Special Thanks to @Gregory Mannarino and @Drag Racing and Car Stuff for sharing trackside and grandstand footage!
Andrew, it's great to see you racing not just to win races but also helping your fellow racers get better. Great fun to watch.
4:20 lol man, that Camaro is FAST! 💨 Glad to see it performing as expected now.
Nice, great to see how you and Greg put your heads together on the COPO. Fun to see Greg so excitied about that fantastic run. The camera views were awesome. I know you were spining but that thing took off like a shot. Lot different than the backfire run later in the vid.
👍For sure! Only wish we had one of our many 5.90 runs alongside him so that the side view camera kept him in the frame longer. But very happy that he’s making the passes it should, finally!😃
I am glad Greg got his COPO to run right!!!!
WOW, what a night!
02:33 The spacecraft and the museum exhibits with the hoods up, showing off their (Victorian age) engines - so last century.
16:02 The two blue lightning bolts, 18:14 the latest and greatest cars on the track
Camaro is impressive! I'd like to take that one down the track. Looks like a fun car.
It must be satisfying for Greg to get his COPO Camaro dialed in and doing so well. It would have been even nicer if the track prep was good and allowed you to hang in a bit longer. Of course this scene of the COPO Camaro running off into the distance is what most everyone else gets when racing against you.
👍For sure Dean! And the other (Blue) COPO gave us a similar view last year when it ran an 8.0 at 168MPH next to us 😃
Awesome footage Andrew. That COPO is insane!
Great video Andrew as always. Camaro was on point this time.
Way cool. Seen some of Gregs videos on Doomageddon. Good to see he is having fun with y'all!
Great show
That Camaro is feral lol. Could he shift more weight to the front or change the tune to minimize the front end lifting so hard off the line?
Believe the copo got a bottle 😊
"so what else is new" He, he, he, the Blue Oval and Bow Tie boys never fail to take a shot at Mopar when another Hellcat takes a dump. Love it!
😉
I like Andrew because he just loves all cars and what they are capable of doing. I will say that I do want a Tesla plaid.
👍 Guilty as charged 😃 We appreciate them all! And although we try to cover them all equally, “some are more equal than others”.
Interesting, just ran into a CZcams short video by Chris Chow from Nov.2005 where he ran his 3400 pound twin turbo V 6 Grand National and went 7.97 @ 175 MPH! over 18 years ago and his "STREET" GN was putting down those numbers, and didn't cost anywhere near the money that the COPO Camaro cost!
👍 We’ve seen some crazy GNs at the track. A white one ran 4s at Showtime (1/8th mile) 😳
Put a small jet engine on a bicycle and it runs something crazy in the quarter
👍 True that. Be sure to wear a helmet! 🪖
Yes!!! Been waiting and watching for your next video
👍Thanks for following, and hope you enjoyed it! 😃
@@TeslaPlaidChannel I did very much as usual
Lipo battery lag is really minimal until 60% left or below 50°f.
At the end of this video, our 2019 Tesla experienced all of those! 🥶
I'm sorry: I say this jokingly and I'm not trying to be too serious but... am I the only one who thinks Greg acts like he might be on some happy pills? 🤣
What happened to the guy with the 9.0 sec C7 Z06? He not racing these days?
We haven’t seen Jim out at the track in quite awhile. We knew he was having overheating issues, so we hope that didn’t cause a failure of some sort 👍
Would have liked to see that 327 Vette make a pass my guess is 9.1s at 79mph
Maybe Kelly Brockel (the owner) can comment here when he tunes in 👍
@@TeslaPlaidChannel it is a very nice car
Like watching your local be safe have fun
9.3@ 75 lol. Far cry from my mid 5 second car.
@@10sec89 Thanks Kelly for confirming! Everyone loves your ‘65 Vette!
I know it’s not your usual fare, but I’d love to see a long term comparison between the Plaid and the Raven. I also have a 2019 MSP often wonder if I should make the switch, but if you’re still dailying one then I have to ask why.
We strongly prefer STALKS to buttons on a yoke. Swapping for a 'wheel' doesn't fix that. After driving with stalks for 40 years, it's just better for our daily driving. Plus our Raven has much more comfortable front seats. Others that have owned both agree. We don't need 1020HP in a daily driver. 690HP and 10.5sec is plenty. If we didn't drag race, we wouldn't need our Plaid. But with almost 900 timeslips on this one (and ~76 on two others that we sold), we are getting good use out of it.
BTW, good idea on the long term update. Those usually take a lot more work, with a “script” and much more editing. We’d like to do it sometime this year. Highlights: 56K trouble free miles on the 2019 Raven, even after 1000+ dragstrip runs. Virtually no maintenance, still in the original brake pads! The Plaid has 19K miles and almost 900 runs, also with no issues, but one set of brake pads needed around 470th run. (May need another set soon.)
@@TeslaPlaidChannel As long as we are comparing notes, I bought my 2019 MSP in April 2022 used with 66k mi from Carvana. A headlamp showed a flicker after 30 minutes on, and both had fading DRLs, so they both got replaced under Carvana warranty. Later, after warranty, the driver's handle failed. I have 87k now, and no more issues other than wheels.
Oh, the wheels! Mine came with 21" staggered Pilot Super Sports. In the first 6k mi, driving normally, I tore a sidewall and, separately, cracked a rim. I switched to 19" TSportline TSTs with Pilot Sport All Season 4s and never looked back.
I've always been a wagon/hatchback guy and I love the utility of the S. I miss the flickability of my last car (Mazdaspeed3), but what the S lacks in playfulness it makes up for in stability.
The worst part about my Model S? Buying it before the price cuts!
Maybe its time to get some stickier tires? That's surprising you had traction issues, go figure!
We run Nittos at this track occasionally, but didn’t expect to have an issue on this night…
I like how you said the Camaro is trailered because it's not street legal lol My Challenger is trailered to the track but it is street legal but when you make it enough power you're pretty dumb to drive it to the track if it breaks you're screwed getting it home lol
We’ve seen too many of those situations. Guys calling AAA or another tow truck to get home.
Note: The COPO has no VIN, and can’t be registered in any of the 50 states.
@@TeslaPlaidChannelRight it's the factory built race car it's supposed to be trailered I just thought it was funny the way you said because it's not street legal meaning every vehicle that street legal should drive to the track and not be trailered I know you didn't mean it that way I just thought it was funny lol
Mi querida línea izquierda no sirvió
Bunch a Queens! Run What Ya Brung!!!
Greg still can't drive his car.😂
It was just a small red light…and he stayed in it when the wheels were up 😃
Close enough to a loss to count as a loss. Win on a small technicality against a much quicker car.
Well… drag racers know that a red light is not a ‘technicality’. It’s actually the first rule: Wait for green. (We also had 5 previous races between these two cars; how’d those go?) BTW, Greg absolutely 100% won the race vs our old 2019 Tesla (not a Plaid) shown at the end of this video. We both Red Lit, and “first is worst”. I lost that one, on my red light, yet likely would have lost anyway by bringing a knife to a gunfight 😃
I dislike these races versus Tesla's, it's like watching a Netflix movie.
You are watching The Tesla Plaid Channel WHY?
@@jamesengland7461 not anymore, these things are like an hour long lol.
@@tommyhajimoto696815 whole minutes. Oh the agony.
@@jamesengland7461 it's like a documentary, show 2 minutes and get to the point it's what everybody likes.
All racing, no talking: czcams.com/video/qD3Kzg3AL3A/video.html
I love all the excuses you make for losing every race. Oh its my tires, oh, its a full drag car, mine is street legal. yada yada
Welcome to the Channel, where we win the vast majority of races versus trailered cars, including FIVE PREVIOUS RACES versus this same COPO, by getting to the finish line first all 5 times 👍. Even drag racing noobs like yourself are welcome here, as we seek to replace ignorance with drag racing knowledge. And since you don’t yet understand how the tree works, we will explain it for you. You see, a Red Light (leaving before green) is a bad thing and it causes the driver to immediately lose the race. So, as everyone else saw, we WON this race also, due to the COPO’S Red Light. You are welcome 😉
PS: Our other viewers have appreciated explanations about things like traction, track prep, and which cars are able to drive into the track on their own power without overheating. We will try to explain these better in the future, so that even a total noob might understand 👍
Your lame Comments keep deleting themselves? 🤔 Total noob that you are, and don’t even know how a tree works! You are probably a Dodge Demon fan too, and believe all those fake times they advertise. Teslas with more weight reduction than ours run 8.70s (very easy to “modify”) They stomp even the modified Demon 170s. Watch and learn. But then again you can’t even understand the concept of a Red Light 🤣🤣🤣
@@TeslaPlaidChannel sick week is this week, all the cars have to be driven to the track and raced and then driven 100’s of miles to other tracks to race. Please take your slow Plaid there and watch all the cars that will destroy your slow POS- NOOB
electric motors are very quick, instant power, but they not race cars. how ever being that they are quick they should make a special class for them not to mention for those that could afford them, ill be very interesting to see what these guys could make up,
Which do you believe is more expensive? The Tesla or the COPO? (Hint: the latter). On TOP of that, the COPO can’t get to the track without a trailer and a truck to pull that trailer. That adds up to much much more than the Tesla…
