When you just finish a fresh exhaust job and are trying to find leaks (or no soot buildup yet) go across the exhaust with a small but long heater hose. It’ll magnify the leak and pin point exactly where it is. I’ve found the most minuscule hidden leaks so fast this way!
Or a diesel with truck will do with the turbo sound lol. I found mine like that. Just listening and feeling around. Obviously not touching the hot exhaust but still feeling for air movement from the exhaust itself
it's easier if u do it on a cold start and spray some soapy water, see any bubbles bursting out means that is where your leak is, if eyes is the only thing u got then check for unusual carbon spot if there's an exhaust carbon (black) it means that's where the leak is from.
Also the smoke machine or another $1000 more out less. I know things can be had cheaper but when you rely on these things you want a garage they work well and can be serviced off they don’t.

A lot of manufacturers make certain joints have a slight gap until they heat up to make sure moisture can escape when the exhaust condensates while cooling down. Run it for 2 minutes...I bet those stop leaking lol
Im telling you this is the best way to do it. Its also how you can tell if those crappy two piece plastic intake manifolds have leaks. There is always an exhaust valve open so it should make its way there. 2 birds one stone. You can get rid of a lot of codes on a new car by just fixing those.

Looking for a leak, Ive used a small shopvac on the blower taped it to the back of the exhaust and sprayed soapy water in suspected leaking spots. It bubbles up and can be easily seen. 👌
Or take your shop vac, put the hose on the shop vac exhaust port and the other end on the tail pipe. Could feel the air from the cracks, or can use soapy water, or you could take out the filter in the shop vac and run some smoke through that.
If it's leaking after the post o2 sensor it's not worth fixing... unless it's that noisy for you... because it won't affect your check engine light/emissions or engine performance 🤫

Soap in water, a plug, a blow gun, and air pressure. You don't need a smoke machine for this. A suitable rubber tube 3' long used as a monoscope will work just fine. Children these days
