  • I get emails on dieseltechron asking about no starts related to no base oil pressure. I make these videos because it hard to answer everyone or explain what I'm talking about. It's a lot easier to make a video and show what's going on. Hopefully this helps explains what to look for and why.

I work on quite a few 6L and I just want to say your videos are awesome. i own my own shop and I even worked for international for 4 years, diamond certified, and I'm pretty sure I'm still an amateur compared to you. I'm working on one right now that came in no start. I traced it back to no base engine oil pressure. The anti drain back valve was broken with the upper part and spring missing. I replace and now it starts but I am having 10-15 second crank time and the oil gauge is dropping out at idle. by the way, the missing pieces from the anti drain back were nowhere to be found. So naturally I'm looking for a leak in the system somewhere or damage to the pump. I did remove the pressure regulator to check for debris and all was ok. Any thoughts or should I Just straight to removal of the oil pump?

When I run the air test in the ICP port, I have air coming out of the turbo oil supply hose. is there a check valve under the oil filter that is stuck open or would that be a bad HPOP? Truck is an 06 F350.

How do you replace the anti drain back valve? Is it just a pull out? I can't find a video on that at all and don't want to break anything.

Was it a lifter bearing needle? Sure sound like it. Trucks probably long gone by now I'd imagine.

@@georgesrisomsak9650 I have no idea what it was... but drove the truck another 60k miles. Ran perfect . I did sell it though running great!
I "think" it was just part of the oil cooler to be honest. Never seen any more after that. Got lucky that it was trapped in the oil cooler

ye... if u dont have base oil pressure expect to yank the engine and inspect the bottom end.
least in my eyes i wouldn't waste the time gambling if a band aid would work
