Since you're already familiar with total boat, they have a product called total tread. Its a non-skid marine deck paint. Its probably the easiest and cheapest route to take, coming in at $100 per gallon. With that said, I would coat everything in gel coat first, just use a roller. Give it a very light scuffing first, acetone rag job, then just roll the deck paint on. If for some reason you ever have to do touch ups, you can purchase just a quart for $30, and it will blend right in, with the same color and texture. Hope this helps

Ya know it's kinda messed up nowadays, but Lowes is actually the only place I could get marine grade plywood, none of the lumber yards had any at all, and I triple checked, it's the real thing
I've been watching 3 other boat building channels on CZcams for a couple of years. I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd be watching a 4th! lol In all seriousness, I'm impressed with the progress thus far. Man, is it allot of work! So cool. Great job. Love watching a good plan coming together. Properly built DIY projects long outlast the factory originals. Most factory boats you buy are meant to fail ovwr time so you are forced to buy expensive new ones. It's like they want us all to go into debt every 4-5 years. Being able to fix and repair and strengthen and improve means you get as good as new and it will last almost forever if you store it properly as well. Again great project. As always love the videos and love the channels.
Totally loved this video. You remind me so much of my grandfather. I’m sorry I know your not old but I remember him fishing all the time. He’d go out to the Salton Sea, (Indio, Ca) for weeks at a time with my grandma. My mother and I would go down and visit them for a weekend. He loved fishing as I loved watching him. Ate a lot of fish in my days!!!
Over engineering by say 50% reduces worry by 200% and gives 100% peace of mind. 👍

MinWax Wood Hardener is a blessing. Its a single part epoxy that soaks in, then hardens.
Those seats are awesome!!! Make sure to put reinforcement gussets under them.... the extra leverage they have will rip the deck apart... I have personally seen this happen. Keep up the great work.

Great Job! Very impressive! You would of made heck of a squid!
Also the marine grade plywood uses a special adhesive for laminating between the layers.
Marine grade plywood also has a water resistant glue.
A little tip for removing the excess fiberglass cloth at the edges: instead of waiting until it hardens and having to use a power tool to cut it, cut it with a razor knife when it's just a bit stiff, about 4 to 6 hours after applying the resin. It cuts really easy and cleanly and with no dangerous fiberglass dust.
And another tip about the epoxy resin that you bought too much of: at least it has a REALLY LONG shelf life. I'm still using resin and hardener that I bought 10 years ago. It freezes every winter and sometimes gets thick and crystallized but you just heat it up to about 130 degrees and it liquefies and keeps on working great.

Kurt you are like Me I tend to over build stuff myself I want to do it right the first time and not redo things a year or two down the road. It is looking good your going to have a Great looking Bass Boat :) I can't wait to see the final product when you are finished with it and it will be way better then Factory that I can tell you. I hate Carpet in boats to they are just a water collector and rot everything under it.

nothing wrong with doing it the right way ....just means you wont have to do it again for non skid surface you can sand to which ever paint you decide on

Good thing you didn’t go for the cheaper plywood ,I did…big mistake..I glassed it but the non marine plywood swelled up like a sponge instant delaminating of the plywood …

Ok I just bought the same boat but a 1999 and going to be doing the same as you did have the floor n foam out just letting it air out for awhile before I get after it.. I seen your material list is there any of them item I'll need to order multiples of?
@@joshlarson7554 I used a lot of the fumed silica. I made a lot of the thickened epoxy to fill seams and such. Definitely get a big container of that. I ended up ordering a little more 1708. I did 2 layers on the deck. 3 in some areas. Luckily amazon ships stuff pretty qiuck to me. When I got low I ordered more and had plenty of time. Good luck with the project!

I think that gas tank going to rub a hole in it, that's why you want an inch all away around that wood going to swell and rub a hole soon and the smell of gas in a boat and I would have use teak wood. Good luck, stick too metal detecting.
Foam helps with floatation?? Can I explain the thought behind that? How foam inside the boat will help with floatation?
