Thanks for the video. Helped me a bunch today. Quick tip-I put zip ties around those two bolts under the flange head and cinched em down real good. Just in case they fall they wont go too far. It also helps hold em up a bit.

Nice job Ron!! I see we both have love for the m12 ratchet. By far the best tool purchase to date and I have a tool box as big as yours. We must think a like cuz I cut down a wrench for the ipr as well. My 6.0 experience is on E-450 buses so its nice to see what the truck guys are doing. Thanks and keep em coming.

A trick I use in these situations is to lay a piece of cloth down underneath what I'm taking bolts or nuts out of in case I drop one. The cloth will catch it. I also have a telescopic magnet that has saved the day many times.

There is a normal leak from the pump itself behind the gear. That is okay to have a small leak there.

Ok Ron have the motor apart changing the oil cooler and took the valve covers off, and HPOP off air tested everything. I only hear a slight air noise in the HPOP. Nothing from the oil rails at all. Here is what I've done so far, new stand pipes, dummy plugs new oil rail on passanger side, ,new injector orings and seals, new nipple cup orings on drivers side. The only place i hear slight air leak is at the pump itself. 2006 f250

just as good as rusty!!! and you can use a piece of duck tape, or any tape that as good, over top of the bolts if your paranoid, just make sure the cover is CLEAN so the tape sticks when u get the cover close to the right spot and its not rotated anymore just push down and use the bolt to push the tape off.

    Hey Ron,
I cant tell you how much I have learned from your well done videos, THANK YOU. One thing that is still unclear to me: is there a way to determine, or at least determine the odds of the pump itself being bad vs the STC fitting once I have it out? When I block both input and output holes on the pump from my '05 6.0, with the IPR firmly installed, and spin the drive gear, it turns with a lot of initial stiction, and then I really don't feel any suction or pressure at either port. Is this normal? How do you decide to replace a pump vs an STC fitting? Thanks.

Thanks for the video. Its the first thing to maybe lead me in the right direction.
I have fuel pouring down the back of my 6.0. Man is clean and no leaks from the fuel filter area, its not running down the valley, but I can only see until the turbo.
what could be leaking this much fuel at the back of the motor? mostly passenger side but coming from both sides. Thanks

    I have 2006 F/350 SUPERDUTY 6.0
During normal driving conditions the clutch fan tends to wind up without a/c. Eventually it heats up and once has done this, I can pull over and turn the truck off and immediately start the engine and it has returned to normal operating temperature but the fan is still engaged.

Help! I have an 05 F450 with 6.0 PS. I have owned this truck for 5 years, love it. In the summer when temps rise outside, the truck runs fine. But when you shut it off, it wont start unless you let it cool down. Not the engine, the breaker/fuse box that is in the engine compartment. It's on the driver's side close to the firewall. All the truck will do is flash "check gauges" until you wait about 10-20 minutes. Then fires up and runs fine. No problem during cool to moderate days. What in the world is causing this? I have asked several techs, they say they never heard of such a thing. What is that box called and why is it doing this?

Thanks Ron. The only place their was a leak was in the orifice right by the gear on the HPOP. I found zero leaks in the branch tube. I made a special fitting out of an old STC to test without the pump installed. Its just strange that the pump only seems to fail when hot. I figured it would fail all of the time? Thoughts?

Hey, love your videos, helped me narrow down my 6.0 hot no start to probably the hpop/plugs. Now just have to get it done. If I did an EGR delete and didn't get a SCT to turn off the CEL would I have any other adverse effects or just the light? Where are you out of, I'm curious because of the palms behind you in one of your videos?

Tips for anybody that dropped a bolt. ( I dropped one..) If you don't have one of these already, go to Amazon and get it. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A0HKTG2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
it will reach the bottom of the oil pan and the bottom of the block behind the rear block cover directly below the pump gear, where I found a ball bearing (from an old pump) that had been there for years. I dropped a bolt down past the cam and ended up finding it after removing the oil pan.

  • @AceBoy2099

Hello Ron. I just recently replaced my stc fitting and after attempting to crank and purge air, I cannot build more than 280psi on my icp. I attempted a pressure test and i can only hear air bubbling out from the oil fill tube on the passenger side valve cover. Were should i proceed from here?

hey there I have a 2003 6.0 and I have replaced the hpop 3 times so far as of 216k miles. I have recently been encountering issues with it wanting to start hot. it starts cold fine but when it does start its really aggressive and it starts like I have my foot on the gas for a quick second . so I went and unplugged the icp and it starts like a normal 6.0 should but I still have the same problem hot do you think its a faulty icp?
