  • This video shows how I repaired a rotten boat floor for less than $200. All too often a boat with a soft floor is junked when it could have its life extended by decades. This repair takes a single day and will be as solid as the day it rolled off of the factory line. One of my earliest youtube videos was of a similar boat repair but now I have a better camera and have refined the process.

Awesome job. I have a 1994 225 scr Monterey open bow with the same issue with the soft spot. I’m going to go for it.

I have the 205 SCR cuddy, just started this, still need fiberglass as if we keep wood as is will go back to the same issue, needs better isolation.

So you drilled right into the top of the stringers? Did you put anything into the drill holes?

what are your thoughts on just putting the 3/4 plywood all the way to the back? I have another soft spot over the gas tank. it's not terrible, i'm 300 pounds and i can walk on it but it definitely flexes and the carpet and gel coat on top are rubbed away exposing the old wood.

yes... that should work fine. just make sure you don't screw into the tank or you will have a whole other problem on your hands.

I would replace it all while you're there.

Solid floor never is never the sign of a solid boat. They rot from the bottom up…. I bought a 1988 regal medallion for its engine. The original floor is actually solid. I thought it might make the lake once or twice. I started it and noticed the engine was dancing. Front motor mount gone. Rear stringers gone. Deck overs are dangerous… also why I play with tin boats only unless it’s with a saw all and a dump trailer
