If I'm remembering correctly, Story 3 had an update:
Husband was, in fact, envisioning himself with the sister and admitted it after being confronted. He swore he loved OP, though, and wanted to be with her. OP told her sister, who was disgusted and went no contact with the guy. He had another meltdown about that. OP divorced him in the end.
EDIT: It looks like there are at least two people with the same experience. The one I'm remember was a nearly identical story, and a third user had something similar (but with the sister's marriage being the trigger) too. My update isn't for this story, it's for the nearly identical one I was remembering.

That was my gut reaction to this story, it might just be because it's such a common thing here to decide who children stay with based on if that means they move and leave their friends or not so the fact that it was already planned for OP to come live with his mom once he started university made me think OP knew this was the decision that was made and this was just the understandable vent about feeling lesser in this situation for a teen. OP's husband's behaviour might not have anything to do with the baby news, and could just be a coincidence.
OP mentioned her husband deals with work and personal stress fairly easily, but that's from her point of view. Her husband might be struggling with something, and probably has been for a good while, but OP opened her eyes to it at the moment her sister announced her pregnancy. I assume her husband doesn't talk to her about stuff, so she just assumes everything is fine, because he deals with it in silence. Most men do.
I mean, if OP and her husband have money issues then a baby is the worst thing that could happen at that time. So, when OP's sister announced her pregnancy, OP's husband probably thought "if my wife gets pregnant right now we're screwed."

Story 3: In my head the whole time you were reading the story, I thought that the husband slept with OP's sister and the kid was his. The shock and getting sick makes sense with that. He thought they were careful and now she's pregnant. He's worried that the sister will reveal that he is the father and he will lose everything. The crying in the shower also makes sense with this outcome. He could be crying because he wants to be a part of the kid's life as a dad, but he doesn't want to reveal that he slept with the sister and if the sister has a boyfriend then, naturally he would assume that he is the father. So in a way he is losing something. The chance to be a father to his kid and potentially be with the sister who he may have feelings for. It's possible that's not the case, but my gut is saying that he slept with the sister and that kid she's having is his or at least there's a possibility it is. Maybe I've just lost hope in humanity.

Story 2: I think there was an update to that story. Apparently, I think OP's mom was given REALLY crappy advice by a professional NOT to separate OP from the grandparents because he's been with them for so long and ... something BS about imprinting. She REALLY wanted to bring OP with her to Vancouver, but didn't want to screw him up mentally-- but SURPRISE!!!
I think everyone had a heart to heart conversation that day and apologized to OP. I think OP's grandparents see OP as their son and don't understand why he feels the way he does and feel that he doesn't appreciate what they've done for him, when he obviously does. It was really crappy for everyone to invalidate OP's feelings like that.
Still doesn't change the fact the mom pretty much went against her gut and left OP behind. I mean, she was young, scared and wanted to do good by OP, but c'mon girl. Yeah, thank the grandparents for being surrogates, but OP's not their kid-- and it was time for her to step up, like yesterday. Anyways that's just what I remember.
*Edit: Okay, I think someone said The mom DEFINITELY wanted to take OP with her after middle school, but her parents guilted/pressured her into letting him stay with them. OP and his mom are reconciling. She always had a room just for him.
Story 5: Drop the GF OP. I keep thinking about that story with the dumb exBF who decided to go into a heroic monologue in the middle of getting robbed at knife point and the OP from that story saved his dumbass by throwing her wallet and dragging him away. Re the second story, I was actually thinking this, primarily based on his grandparent's reaction. To me, it sounded like his mother's parents pushed her to continue with her life and took him in as their child, but unlike many cases where the grandparents step in, they were honest with him, and his mum actually did love her child and did what she could to be in his life. So that meant he never truly understood that he was, by prior arrangement, his grandparent's child.
I think it is also important to remember that contact over the last couple of years was going to be limited due to covid, especially when younger, more at-risk children were involved.
I actually don't think there are any true idiots in this case; I think all elders cared and were doing their best for OP, giving him a stable upbringing, being honest regarding his mother's role in his life, for attempting to still be a part of his life despite the distance, etc. The pandemic and misunderstandings got in the way giving OP a sense of abandonment, and rather than speak out, he bottled it up, and it grew into a more significant thing.
R/ I think is too hard on his mum and Jack not moving him to live with him. Based on timelines, he would be settled in school, and he would have a routine and a strong bond with his grandparents who were raising him. It would be better to keep him in an established home than to put him into a very new situation, in which both parents were working, or a young child would monopolise their attention, whilst instead, the grandparents would be able to provide him more attention and time, and he was settled with them.
I really hate the judgment r/ gave as I'm sure his mother felt guilt abandoning him, but I honestly think she put him first at every point; at the cost of her relationship with him, it is doubtful anyone would recommend moving a child from a longterm stable home and putting them into a loving home, but one in which is a. Unfamiliar and b, with people who they have only a limited relationship with. I think the most telling line in this post is when he comments that she stopped bringing him gifts. To him living with his mum would be rainbows and sparkles every day, spoiling him as she did on visits. Still, in reality, he would have to share her with her husband and their children, and based on this post I don't think he would find that easy, as well as having to be actually parented by her rather than being the fantastic mum who visits, bringing gifts, hugs and never being a parent in the sense of being in the position of day to day rule setting and enforcement. I also think her visiting him less was more to do with travelling pregnant or with young children during a pandemic. At no point do I see any of these relationships as toxic; they are trying to do the best for him and give him a good childhood. However, like every good family, there's miscommunication and times when mistakes are made or things do not work out how we intend or dream.

-He had been sexually assaulted by the sister and she got pregnant because of it (and quite a few reasons for his reaction stem from that, like trauma or fear that she might use the pregnancy to destroy his marriage)
-He found out he has fertility issues, is insecure about them and hasn't told OP because of that, and the sister being pregnant just reminded him that he might never be able to have biological children with his wife (which I imagine must cause a lot of stress in people who have a great desire for biological children)

She went to school with the understanding that she could take OP home when she graduated with her degree. Her parents refused, something along the lines of OP already establishing root with them. I believe the mother did go to court to battle them. I also think that it had something to do with her parents having strong ties in the community, so this wasn't helpful. The grandparents want to take away visitation. They were also making her feel guilty for only showing up when she could. Which wouldn't be an issue if they let her take him back. Mom was also told to keep her distance. Mom felt super guilty for this all along. I'd have to go read it again.

So, on the 2nd story, there was an update that R slash must have missed, but other commenters here have also mentioned. In that update & OPs responses to the first post, a lot of important info is added:
    - It comes out that OPs grandparents are "old fashioned", but struggled to have children, only finally successful when his gma was 46 & gpa was 52! They admitted to OP that they "spoiled" her & "she was their favourite out of all of their kids". So there must have been fosters children or adopted siblings of OPs mom (perhaps all grown by the time she was born even), but both their "old fashioned" & history of taking in foster/adopted kids, it explains why OPs mom didn't have (or wasn't given the option of) an abortion.
In an additional problem, it also suggests that OPs grandparents likely saw OP as THEIR child*, another chance to maybe "do it right this time", & it may have never occurred to them that OP & his mom would want a mother/child relationship to themselves. I'm concerned that OPs grandparents never saw OP as anything other than another "miracle child" of THEIRS. They were also used to being "older parents", so didn't see being 61 & 67 as a barrier to raising a high energy baby/toddler/child.
*I'm also concerned about how OP was conceived, since any time OP has tried to bring up his bio dad, the grandparents get angry & OPs mom gets sad/quiet. For a min, I was concerned about a religion/cult aspect, with such a preference for large/bio families, the tension between grandparents & OPs mom, & attempts to both isolate OP from his mom, while flip-flopping between golden child/scapegoat with OPs mom & OP.
However, they don't seem gullible/unreasonable enough to be in a religious cult since they seem to be appropriately afraid of COVID for their age, put down boundaries with OPs mom, Jack, & family that they must follow COVID safety protocols if they want to come visit (which caused a significant increase in isolation, since they refused to follow the rules), & allowed OPs mom to finish high school & got a college education.
    - When OP was 13 & about to start high school, his mom really wanted to move him in with her, but the grandparents argued with her "a lot", eventually convinced her that it was in OPs best interest to stay with them. She took OP to a sports game & saw how much fun OP was having with his friends, which solidified her decision that OP would be better off staying with the grandparents. At no point was OP asked, included in, or even notified about the conversation until after this initial post. I have a feeling this was discussed frequently throughout OP's life & every point of change in OPs mom's situations, but saw OP going into high school was the last straw/chance for her to move him in before college.
-OPs mom mentions how "independent" OP seemed & that OP didn't seem to need as much attention since he always had his grandparents. I wonder how often the grandparents used these two points to drive a wedge between the two, along with any other "mistakes" & "poor decisions" OP's mom may have made throughout her life to underscore that they (again, senior citizens) were better equipped/models than her to take care of OP.
-OP mentions that there was a child psychologist involved around age 5, when OPs mom had finished school" that agreed with the grandparents that "it would cause me damage to rip me away from my grandparents when their home was all I'd known".
-OP was also frequently referring to his half siblings as "their kids" & didn't really notice he did that, so I wonder if the grandparents see OP's half siblings as their grandchildren or just use different language ("your mom's kids" vs "your sisters") because they don't see OP as a grandchild, but rather a child.
-OP mentions that when he has tried to talk to his grandparents about moving in with his mother, " they just went into a rant about all the things they've done for me that I should be grateful for.
Honestly, I think the grandparents are 95% at fault here. OPs mom didn't have a great start & it sounds like she wasnt given any options to have her son BE her son. It sounds like the grandparents got a psychologist involved & likely threatened to sue for full custody/rights when she tried pushing for a closer relationship or to move him in with her, but since OP is now old enough he can legally choose, the grandparents are relying on emotionally manipulation, like needing help as COVID risks, while giving him the impression they are giving him more freedom. I'm curious to see if they allow him more time with her.
    - OPs update was essentially his mom & jack apologized for their distance, all the above updates that prevented them (likely legally) having him visit more or move in, OPs mom/Jack promised they will have space for him despite the baby, there is mention of their basement that's being rented out currently, will 100% pay for his college, are looking forward to him moving in for college, & excited for him to finally be living with his siblings. There's no mention about how the grandparents are taking this or if they will be ok with OP going to see them more, especially since its still such a severe COVID risk for him to be coming & going to a home that doesn't take protocols seriously.

If anybody is wondering about the story where the husband broke down in the shower situation it actually turns out in an update that he was in love with the sister but was pretending to be in love with the original poster to get closer to the sister-in-law which is the original poster sister and secretly confess this all to the original poster till she eventually broke down and told it to her sister Sally because she was pissed off at the time and even went so far as to ending her relationship with her sister I'm not too sure where I remember hearing the update but I do know that's what all went down and it's really really depressing and really sad so hopefully we do get the updated story for this one on the best of redditor updates because I'm not going to lie it was one of the more upsetting ones I've ever heard of a long time because of the fact of how long the husband just was secretly trying to go after the sister and hoping in some way she could find a way to break up the marriage not they knew she would be happy with the guy she was previously with

Most hormonal birth control is only about 91% effective with average usage. People get pregnant on birth control literally all of the time. From the way OP spoke about it, it doesn’t seem like they had actually had a conversation about what they’d do if the gf got pregnant (since he *assumed* she’d want to abort). I get him not wanting to be a father and not being ready for it, but I also totally get her not wanting to abort her pregnancy (especially if it hadn’t been discussed beforehand). Having an abortion is also a major life decision. This is a complicated matter, but it’s not fair to immediately assume that she got pregnant intentionally and maliciously. Overall, I think OP isn’t the ass for leaving, GF isn’t the ass for keeping the baby, and OP is a little too trusting with the idea that fleeing the country to avoid child support won’t come back to bite him in the ass eventually.
P.S the pill (which im assuming the birth control OP was referring to) can be up to 99% effective if used perfectly and continuously, but most people don’t take birth control on their periods (unless the birth control was specifically prescribed to manage period pain or another condition), which is part of the instructions, and human error can make birth control less effective like accidentally taking the pill a little late (1-2 hours), switching birth control, gaining or losing a significant amount of weight, taking certain medications, and more.
P.P.S I also understand that OP and gf were using condoms in addition to the pill, but again, condoms are only about 87% effective with average usage. This is especially true if he used the condoms with incompatible lube, used condoms that didn’t fit properly or used condoms that were out of date.

Story 3. I feel like the husband may have just wanted a kid himself and since OP never mentioned either of them being infertile it is possible that either of them could be. It would also make sense that the husband is infertile cause OP never states that she thinks the husband had an affair.

First Story: Ugh, I can’t stand cheaters. The fact she was going to pretend that OP was the father so she can continue to have her perfect life is wrong. OP's ex (I hope shes an ex) is nothing but selfish. Well she lost that "perfect life" along with her boyfriend
Second Story: OP's mom slowly starting to play favorites and abandon OP. She is starting a new family with Jack and by her stopping the visits its causing OP to feel like they don’t belong to this new family. The fact that everyone is getting mad at OP for calling out their mom for being a horrible mother and person is insane
Third Story: Obviously, OP's husband got sister pregnant or he might be the father. If he and OP's sister wasn’t sleeping together, why is he reacting this way to the news of the pregnancy?
Fourth Story: I don’t even know what to say about this story. Left an entire country to avoid child support

The sister invites him over for some reason maybe a problem but she spiked his drink so she could do the nasty with her dream guy and she got pregnant from it and he knows she did something to him maybe she gave him some signs so she might have done that and now hes struck with greif and trauma because of her and now he might think she'll lie and say that he has a willing affair with her and his wife leaves him a d she gets him because of the baby

Story 2: My friend had her child young and even if she needs help she’s still going to college, working full time, and being a mother to her son. Not everyone can do that, I understand the grandparents taking him. But especially when the mother in the story finished college, she should have taken him. If she wanted to, she would.

  • @shacklefordindustries6075

So I went diggin around on that third story and it turns out that if it is the same story (there were like three other similar stories) ops husband was SA. From what I can piece together the sister drugged op husband, sa him, filmed the whole thing, and blackmailed him with the video to keep him quiet. Op had to delete the post because they involved the police. I couldn’t find if the baby was his or not but a commenter who read the original post said they remember it not being his.
Honestly I feel like this makes sense considering the husbands reaction.

Story 2. My husband's mom did something similar. Except she left him with his grandparents but took the older 2. She said it was for college, but she didn't take him back until well after she graduated.
She then told me how worried she was that he wouldn't recognize her. Okay, but like, then show up? He preferred his grandparents for years and she was upset about it.
