- Video showing the different motor trim positions for the 3 different speeds. The motor will progressively trim out with each pass.
The amount of hull in the water is progressively reduced as the speed increases.
Top speed of 58.6mph (GPS) on board view at end of video.
24" small eared chopper spinning 5400rpm.

Nice work!...Perfect example of proper balance and trim!👍👌😎
That's a pretty good speed back in those days for that boat. That's back when Mercury was building real engines LOL. Good stuff thanks for posting
Nice....balanced awesome too...love the old Merc...I have a 1963 white 50 hp...on a 1961 16 foot aluminum.
Super cool, thanks for sharing this video, just awesome.
That engine sounds amazing!
I love History On the water
Morning and evening when there is no wind to make WAVES.
I had a 71 9500 from my dad put it on a Glastron gt150 cracked the hull almost tore the transom off traded up to a 81:175 on a 17ft Baja then a hydrostream viper then finally a laser ltv with a 2.5 race motor 95+ it’s a disease😂
Great story! I started with a '61 800, then moved to a '64 1000, now an '80 140; went from 52mph to 63mph to now just over 70mph - it is a sickness, LOL!.
Reduce that white Mercury to 50HP & that's what I learned to waterski behind on a 13 foot Boston Whaler in the early 1970's.
Why did almost everything in the old days have more class than the same item today?
why no hp mentioned it's kinda important don't ya think.
1964 Mercury 1000, crank hp is 100.
My dad had a white 35A.
Think it was a 63 or thereabouts.
Had that exact motor, white 35A on a 1958 Glastron runabout. Great setup, lot of fun.

Ours was a 14 ft Crestliner Mustang. I think they were made by Canbar Marine.
Fun setup but it ended up in a boathouse fire.
The Mark 35A was a 1959 model. The "A" stood for the 20th anniversary of Mercury outboards.
