“He seems to be in a hurry”. Isn’t that what racing is about? 😊
🤣 👍🏻
Great runs sir! I’m a Camaro fan but, your car is very fast and very consistent. You have a great attitude toward the other racers even when outrunning them. I like the fact that your not cocky. Props!!
Keep on keeping on Andrew. Good stuff.
Some cool races. I love the sound of Mel's 427 and Claudio's 67 is such a beautiful car.
Man! Those 2 Camaros need to race each other!
👍 Would be a great match!
Great racing!!
Great video!!
Wow!! Y ahora a esperar el otro capítulo 😂😂😂
Yeah The plaid is the best for sure !!! After so many runs it still performer very well !!
Let's see Cybertruck race! Performance/Beast trim please.
*Another great video Andrew!*
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍
That is a 4th gen. Just saying this before you’re attacked haha. Great video
Ha! After owning only 1st Gen (‘69 RS 327) and two 2nd Gens (‘74 350 and ‘78 Z28), I guess I’ve lost track of the later ones (or didn’t pay attention!). Thanks for the catch!
@@TeslaPlaidChanneldang I’m jealous of that 69 RS, one of the best looking car designs of all time!! Love your channel btw
@@andymesenbrink6946 👍 We never sold that ‘69! (wrecked it unfortunately 😕)
Good stuff! Greg M sent me, 🙌🏻
👍Welcome! We’ll be racing Greg’s COPO very soon! (Dec 7th 😃)
1 pass smoked the clutch granny shifting it. Smoked the rear end last time.
Maybe he should consider an ev conversion next? 👍🏻😀
Every time you beat a so called trailered to the track all out race car with your 4dr people hauler on st tires? I have a good chuckle man. 👍🏻😎
what does the Tesla run in the 1/4 mile flat out ? and is it all wheel drive ?
We’ve run 9.15 at 152MPH. AWD, three motors (one on front axle, one on each rear wheel). 1020HP and 1050 torque 👍
What is peak performance battery level?
When a Plaid is switched into “Dragstrip Mode”, the battery is heated to allow maximum power discharge to the 3 motors. This heating process is not instantaneous. Depending on current conditions (operating and ambient temperatures), it takes 2-9 minutes. During this time, the car displays “X minutes until Peak Performance”.
Some ignorant folks will say: “the car is not fast unless you wait a long time”. Wrong. It only makes a small difference (0.10-0.15 seconds in the quarter mile). So instead of running 9.19, maybe we run 9.30. Big whoop. But if we are just waiting in the staging lanes, it’s easy enough to warm it up 👍
Hey Andrew, got a couple of questions for you. How many miles you have on your Plaid now? Have you noticed any diminished performance since youve been putting on miles? How many quarter mile runs? Thanks Man.
Our 1000th dragstrip run in our 10-second 2019 Model S was FASTER than all previous 999 runs:
czcams.com/video/q9opLnq54uY/video.htmlsi=qBtr0uV3MZem1hci
Now with about 800 runs on the Plaid, and 19K miles, it’s still running the same times under the same conditions (9.16 recently, best ever was 9.15)
Need all your slips logged in a spreadsheet to trend battery life etc
👍 We’ve got them in a book.
Battery life: It never drops below 50% when we get home from the track. (It only leaves the garage to go racing.) It hasn’t slowed down, as even after ~800 runs it’s still running within 0.01 of its fastest pass ever.
@@TeslaPlaidChannel yeah definitely awesome how well it performs, if only I could get my hands on one as well
At first I thought Mel said "This is just a punk @ss motor". I had to back it up and replay it. Oh pump gas. Gotcha :-)
🤣🤣🤣
Must be a lot better with a quiet car to get a good reaction time than the rumble of the engine throwing you off.
Indeed, it's easier to concentrate, but when there's a rotary in the next lane with lots of popping and fire-spitting, it's still distracting
@@TeslaPlaidChannel Lol 😂👏👍
@@Qikk-kq9yo Especially THIS one!

Just bought plaid, it truly is sick fast ! Now they are in 60s for the fastest car around
@teslaplaidchannel
Hi. I watch your videos regularly. I'm planning to get a Tesla pretty soon. I was wanting to know your thoughts on how age and mileage are affecting the ET and trap speed of these cars..
I may consider a clean used one.
Thanks!
Also what are real world range differences between the 19" wheel and 21" wheel cars ?
Our 1000th dragstrip run was FASTER than all previous 999 runs:
czcams.com/video/q9opLnq54uY/video.htmlsi=qBtr0uV3MZem1hci
If you want flat tires, less than 10K miles per tire, louder road noise, slower dragstrip runs, and 50 fewer miles per charge, then get the 21”s.
We had two flats in two months with the 21”s. Now in 30 months with the 19”s, not a single one.
When you get a flat with the 21”s, good luck finding a replacement. And the cost is 💰 💰 💰
36 pounds more for the 21”s!

do plaids ever lose? LOL good job. you race everybody and dont make excuses.
He's not allowed excuses by electric car take to track without even knowing why it's fast never work on it yourself not allowed to complain
No no 8 speed is ok 6 speed is juste 400 kmh 8 speed is possibul the 440 kmh look bugatti chiron w16 8 speed 1500 hoseepower the 1500 kilos 450 hoseepower the cars yeeer sorie sir 🙏😑🤲🇫🇷👉🏅
Ok electric car fast now go build your own car then bring it to the track your not allowed to by a car bring it win and brag you should have to at least work on something to race it no pride it your car
We were building engines in the early 1980s. Been there done that. Great experience. Fun to build, test, break, and repeat.
Older now and reliability is important. Backaches from leaning into an engine bay all day are no longer fun. So now we run low 9s all day, with over 1800 Tesla timeslips and not a single failure. Fun in a different way! Don’t like it? Then line up in the next lane and let’s make 20 back-to-back passes with no cool down. We can do it easily without a charge!
@TeslaPlaidChannel well then you got me lol glad to no you did it in the past
Electric is not the future. The grid can’t even charge cars in CA now with only 2 percent of the population owning them.
Who charges from the grid? Not us! Our solar panels charge them even when the grid is down. After a storm when no one can pump gas, we’ve got 2 Powerwalls and plenty of ⚡️to spare. 100% Solar for the win!
czcams.com/video/TsWAltoZLkg/video.html
@@TeslaPlaidChannel have you measured the emf field inside your car yet? Or considered the brutality of lithium mining on the climate and on human beings? Electric is not the answer, it is very antiquated actually..zero point energy for the win.
Oooo, look at me. I’m cool cuz I’m fast…😂
Or…This is what we enjoy (drag racing), and any other interpretation is just somebody’s screwed up “filter” 🤣
@@TeslaPlaidChannel unfortunately that’s not how you come across.
@@dansherwood9851 To Claudio? To Mel? To Don? To David Turner? To Alex? To Steve? Maybe if you were a track regular you’d have an actual point of reference…
@@TeslaPlaidChannel Andrew,
Your replies, appreciation, respect with other drivers at the track are certainly good, likeable, appreciated too.
However, Your replies in the comments along with some inside Your car for Your video recording, reveal some other aspects within Your personal mindset, ideas, concepts
a. You do express Your personal enjoyment with the racing competition, especially to have those which can be close or arrange to be close for a challenge, sometimes especially with those vehicles which are certainly quicker, faster to; no ego with those types
b. however You do also express some comments, aspects which reveal a little bit of ego, arrogance too.
c. the Tesla vehicle as a Lucid and other similar ones are within the "bought; built" category - also without any means to adjust; only via weight reduction, tire modifications for improved traction
d. Though You continue to have the mindset, that battery state of charge affect the result, You clearly lack the basic knowledge of battery power, charge vs charge state, along with the Tesla, Lucid, various other manufactures, producers programs which control the vehicles;
-1. Just as You portable computer devices, including mobile-cellular phones, tablets, laptops, notebooks, camera, players, other electronics, etc. the performance does not reduce due to battery charge, nor with electric motors including portable battery operated equipment as a drill, saw, etc.,, until the charge level is nearly empty, thus certainly the motors for these vehicles.
-2. additional proof exits with common, high performance hybrid vehicles including the version of Hybrid-LM used in road, track, IMSA, FIA, etc. racing. - which run their vehicles at maximum performance until the battery is about 1% of charge, then have a very quick charge during their very quick 'pit stops'.
-3. none of the people that You meet at these Test-N-Tune weekly events have any ideas, concepts, principles about physics, engineering, electricity, electric motors, etc. including other electric, hybrid vehicle owners; so they just accept Your statements as nearly every one of Your viewers; as most viewers with every channel; with their ignorance too.
-4. these runs, passes, as with others, especially since You have accepted to reduce the charges to 85%, per recommendation [many devise manufactures are recommending these too before Tesla, even designed into the S/W, systems for extended battery life] with the performance, are proof that higher among of charged does not result in the best results, rarely the first run of the night, with upper 90% [93-8%] compared with 80-5% or 50-75% are not the basis of best results; the keys as also stated are "Traction", "Traction", "Traction", more "Traction", along with power/weight, and aerodynamics as Kyle Wade & Wyatt with their "E-Roy" Tesla Plaid, and the fellow in Canada with his gutted Tesla Plaid, using M/T Drag Radials [now on all four aluminium wheels]; Chet also saw the same with his Plaid too as others.
e. Certainly You are enjoying the use, racing, experience in any case,
All The Best, Sincerely
Oooo, look at that Plaid. Fast, and quiet, and self driving, and fewer moving parts, and no greenhouse gas, and😂!
