I have a 1962 merc 85hp straight 6 I’m restoring, awesome engines. I think the years with a regular magneto/distributor are the best engines. Don’t have to worry about the common red stator failures or a power pack. I blew a couple up and rebuilt them really easy, used a butter knife as a ring compressor, tricky with 6 pistons 😂. Also, I've heard that these are actually pretty descent engines. What's your opinion, are they ? Where would you rank it on a scale of 1 to 10 (btw, I mix oil in gas, took oil injection off). That's not the transom, it's motor mounts. Factory hydrostream transoms will run a 200+ with 6 inches of set back for years.
