For all the haters can we take a moment to realize what this Plaid is accomplishing, racing strip ready cars !! Wow
P.s that’s why I got one
That was fun Andrew I'll catch you at the next one.
Sorry I couldn’t be out there this past Wednesday, it was a special day for my wife and I. But I saw that you were out there. See ya next time!
@TeslaPlaidChannel My racing season is starting so I don't know when I'll make it back down there but I'll continue enjoying your videos. Have fun and stay safe.
Just insane what these cars can do. Vs something you could never drive on the street
So close with the 427ci Camaro. It is funny that there were so many more intimidating cars when you raced the Model S Raven that you would get edgy and run the occasional red light. But it has been a long time since you have been racing the Plaid that you were cutting it that close to make the win. But the 427 Camaro is nearly a match for the Plaid with a quicker launch, and you reeling him in at the end, plus he was steadily cutting close lights, so it is understandable that you were trying to get an edge. The Hellcat Cuda was very cool! And I even like the color.
The camaro is very impressive. Naturally aspirated 427 is working very well if it’s almost keeping up with the plaid.
😃It’s an awesome NA motor 😃
Great video as always. Thx Andrew
71" hellcat cuda" ultimate radness,
Great races Andrew! ⚡️
Thank you
That cuda is beautiful
👍Agree!
Great races! Are you going to be at Bradenton on Thursday? I'm thinking of taking my MX Plaid on Thursday to test my new tires. Did not go with factory tires, so, I wonder if it will affect my times.
👍 Yes I am! I've got Nittos on the back right now, and they failed miserably in the cold this week (not shown in this video which was last month). Haven't tried them at BMP yet, so maybe Thursday will be the first time😃
Hope to see you there.. As of right now, I'm planning to go unless something comes up and i can't make it. Weather forecast looks good as of right now.
I’m no expert here but I do own a hellcat so for what it’s worth After looking at the burn out with the cuda having the hellcat swap 6.2l I realize he maintained rpm in the same gear. Then he let go and let it catch. Minimal smoke as wheel speed makes smoke. Ideally roasting it through 1st and 2 gears or starting in a higher gear will give more wheel speed and more smoke especially on a cold day where it’s needed also laying more hot rubber to and through the line. if you roll through and back up for the extra glue and then back into the grooves to stage it provides a better hit. Also a tip I learned was to Carry a burn out through the line you pull up to the water box blurp the throttle for a full rotation then pull up a tad and nail it in place until billows come out and let go it helps carry the wheel speed enough to plant the rubber where you need it heating the track allowing for a hard launch. Just some tips I’ve learned. Hope it helps.
Never seen you so jumpy. Must have really been pushing for perfect RT's this night.
Indeed, and a perfect reaction is impossible without a perfect staging depth. Any deeper than practiced = Red.
Sick week just ended last week in Florida,
Drag and drive event,
You would have cleaned up!!! Andrew, I’m sure won your class!!!
Only 1 EV did the week long event.
The plaidodsey
Plaid swapped Honda minivan.
I was hoping to see you.
But I know it’s a big commitment to drag and drive for a week straight.
👍Maybe after I retire! 😃
1st comment again!!! I love this channel!! Today is my 58th birthday. Everybody Holla at your boy!!!
👍Wishing you a great one! The long hours of video editing are worthwhile if you enjoyed the post 😃
@@TeslaPlaidChannel Always enjoy them and look forward to seeing more
Yes sir, love the post and happy birthday day! Great video as always.
@@joshreynolds729 thank you!!
@@greglaird299 No problem brother, hope you have a wonderful day! 👍🏻
Andrew, do the grey hairs scare you? Seems like you always red light against them 😂
👍All that experience! 😃
Race a 60s Hemi Dodge Dart
That 426 Hemi Dart would unfortunately lose by about 15 car lengths, if one ever showed up at a dragstrip. Unlikely we will see one, since only 80 were ever built. It ran high 10s, which was outstanding for that era. “Dodge engineers designed the Hemi Dart to reach 130 miles per hour in under 11 seconds, and dish out quarter mile times in the high 10-second range”
But you just saw this Plaid go 150MPH in 9.2 seconds. That’s a huge 20 MPH faster in 1.5 fewer seconds. A huge difference. About 15 car lengths in the 1/4 mile 😳
Guy says "that's what you put up with on electric cars" immediately after saying his trailered track car would need 10 minutes to cool down before the next run. Boomer logic is the definition of insanity.
The other guy said that not me. Andrew races cars like mine to have close races and yes I am insane.
LOL
That's not boomer logic. That's trash talk. Ignorant, unwise young kids thinking they're smarter than their wise elders is such a cliché.
🎂
Yer electric may be faster but my V8 sounds a lot better!
We love a great V8 or V10 as much as anyone, and we get a smorgasbord of them in the lane next to us! 😃 (Until they as so far behind that we can’t hear them anymore.)
But no trophy at the track for “best sounding car” 🏆. First to finish is what counts 👍
I love how you make all the excuses before each race. I'm only at 70 percent charge and the other lane has more glue, yada yada. Why don't you come prepared before you race. Charge your car up. Get it ready in peak performance before each race.. You have all wheel drive. Also, you don't know how to stage your car at the tree. When you race someone you first roll up and light the first light up, then you wait for the other racer to do the same and then you roll up to light the second light. You are rolling up and double stagging both your lights before the other racer has one lit up. That is a rookie mistake and you would be disqualified and or rolled back if you were racing at an event. Learn racing etiquette
Rookie Commenter mistake: Making accusations about us not understanding staging etiquette when THE PRE-AGREEMENT IS RIGHT ON THE SCREEN AT 7:30 😳
Racers can pre-agree any staging approach they want. Mel knows exactly why I wanted to go in early with both bulbs, and he was fine with it. But apparently you missed this in your rush to be accusatory.
As for the rest of your petty accusations, we’ve found that viewers prefer to be *informed* about things like battery state of charge, traction factors, staging depth, etc. We seek to educate newer racers.
But “know it all” viewers have all the information they need, before the video even starts. That’s you. For the rest of our viewers, the ETs make more sense with that data. “Why didn’t you run a 5.90 ET as usual?” See, that’s already explained. We actually don’t mind losing races occasionally, it’s preferable to winning every time. We knew Mel’s Camaro wasn’t running 5.90s. Why should we be a bully and come with a full charge? Because that’s what YOU would do?
We have nearly 2000 Tesla timeslips. We know what we are doing. Your comment says otherwise about you.
“Ready to race?”
“No, my car needs time to get to the right temperature”
Now THAT’S an excuse.
We race, whether the car is “ready” or not. We don’t keep other drivers waiting 😃
@@TeslaPlaidChannel Please ignore haters. They know soooo much let them bring their cars out and race us. They are clueless and like to flap their jaws.
@@TeslaPlaidChannel another reason Tesla would never make it in a real heads up class with round robin racing. No one cares about your battery percentage. Just run your race and show your slow times.
@@TeslaPlaidChannel Maybe if you staged correctly you would be ready instead of red lighting two times in a row. ROOKIE
