    There's a trick. I saw a windshield repair guy use a match on the inside of the window after the equipment with the glue is already in place. You hold a match 1 inch away on the inside directly on the crack for 3 seconds, then pull it away for a second then three on then one off then three seconds a final time. What that does is heat up and expand the glass and as the glass cools off it yanks the glue deep into the cracks and hardens quickly. I've done this for lots of people, know you know the trick.

    Good one. Though one can see that you pulled up wipers, I would point out that taping the blades isn’t a bad idea, if you have to drive a bit(from alley garage to street)for the sun curing.

    Brought one of these kits here in the UK from my local Halfords car parts shop as I'd got a good size chip in my windscreen , followed the instructions and it worked brilliantly ... Canon even see where the chip was even under cols examination .
    Have brought some more bottles of glass resin and a UV light ( as the chip had been cured in good sunlight but this cannot be guaranteed so got the light ) so any future chips or other people's can be fixed .

    Just wanted to thank you for your demonstration of using this product, I got peppered by a darn tracker trailer hauling gravel, apparently he was out revenge or something as several of my coworkers all got the same treatment within a week! Ok anyway, I watched your video, and then ordered this product, I had 3 lovely little chips that had not spread, after using this product,, I cannot even see where the chips where! 😊 I live in Montana, where we are very prone to rocks finding there way to our windshields,,,it’s kinda a joke when you have cracks and chips in your windshield that it’s a typical MT windshield. I am also a lady, so anyone remotely handy should be able to do this. Thanks again.

They put a bandaid on it today. Finally, something that just goes right. This is already my third windshield. Its Saturday. Work is finished. It almost invisible and a pair of Bosch wipers for free. Insurance did it all. The repairman also took the time to show me how to remove the wiper arms to repaint them properly.

    I've fixed a bad chip before and it held for years but that kit was nothing compared to this one. You can barely see where it was. I went ahead and filled in a bunch of really minor chips too. I cut the uv strips into 2' and 4 pieces . Circled all the chips and put a drop on each. This will work better with 2 people. A helper will make it go easy. The one problem I had was that the suction cups came rotate backwards and the thing wouldnt screw in. then I realized i just had to flip it over. the plunger seated and no sealant came out. filled the hole instantly, My kit was not rainx, it was just like it on amazon.

    • @DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
      @DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10  Před 10 měsíci

      I honestly don't remember but I think just a drop of resin and a curing strip on the little chips. If you can see an actual crack, then the plunger will help push the resin into the crack to fill the void and seal it from moisture. Hope this helps.

    I tried this kit on another car and it gave average results and made the crack spread. This latest crack I used the Visbella kit and it runs rings around the rainx kit and gets the resin in deeper for a stronger bond. Rainx is good. Visbella is better.

      That I don't know. As I understand it, it's the sun's UV rays that activate the repair solution. You may be able to check the product instructions prior to purchasing and see if you can find a temperature restriction. I'll leave a link to the product I used for your convenience if you'd like to check. amzn.to/3GQ8OBo

    • @KenzertYT
      @KenzertYT Před 9 měsíci

      If you can figure out where the crack began, then you have a good chance of fixing it if you just try and apply the resin from the initial spot it began to crack out from. If it is all internal and isn't from an outer crack, you can, if you are going to replace the windshield anyway... Attempt to use a glass bit to drill into the center of the crack, and inject the resin from there (this worked for me but I am VERY experienced and VERY handy..) I would consider either a new windshield if the part is inexpensive, or, I would consider a professional.. They at least have some degree of liability if they make it worse

      I really don't know the answer to your question. I think if you fix it with this kit you shouldn't need to worry about taking it to a shop. The window I fixed in this video has lasted through two winters and it still looks like it did the day I did the repairs. A shop will do the same process but charges you a lot more for it IMO.

    • @DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10

      UV rays from the sun cure the solution so the more direct sunlight the better. You can also so use a UV light.

      I don't think it will make it worse. After the resin has set up with UV light, it can easily be scraped off the smooth surface of the glass with a razor blade. Depending on the depth of the scratch it might take a couple applications to completely fill it up.

    • @DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
      @DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10  Před 11 měsíci

      I used it on a 15" long crack along the bottom of a windshield and it has sealed it well. Not sure if that's the same as a temperature crack or not. It didn't make it disappear but it is less visible than before. Also it did seal it from moisture and stopped it from getting worse.

      @@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 how did this glue reach the crack when temperature cracks are from the inside in between the glass? Did you remove the windshield and do it??

    • @DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
      @DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10  Před 11 měsíci

      Apparently mine wasn't a "temperature crack". You'll need to apply the solution to what ever side the crack is open to for it to work. It has to be able to wick into the crack. If the crack does not go to the surface of the glass it won't work. I think if there is a crack its probably open to either the inside or outside surface of the windshield. I've personally never had one that doesn't go to one surface or another but maybe they do exist.

      I applied it along the crack and then lightly pressed on the edges of the crack to help the solution seep into the crack then finished up the repair the same as a chip repair. The crack will still be visible most likely but it should prevent moisture getting into the crack and increasing the damage.
