop Weyland who founded Weyland Industries is the father of Peter Weyland who inherited his shares of the company and turned Weyland industries into Weyland corporation after his father’s death in avp
To me it seems like a good correction for the continuity error cause by Prometheus.
So all what David did is that he took the black goo and after many experiments found a way to properly manipulat it in order to grow eggs with face huggers that would empregnate hosts to span xenomorphs.
These explanations would fix contradiction of avp movies and allow predators, enginners and xenomoprs to exist in the same universe without continuity errors. I think they’ll have to come up with something like this if they are going to make a cross over between predators and engineers which I really hope they do.
A made a few videos exploring the ealy Prometheus script in which Engineer dialogues are extended and we learn many things that were not inlcuded in the movie. At one point the awakened engineer says to Weyland that many worlds have been crafted by the hand of our fathers and that Yours was the only one that was successful. You should take a look at my in depth analysis videos of the script if you wanna learnt more about it.
So If we know that Engineers created multiple life forms, that predators exist in the same universe and that Engineers were present at least 4 billion years ago (when the life started on Earth) then it's logical to conclude that the Engineers created the Predators and not vice versa.
In addition Engineers have a bigger lifespan compared to predators, as it says in the script that that engineers can live up to hundred thousand years as opposed to predators who can live to a few hundred years.
In the predators requiem movie, we can actually see the skull of the spacejokey as one of the trophees, which once again confirms the connection between these two species. And as you can see it has this elephant like structure which is probably due to the fact that avp requiem came out before prometheus so they assumed that the biosuit was a permanent part of an engineers body.
Ridley Scott called Egnineers gardeners of space in one of the interviews so it’s very possible that they created all the life forms in the galaxy or the entire universe which literaly makes them Gods.
Therefore, a war between Engineers and Predators is very likely and we might even get some glimpses of it in the future alien film. That would give a possible explanation to why Engineers build so many military bases as we’ve seen in Prometheus as if they were engaged in a military conflict with another race.

I feel like the "David creating Xenomorphs" thing is more like baking a cake or assembling a chair from Ikea. David spent a ton of time looking through engineer libraries on both the ship and Planet 4. He studied the black goo relentlessly and performed all kinds of experiments. After seeing what happened in Prometheus and reading about xenomorphs in the Engineer databases, he tried to create his own. He experimented on Shaw and eventually "got the recipe right" for creating xenos, like successfully following instructions and making your cake or chair or table or whatever. It breaks far too much canon to have David be the big progenitor of the species, and seeing how advanced the Engineers are and the fat that the Space Jockey from Alien is fossilized (something that takes quite a bit of time, since before David was even around), I conclude that the xenomorphs existed before the events of Prometheus and David successfuly used his knowledge to create one, akin to following a recipe but more advanced and with missing pages. This not only fixes canon but prevents further breaks.

Exactly. All David did was come up with a compound that the plants could disperse to change people into them ugly critters and figure out a way to incubate the eggs. The Engineers created the Xenomorphs long before David did. I reckon the best way to deal with these plot holes is use a lame cover up that the Xenomorph species died out eventually thanks to Predators hunting them and such and David just recreated them
*Highly doubt Predators were created by Engineers, could be possible that those things evolved into what they were but I still do believe that Predators are their own ancient race just like Engineers.*

Apparently he just revived them, they were already created by the engineers, their dna was already in those cannisters.
According to a Ridley Scott interview a few years back, he confirmed that David did indeed create the alien we all know from the original movie, but not the creature itself, the set up for which was already there on the planet and he appears to take credit for in Alien Covenant. He did this by adding his own mechanics to a mixture of Dr Shaw's organics and the black goo. An experiment that apparently failed when he did it, but would somehow succeed later on when the ship he and Shaw used to escape LV-223 was found by someone else. It will be interesting to see if Alien Awakening actually goes down this route after so many years in development hell, that's assuming the movie ever gets made at all under the Mouse House.

Book I came across in the middle 90’s said that engineers created xenomorph’s for the predators in a deal that was basically :
“Leave us alone,never come back,and we’ll give you the ultimate hunt” ....
I think I got it out of one of the dark horse comics....but that is still my favorite version of the story.
Now this makes a whole lotta sense ^^^^^ I like this thought a lot better than the Engineers creating the Preds

Lol, never knew it was a comic, but I commented a similar idea on a predator/alien/blade runner universe video, where I posted my ‘theory’ That the engineers created the xeno’s to combat the predators, but with the addition that predators are an early earth human form that escaped earth when the engineers came and they evolved into the predators and humans now on earth are the ones created by the engineers… which was an attempt to recreate and weaponize their own predator kind!
Also could explain why predators keep coming back to earth, to try and search for clues as to where the engineers could now be

No, they are way more powerful. Even in the comics a veteran predator faces a engineer and the only reason why the engineer lost was because he did not have his weapons and the predator had a human helping him. And even so it was a very hard battle.

The Engineer in Prometheus was heading to earth to destroy us. Perhaps the Engineer ship on LV 426 was heading for the Predator home world.
The Engineers cannot be defeated in hand to hand. There armour is impenetrable. It took a predator and a human to take down a lone injured engineer...and he wasnt even at full power. If he had his helmet, he'd be a walking 8 feet or taller titan. The ultimate predator would be the only way to fight him...which btw ultimate predators HAVE engineer dna. Hence the ability to reflect bullets

Either way, I seriously do not think the Engineers engineered the Yautja.

mwont And it should have been clearly conveyed that way on film. It was a mistake to attempt to make David the creator of the xenomorph. Particularly since the concept, while somewhat intriguing, was so poorly executed in the ambiguous mess that Alien Covenant was.
The novelization got it right.

My theory is that the engineers and space jockeys were at war with the predators however it quickly turned into a losing battle (when I saw the engineers running in prometheus I always thought they were fleeing from a cloaked predator as it picks them off one by one. So the engineers fled to the black goo chamber in attempts to use the weapon agsinst it but was unsuccessful) so in order to turn the tide the engineer used or created the xenomorphs as a bioweapon against them. In the end either the predators won or the xenomorph bioweapon turned on the engineers wiping them out. After a long battle against the xenomorphs the predators deemed them too worthy to exterminate like the engineers and decided to use them for ritual/ceremonial purposes.
That makes more sense and I'm willing to believe that.

The David's Alien is a convergent result.
The lv426 spacecraft had been there for thousands of years before David created his version of the facehuggers.
My theory is that the black goo will always move into a specific mutation. More exposure to the goo will do it faster but all roads lead to aliens.
For example the low dose that Shaw gets in Prometheus creates the squid which impregnated the engineer but if it impregnated vickers then a more classic alien would have popped out
In covenant the experiments on Shaw, I assume, have high doses of goo in her ovaries which mutates them to face hugger eggs. A step in the alien lifecycle. It was a more direct mutation.
The predators are there own race it was confirmed they been hunting on different planets for millions of years and the reason they had human dna is because they have genetic technology to implant genetic information of the local species so they can hunt on that planet 😅😅😅 it was explained in the movies
In my opinion, I don't like the idea of the Engineers creating the Predators. It just ruins the Predators really...
i would prefer them to be a rival race or a race that's more powerful and gloats at the Engineers by killing humans for sport.
I don't really like the idea that any of them were 'created' to be honest, but I still like all the films. I can at least tell myself that I don't know where the black goo stuff came from or how the xenomorphs came to be created. If the engineers are really our 'creators' like the films suggest then clearly they could have created the xenos the same way. Same with the predators. We really don't need to know and I prefer not to think about it.
As far as I'm concerned it's not canon that the engineers created us, because it seems too unlikely to me. If they really did come and visit us they'd have made it much more obvious. I have to suspend my disbelief far too much to care about who created who lol

I agree. They are not connected but someone wanted to squeeze a square peg in a round hole. It makes no sense. It was done for money and the entertainment value. Also, if David created the xenomorphs, why are there xenomorphs wall etchings in the cave when David and the others go exploring. I think the writers threw many things out there to see what stuck and now they are trying to neatly line un and connect things to try to make sense.

David is the "RE-creator" of the Xenomorph. He discovered that the Engineers had the ability to perfect life to its highest survival possibility by turning any complex life into the ultimate example of a resilient form such as the Xenomorph species. He could not have invented the species (think the Xeno mural in Prometheus), but discovered likely that the black-goo was derived from the Xenomorph DNA which has properties to adapt and mutate other life's DNA to help them reprogram host organic life forms on almost any world and reshape the domestic life forms as the Engineers see fit. The Xenomorph by nature developed as a life form that has over time the ability to turn any organic animal life form to produce more of their own kind through cellular transformation and integration. Imagine that the Engineers had to "force" themselves to evolve or try to stay the same by seeding their own DNA across the stars, but discovered a life form that managed to do what they did, naturally. That miracle of life is why the Engineers in Prometheus both worship and FEAR the Xenomorph, because in order for their own race to survive, they have to both use the Xeno to seed Engineer life in the Galaxy, but also to hold the Xenomorph species at bay to stop it from taking over every life sustaining world and turning it into Xenos overrun planets.
Imagine if the Yautja is part of the strategy, a race that according to Shane Black's version in The Predators, possibly were made genetically to hunt and manage the Xenomorph population. They too have the ability to modify their own genetics and adapt by integrating superior life form's DNA. Those "worthy" races who can fight and survive their hunts, are harvested and their top samples taken to be spliced into Predator genomes to make them smarter, stronger, and more durable hunters and killers of Xenomorphs. Some Yautja modified their genes without abiding by the honor code of the hunt (i.e. Berzerker Predators in the film Predators are not a subspecies but a heavily DNA modified rebel clan, possibly the same ones that created the Ultimate Predator assassin in The Predator). We are all just part of an inter-galactic arms race, to hold back the Xenomorph hordes. The Engineers are the gardeners, and only by trimming the weeds and clearing out the weak, can the strongest and most beautiful life thrive. That is what David discovered, and embraced, the true purpose of life, is to ENDURE. But he embraced the Xenomorph.

Wayland had an interest in archaeology and that's what lead them to the pyramid in AVP and again to that planet where the Engineers created the black goo
So since the xenomorph was already made and documented via National Guard in AVPR that would have been the start of the search and since the knew about LV426 they must have found David and that colony ship he comandeered at the end of Covenant
I personally do not think that the Engineers created the Predators. However, the fossilized egg that David found in one of the written versions of Covenant could easily explain that the xenomorphs have been around for quite a long time
Once you create a fictional universe like this and make the choice to release it to the imaginations of billions of conscious beings, whether for profit or pleasure, it will take on a fate if it's own. Whether Ridley Scott likes it or not, it seems these two fantastic stories have become one.

Definitely. From reading Darkhorse comics in 1989,I know thats where AvP started. Thats where Predator 2 got the idea to plant the xeno skull on the clan ships trophy wall. Where they got the idea to have Greyback give Harrigan Andolini's flintlock. They even paid attention to the Predator comic enough that they placed Greyback and his clan on the ship. Tieing them into Predator verse/canon in comics and movie representation.100 points for paying attention to the comics and giving respect to the fanbase and verse they were making the movie about. Thats how you make a good Predator movie.
And yeah, from then on the joining of the xeno and Yautja verses have been inevitable one way or other. I respect Ridley, can sort of understand his reservations. But at same time, Aliens verse was also Dan O'Bannon 's vision and baby ,not just his. And the Predator and Alien creatures just go together, like it was a natural thing, always meant to be.The Engineers connection is now 100% tied in with xenomorphs since Prometheus. So yeah , those 3 species are living in same verse now as a default.

Wasn't there a xeno on one of the murals they spotted in prometheus? Suggesting that David was unlocking them rather than creating them. Also engineers creating predators .. if that was true I wouldn't expect the predators to be so advanced, physically so different to the engineers (almost reptilian) and using language based on the ancient languages like David learnt. Most likely just another race of aliens living in a nearby galaxy. Perhaps the Xenos were originally created as a weapon to combat the predators in a war. Would explain why the predators now use Xenos as their ultimate challenge and continue to practise hunting them, to stay stronger than them.

The Engineers use Xenomorphs to take over an enemy region, then recruit the Yuatja to clear the Xenomorphs from infected worlds.
Imagine Engineers locked in a galactic civil war of some kind with other Engineers or aliens like the Thing®. Perhaps the Yuatja provide mercs and clean up crews to manage populations like they did on Earth in Aztec times. Now Imagine why Dinosaurs were wiped out for a reason.
Maybe Engineers brought the Yuatja out of the jungle and taught them weaponry, science and ship building for the farming missions. There is art work of an Engineer with a shoulder cannon similar to the Yuatja's design, except it was grown to the body using the black goo. Yuatja have a non intergrated disposal version. No way Yuatja made half their own tech.

I think what happened is that instead of creating xenomorphs he reproduced them, if you look at the temple in the engineer ship theres a mural in which a xenomorph is depicted.
David made a prototype of a perfected version of the Xenomorph. And from his reaction after Danny defeated the one at the end he seems to have plans to perfect them even farther.

In Prometheus when they first go on the Alien ship there is a carving of a Xenomorph on the ship so that was before David knew anything about them, go back and watch it and it's there clear as day.

I don't agree with Ridley Scott. Putting aliens, engineers, humans, and predators in the same universe gives the story infinite room for growth. Why not capitalize on franchises and build them to great heights using your talent than going in an oddball direction that leaves the fans disappointed.

Ridley Scott probably didn't see The Predator yet simply because the spear that one of the young bloods made for the protagonist in AVP the one with the Xenomorph tail tied to it is in The Predator and considering how there are a large amount of fans that would want to see another AVP so...
Ridley did create Prometheus. Thus you can tell he is losing his edge.

Also, I'd like to add, the civilizations created by the engineers are all humanoid (Yautja are just completely different and why would they go from trying to create one type of civilization to such a radically different one? Engineers would tweak the formula gradually looking for the right balance not change the entire basis of their project) ... also the Predators created space travel, stealth tech and energy weapons along with various imaging technologies probably thousands of years before humans...maybe even longer. Their planet is also portrayed as pretty inhospitable.... I doubt the 'Gardeners' ever touched such a planet.
I honestly really like this set of theories that was just mentioned about the connection between, Engineers species, Alien species, and the Predator species.
Alien vs Predator is something we need more of we need to expand this universe.

As per Alien vs Predator movie, it seemed that the predators created the xenomorphs to ultimately hunt them as per their basic instinct
It makes sense that the predators would be at war with engineers, having been the ones who propagated the aliens throughout the universe.
It also fits that the predators might have been the ones attacking the engineers in the footage in Prometheus.
I just can't get down with David creating the xenos. Even if you take predator out of the Canon there are depictions of them in Prometheus. That would mean they were around in some form before David was made
David did NOT create the Xenomorphs, he merely produced his own variations of Xenos, and although Scott voiced his interest in making David a "creator" of sorts, the actual film left it largely up to interpretation and even the official novelization revealed that David found a Xenomorph egg which the Engineers left behind and used this in his own experiments. Anyway, there's no doubt that all the twelve Alien/Predator films take place in the same universe, including AVP/AVPR with Prometheus/Covenant. Also, Peter Weyland was born in 1990 and could easily be Charles Weyland's son (or other relative), and Peter only took over the company eight years after Charles died, and there is no contradiction anywhere. Unless Fox comes out and says "this is canon and this is not" then the most reasonable approach to these films is to simply assume continuity between each and every one of them, which is not difficult to do once you clear up some misconceptions here and there. Also, Blade Runner is NOT connected to the Alien/Predator universe, unless some substantial evidence to the claim is provided. Also, seeding life to other planets do NOT make the Engineers into "gods", but merely creators and idols.

Engineers never created the predators and have always been at war. The engineers created the goo as a weapon to fight the predators. Predators are the "goodies" of the alien universe.
What if engineers are exactly that, engineers, lab scientists who develop life in various planets. They are not at war with anyone, they create civilizations on hire for other races, to return extinct species, like for example the xenomorph, or to add life to a dead part of the universe.
What if they created life on earth for the Predator race due to the planet's unique atmospheric conditions, they could have killed the dinosaurs simply because they were not much of a fight and evolved the native life forms further. The same way xenomorphs might have been killed of millions of years ago because they were too dangerous and the engineers had been working on them to dial it down a notch, but then they messed up and had to run away to avoid spreading them through out the universe and obliterate all life. What if the ship that crashed on lv426 was not meant to earth but instead to another hunt planet for the predators, or to some other planet as a mean to exterminate pre-existing life and prevent it from ever resurging.
So many possibilities, and as for what's canon, canon is a marketing plan for companies to cash in on assets, as simple as that. In so many franchises some "canon" material make no sense.

After Aliens (the second Alien movie), they started making mistakes in the Alien world. eg. The first one I noticed is in Alien 3, when an alien came out of a dog, fully grown replacing the entire dog except its skin. Prior to that, there were chest bursters. Even in the very first movie, Aliens grew, even though they hadn't eaten anything.
Going by Aliens (the second Alien movie), the Aliens weren't discovered until the future space Marines went to LVR26. Yet, Alien vs. Predator was set in current times, screwing up the time-line.
As the Alien and Predator franchises have gone on, they've both gone far from the original plot, making less sense as they've gone along.

In the avp war comics predators assume the xenos spawned and evolved simultaneously on multiple worlds...they also acknowledge engineers as an advanced race that is also elusive. Predators mention killing them before too in the graphic novel "hunters paradise"

I always assumed Predators are their own race. Engineers being mostly peace & scientific exploration based, probably didn’t mesh well with Predators; hence the hostility.
I honestly really like this set of theories that was just mentioned; About the connection between the Engineers species, the Alien species, and the Predator species.
I had a theory that Engineers were actually the original hosts or just subservient to predators. I based it highly on the holographic records that David plays back when they first enter the ship in Prometheus. The Engineer dies before he reaches the door and nothing else is recorded on the footage, but it looks like he is attacked from behind. However in Covenant Dr. Shaw is recorded on the ships holographic records. I'm gonna say it might be a plot hole though considering David did make the face-hugger eggs.

He said that only David help create the Xenomorph Eggs so they will only have a way to reproduce whereas in AVP - they already have an egg maker which was the Queen, this contradicts to the fact that Covenant happened years after the year set in AVP which is why what he explains as a possible canon link becomes invalid.
in Alien Covenant, there are even theories that the specimen that David brought back at the end of the film as the protoqueen derived from the genes taken from Shaw since she is technically the first queen to gave birth on the Trilobite Xeno.
Is another thing to consider since the egg maker on the AVP film was in fact a real live Xeno Queen kept in Cryo by the Yautjas.

personally i dislike the idea of all life coming from one place, especially with the Predators being so different from engineers. i mean their both bipedal and symmetrical, but that's almost it. we are way more similar to engineers and so are the humanoids on planet 4. it makes no sense to think predators were made similarly, and we know that the predators have had space going tech longer than humans have had writing. and their tech is in a completely different style, shape and level than the engineers. they're just very different in every way. also i like the idea that the predators don't wage wars, they hunt individually and in packs, but have no interest in conquering, ruling or subjugating. it's a more interesting universe if the engineers didn't create the predators, but rather have unique evolutions in a shared galactic space. if they mostly avoid each other, but predator have hunted individual engineers or groups of them, just like they do everything else.
we do know from Alien Requiem that Predators are likely not completely sole hunters, and likely have a hierarchy, government and jobs. since it seems like it's that Predator's job to do damage control and take care of the alien/predator outbreak in gunnison. this suggests that a war with them is possible. but i think writers need to be very careful in how a highly ritualized individual honor society would wage war, and why. it would look way different from our typical warfare of attrition, mass soldiers and obedience. we see a brief shot of how predators live in Alien Requiem, and we see some ancient technological ruins in Predators that look like predator technology more so than Alien or Engineer tech. possibly even large cannon emplacements. we know predators live in large urban centers from Requiem, or maybe that particular predator launched from a military or government outpost. maybe there are no civilians in predator culture. that would be cool. make them like ancient sparta- all warriors, and a slave workforce that enabled it to work.
i thought the Predators hunting each other was stupid, but whatever, it's canon now. so we know that there are clans and subspecies variants that fight each other from Predators, and apparently from The Predator which i haven't seen yet because the writing and dialogue looked atrocious. all these things need to be taken into account when considering predators, where they come from and what they are.
having engineers create them takes away more than it creates, so i'm not particularly fond of the idea. plus i like the idea of the engineers being a creative force, the Aliens being a destructive force, and the Predators being fairly neutral and isolationist. which they can afford to be, because you'd have to be completely out of your mind to attack them, so nobody ever does! just accept their little raids, like many indigenous cultures used to do with each other.
it's a roman thing to conquer everything, and use a few deaths as an excuse to kill hundreds of thousands and takeover territory. not every culture does/did that. i like that the predators don't, and seem more indigenously minded, yet are technologically savvy enough and brutal enough that they survive in a universe of human and xenomorph inherent needs for conquest. even the engineers seem to conquer everything as an anecdote of their quest to reproduce and create or recreate. i think engineers realizing that in their quest to create, they are actually conquering and destroying could be a good plot arc for their species in upcoming films.

The Xenos were already around as evidence by the depictions on the walls of the tomb in Prometheus and the fact that the pyramid and flashback on Earth in AVP happened centuries ago.

Correction. Aliens and all the Alien movies with the exception of Prometheus and Covenant exist in the AvP Universe. Predators just don't exist in the Prometheus universe. Just check out the skull in Predator 2 at the very end. The line is drawn pretty clear
