As someone who was actually SA'd in the past and was accused of lying, that story makes me so angry. That woman deserves to go to jail for what she did. She should've come out with the truth way before it ever got to that point. A man is dead because of her. Calling her a murderer is barely an exaggeration imo. At least manslaughter feels accurate to me.

Even if it was just about wanting to fit in, I'm not condoning lying. That was a really stupid thing to do. But naming a person in her lie was absolutely crossing a line. She never had to accuse anyone. That was when it became criminal. It's so sad that even when he proved his innocence, no one would believe him. I wish he could've taken legal action instead of ending it. I almost did that myself when my situation happened and feel so lucky I didn't because things got so much better after that. But now he'll never have that chance.

@WorldTravel1518 Well idk about that... if we make lying a crime I think that's treading on some dangerous territory. A lie of that type definitely should warrant some kind of punishment but not the same as the actual act, and it should only be if it can be proven beyond any doubt, because if not, it would only discourage actual victims from coming out about it since many of them are accused of lying anyway.

Man, I was SA’d as a kid and my brain locked the memory for 10 years. I KNOW it happened but I still have the fear in the back of my mind of “what if it’s a false memory, what if it didn’t actually happen?” I couldn’t even imagine actively falsely accusing a guy just to fit in. To be a woman who hasn’t experienced it is something to be celebrated. They’re the rare lucky ones.

    • @rachelwebber3605

Same here. Same fear. "What if it didn't really happen? I was little, maybe I don't remember it right? Maybe it's not as bad as I remember?" But there are still certain areas that, almost 30 years later, will trigger all the fear and memories if the wrong person accidentally touches (or worse purposefully gropes). My first inclination when I hear of an SA accusation is to believe that something happened, but it still needs to be verified. Which sucks because reliving it sucks, but since false accusations happen, verification must also happen.

I have the same fear of a false memory. One of my friends and I were targeted in a home invasion when we were about 10-11 by a teenage boy who lived across the street. Even as kids we thought he was creepy. My friend's dad was gone for the day, so we locked the doors. Dude knocked and said he wanted to play with us. We said no and tried to close the door. He then forced his way into the house chasing us, trying to pull one of us. We got to the top of the stairs screaming, closed the door. As he tried to open the door and stuck his arm through, we both tackled the door as hard as we could, then push him down the stairs. My friend's uncle next door heard the commotion and saw the door open and went inside and chased him off. IDK if its real or fake. I only started to remember it after my dad had off hand mentioned the name of a pedo who had a thing for my sister had when she was 14-16. Im pretty sure it was the same guy. But its frustrating, I cant tell.

3rd story: Depending on her age, I can understand how the peer pressure manipulated Amy, not that it absolves her. It just makes the story more tragic. Which is in line with what I wanted to say: I hold all of Amy's supporters equally accountable. Not only did they pursue vigilante justice with zero evidence, they continued to do so despite overwhelming contradictory evidence. I hold them equally accountable - in an ideal world they would be forced to do community service, mandatory therapy, something. They should not get off the hook either. EDIT: i just had another thought. Amy's lack of confession notwithstanding, if the system acknowledged that Mark was innocent, why were there no consequences for Amy? Though they cleared Mark, the system failed him.

While i think they're scum i would if in their position assuming Amy had given them no reason to distrust/disbelieve her i'd have probaly done the same... but the second i found out she'd been lying i would have gone scorced earth on her. Withe the no consequences for Amy at the time 2 major factors are at play fear of the feminist lobbies and one of the most coman reasons not to persue legal acusation is "so real victims arn't afaid to come forward, in fear of being prosececuted", the other factor is the police didn't prove she'd hadn't been assaulted just that Mark hadn't done it, so as far as their investigation is concerned (especialy with the feminist lobbies breathing down the necks) is that she WAS assaulted by an unkown 'John Doe', not that the assault didn't happen.

Unless you seriously believe a bunch of SA survivors were saying "You're not a REAL SA victim if you can't remember your assaulter's face and name because you were drugged" then no, peer pressure isn't an excuse. Because she didn't have to name ANYONE. She could have said she didn't know how, because it was dark, because he wore a mask, because she was drugged, or she simply had never met this person before. She could have said a fake name, she could have had it happen in another country. It's a lie, there are literally INFINITE other options when you're making it up. She CHOSE to not only name a real person, but one that was NEARBY. One that the people in that room could and DID easily interact with. She CHOSE not to set the record straight when she saw her lie was doing harm, she CHOSE to let her family waste money on a trial she KNEW was for nothing, and she CHOSE to not tell people to "let it go" after the trial was over.
She burned this man's life to the ground and can't be bothered to even give a spit to put out the embers after he's DEAD.
Let's do a little experiment: see how long it takes you to reply "I lied, mark is innocent" to me, because that's all it would have taken. She could have published the truth for the whole world to read *at any time she wanted* but didn't. She had to CHOOSE to keep living her lie every second of every day until he finally died.

The poor guy recieved 2 years of abuse from the press, lost his 6 figure job and had to pay out of pocket for his legal fees. Thelast i heard he was suimg them for malicious prosscecution. There was another case in Americia, where a guy who due his criminal record was forced to move in with his parents, the neibour acussed him of repeated R-wording her gave very definite time and dates of when the assaults happened, the only reason the guy isn't in prison is the first date she gave he was still IN prison, and a number of others he was on camera (in Walmart buying beer for example), the thing is the defence had to call someone from the prison service to testify, and source the secrity cam vids themselves because the cops just took her word for it.

First story had an update, turns out hubby dearest is a cop (of course) that has had his mates stalk her to work to 'make sure she was where she said she was.' He's sent inappropriate pics to a 19yo, gaslighted her her whole life, dehumanized her interests, hobbies and goals; 'Can't go to uni cuz that's for men, can't take up this hobby you love cuz it means your trans, can't be mad my friends talk dirty about you cuz it's attention.' etc etc.
She gave him the papers, he didn't sign, and destroyed her headphones when she came home for her stuff. He said even more dark stuff such as 'I'm the only one who'd ever love you' and other stuff along those lines. She's currently safe, changed her numbers, and checked her phone and car for tracking devices, right now she's just going as far in the opposite direction as she can.

From the story about Amy, I know someone who something similar happened to----fortunately he's still alive. But he had a full on baseball scholarship to a college, tons of friends, and was just genuinely a pretty decent guy. He slept with a girl, who was cheating on her boyfriend with a bunch of guys at the time.
Well this girl ended up pregnant, and instead of admitting to her religious family that she was sleeping around, she said she had been SA'd by this guy. He lost his scholarship, many friends, and was treated like a criminal despite being proven legally wrong. He was also forced to pay child support for about 6 months after the child was born.
Luckily he got a paternity test done and she had to back pay him all that money, and she even admitted to lying, but the damage had been done. I personally think anyone who lies about such a thing should be heavily fined, if not imprisoned.

She got less than half the time total than 1 of her victims falsly served. PS. the only reason she got caught the Police where like WTF how does someone get Rword so many times and re-investigated the previous cases, which means that after 4+ years there was enough evidence to exonerate one of her victims, meaning they half-assed the intial investigation.
