Hey man Ik this video was a while back but can u make a more detailed video on how to clean and get rid of surface rust in your engine bay metals, thanks bro
@@mikhailmanalili3394 metal wire brush and sandpaper
Yes! I love w this!
@@chrisfix I just bought myself a Nissan Skyline ER34 GTT and unfortunately they're prone for having rust on the strut towers which mine unfortunately has but I have yet to know if it's only the top plate or if it's deeper, in order to restore the strut tower in the bay does a metal wire dremel such as the one you used in the video and sandpaper suffice? And I assume for sanding it would be working from a grittier grit to a softer grit? Thanks for your videos man as these are going to be extremely useful when my car arrives as it is in rough shape.
I love that Chris has helped me realize that my car is not as scary to understand like some impossible math equation that I thought it was. Saving me tons of money and I'm finally learning about my car and how it works lol.
That’s awesome to hear and exactly why I make these videos!
@@chrisfix outstanding CZcams channel behavior chris! Well done for keeping so in touch with your past videos!
Me too, and I’m a 70 year old woman who now details her own car thanks to this young man!
Honestly...
Yeah mechanics love to want to make you think it's far more complicated than it actually is.
It's strange that 25k people would thumbs down for a gentleman providing a cleaning tutorial. That's bloody barmy
Those weren't people, they were 25k pigs that like to get around in a garbage scowl.
Yes you could put a pic of two little innocent children holding hand with God & you would get thousands of dislikes. I would imagine that after you clean your first engine the others are very easy.
It's like my mom used to say: Some people aren't happy unless they're unhappy.
@@bobmill4824 The easiest way to spot a jackass on the Internet is when they use the word "genius".
They tell people not to clean the engine bay because most people do it by driving to the self-sever car wash, spraying the bay with soapy water, power washing the soap off, and then immediately driving it off. You may have missed it, but that's not what he's doing here. He's going out of his way to protect the electronics from high-pressure water. If the electronics were so sensitive that getting any water on them caused a problem, everybody's car would break down if they drove it in the rain.
I honestly think people get paid to scroll thru CZcams and hit the dislike button. It can be a video of grass or the sun and it'll have 10k dislikes. I think they just need to get rid of the damn button and tell the haters to suck it. Just my opinion
Been stupidly depressed and anti social. Never thought car videos would cheer me up. I think Chris’s happy attitude and love for what he’s doing is why he’s such a great teacher
Glad you enjoy the videos!

When he said 2 hours I was like if he was my manager i would be fired
Me too...
And probably get drunk during the process.
Dude, my wife and I both tackled our 2015 V6 Mustang this after noon starting at like 3pm. We still weren't done after we lost sunlight. Had to resort to flashlights to attempt to finish the plastic protection and still was only able to half ass it until almost 8pm. Granted, the engine bay has never been cleaned, but it looked roughly as dirty as Chris's mustang, so I thought we would have similar results. While it does look ten times better than it did, it's still far from looking new. We're going to repeat the entire process again hopefully next weekend and bust out some cotton swabs because there are SO many hard to reach spots that seem impossible to get to even with wire brushes, pipe cleaners, a ton of soapy water, and detailing brushes.
As long as you get everything prepped and ready, it won't take you as long as you think!
Two hours i can detail motor in 30 minute better then that but i a professional detailer

soxredsox He deserves to get paid good but if you watch his videos he does everything with excellence! That's just part of who he is!
Great job, with fantastic instructions and results! The only thing that would worry me is, when using just the brushes or microfiber wrapped brushes, and fishing them into the tight spaces, I would worry about loosening, not completely removing, wires and harnesses. Not being a big time car guy would mean that I wouldn’t know what things weren’t making the correct connections. So, I will have to be much more careful when getting into the small spaces, or mostly skip them. Either way, the engine compartment will look tons better! Thanks again.
Back in my auto dealer days we used a 3M engine dressing that takes this 2 hour process and turns it into about 20 min. Absolutely loved that stuff. Great video!

Great video dude. I'm a professional mechanic for Lamborghini and Aston Martin Beverly hills. I wanted to let you (and everyone else) know that in my professional opinion, from a mechanical standpoint, every caution and every recommendation was accurate. (About covering the engine, not spraying connectors and the components you mentioned with high pressure water, using the right protectant for plastics and rubber) seriously... well done. I learned a couple things too. :)
I also subbed.
I use a spray silicon lubricant instead of the trim restore around the engine. It repels water away from electrical connections and keeps rubber from drying out and cracking.
Mad respect.

But i snagged it for $800, and it ran, had a new timing belt, and some other new minor parts. watched some videos, replaced the entire front suspension due to rust and bad ball joints, new spark plugs, wires, and ignition coils, new exhaust due to the old one having holes through it, and a new power steering pump. Tejas Kulkarni Just dish soap and water but you can buy the "soapy wooder" sticker here www.chrisfixed.com/store.php fo the memes.

40 year old woman, and im suddenly watching your videos for information and for relaxation ha ha, you have a lovely calm demenour. Also i changed my own spark plugs because of you. You deserve every follower.
Milf cougar after Chris fix… man I need to become Chris fix
im super glad you make videos like this! i'm doing a restoration on an 88 ford and the engine bay is soo dirty. It was so overwhelming but seeing this video makes me way more confident
I'm glad the video gave you the confidence to do this on your Ford! And that sounds like a fun project!
@@chrisfix It's fun but she's giving me a run for my money haha
For someone who is a car novice, these videos you make are perfect. I spent 9 years as a dealership tech and get asked all the time "how do I......?" And my reply is usually "CZcams search 'Chris Fix', he probably has a video for that."
Awesome that's the goal!
I always complain to my husband about him spending too much time on his car, but here I am at 12 AM watching how to super clean an engine bay. This was so satisfying.
Lol glad you enjoyed the video
the only part i didnt find satisfying was when he painted his camera lens
it just kills me when he does that
@@aidankuster1333 haha I thought that part was pretty cool
@G1zm0 abizmo hahaha WOOOOOOW
Nice...
Stop, straight just hold up. You have been explaining the car to me for 5 min, and I already understand so much more then I have ever. I came here for satisfying cleaning and I am impressed with what I found in its place! Thank you for teaching me so much and not even meaning to!
These vids are well put together and presented...... Chris puts a lot of work into the videos..... I appreciate your efforts.
Chris: "This should take you 2 hours"
Me: This little maneuver is gonna cost us 51 years
I promise that this won't take as long as you think!
@@chrisfix
Ok, 50 years.
You don't sound so bad for a man pushing 120
🤣
It took me more than 4 hours, but I knew it would. I always multiply my time estimates by 2 (my wife says it should be 3).
this dude is living the American dream
Chilling outside his house on a warm sunny day and deepcleaning a red Ford Mustang
while being paid $$$$
and being rich enough to afford healthcare
@@Crouder im unemployed and medicaid literally pays everything lol
This channel has the BEST how-to Videos on CZcams, Thanks for all the great content💪
Im blown away by this very inteeligent tutorial and polite talking jeez. U born for this.
Worked great to clean up my engine. But now my teeth are black! You might want to make a video on how to clean your toothbrush.
You mean "super clean" the toothbrush :P
Luke Waterhouse and your teeth
Engine so clean you can eat off of it. He didn't say anything about reusing the toothbrush to clean your teeth lol.
Chris recommended using someone else's toothbrush
Honestly, your videos are the best I have ever seen on the internet. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much you are my childhood CZcamsr I would always watch you every day every night. You are so experienced and good at what you do. You are amazing and I love your content. Keep on going and never give up. This helped me so much to clean my dad’s engine I showed him the video and we later we cleaned our engine by watching your video step-by-step 😊
Thanks a lot! And I'm glad this video helped you and your Dad out!
That toothbrush trick really got my engine shining! My teeth have a grease layer on them now but hey, my valve covers are mirror clean!
LMFAO
Internet's awesome!
Car appearance > Personal health and hygiene

This comment right here actually made my day. I had a good laugh.
This guy is more helpful than my teacher
Sadly, I do not find your comment surprising. :(
Max Wild no shit
Youthman Records where I am from, saying 'no shit' without context is seen as a smart arse thing. are you?
Xxx
Max Wild where I am from, we say smart ass instead of "smart arse".
I was so surprised at how many views this video had, until I started watching it. This is fucking amazing information. Your channel in general is one of the most informative, concise, well presented how-to channels I have ever watched. And it has allowed me to save thousands of dollars since I started watching. Thank you!
Thank you just changed the mounts and your video was very helpful.
Wow, Chris put so much damn effort into this vid. He even did the other engine bays off camera!! He deserves everything man
Thanks Will! I wanted to be sure I covered everything so cleaning all the different types of engines and taking notes while doing each one was the best way for me to do that and to show I am serious about showing you guys the proper way to get amazing results!
ChrisFix: How about cleaning the radiator? Pressure washing my radiator sucks. It doesnt give me a good clean. Any ideas CF?
lol if you Pressure washed your radiator trow it in the Trash and get a new one, once the fins get bent there is no air flow to cool
Yashar ghaffari oh i know...i dont get crazy with it...but thanks for the heads up...
I think he was just so excited with how well it came out that he did all the other vehicles too. That or he wanted to use the other vehicles as guinea pigs to make sure nothing gets destroyed before moving on his drift baby.
1.1m views in one day. This dude's getting paid to clean his own car!
tehbakedpotato Well he is teaching others some techniques and tricks you know!!!
Dude gets paid for DIYs, which are of course, always appreciated by everyone, even if someone knows how to do what he's showing.
Thanks! I cant beat my job. I get to teach the world the proper way to clean, fix, and customize their cars. The pics you guys send in, the comments about how you learned something new or saved a ton of money make it worth every second of it!

tehbakedpotato a good one and don't forget your patron Chris
Excellent video! I will definitely put this in my save file. I like all the detailed info you gave totally obliterating and questions someone might have. Great tips!
This video soooo satisfying to watched from the start till the end.. My car is Nissan Grand Livina, sometimes I clean the engine too
This is about my 14th time watching this.... Its just so satisfying as a car guy
Glad you are enjoying the video!
Same, probably watched it 100 times haha and shared it a few too😍
Coulda super cleaned two engine bays by now!
that is better than any self help video. If everyone watched it the world would be a better place. great to see someone who cares so much, knows what they are doing and does a great job.
I'm not even a car guy and it's still super satisfying
Step one: take a shot every time he says agitate
Step two: get so drunk your car looks clean without cleaning it
I’m 14 😳
I hear the Tim the Tool man's laugh 😅
@@jacobdoesstupidstuff9358 old enough

Thank you for this very informative video. Exactly what I was looking for. Great tip on the water based trim restorer
Excellent video!!! You've earned a subscriber with the first video I have ever seen by you on a subject that I wasn't even researching. Bravo on a job well done! Now I guess I have to see what this channel is even about 🤣
