The Moonscaper sucks as an actual weapon, but I like using it as a way of rocket jumping in the pre sequel. It sends you flying and when you have a low level one with a Logan's Gun and shoot the bullet's with it, its pretty awesome.
In a stream, Joltzdude139 used the jakobs sniper loop glitch to transfer the loop effect to the moonscaper, shot an entire mag on the ground, fired the logans gun, and went from vorago solitude to the vault hole visuals in the background
Yeah, with Derch on this one, Striker needs a Jakobs grip, the only thing a Hyperion grip really does is boost accuracy and tighten pellet spread, something the Striker doesn't need because it already has a tight pellet spread compared to other Jakobs shotguns to go with the higher base critical boost. You can get through TVHM and even a good chunk of UVHM with a Striker reliably, that isn't something that goes on a 10 Worst list.

Ok so something I never understood about these videos. His borderlands 1 Gameplay videos. Why does he only play as Lilith? Why doesn’t he use shotguns on the character that has actual boosts to pure shotgun damage, accuracy and recoil? And when he was covering the jack-o-cannon, what is the point of having the practicable prefix, if you can’t even get additional pellets? Not to mention that he wasn’t playing as claptrap who has boosts to his explosive damage too. AND on top of that, he had a Jakob’s grip on a Hyperion weapon. I will agree that the Retcher is probably the worst Shotgun in the series, as it’s not really that great. But if you’re going to show off something bad, at least show how bad it is under the BEST possible conditions for the weapon.
Austin Parker it’s really not hard at all to beat bl1. You could beat it in about 6 hours if you tried hard enough. Plus he hasn’t even leveled his combat proficiencies with any guns, as shown by the level 23 shotgun proficiency in the part with the jackal.
Mordy can also be a good shotgunner, especially with the Ranger COM and a "Death" shotgun (especially one made by S&S or Hyperion). "Death" guns and "Intense" combat rifles are buffed by the Ranger COM for the whole team - that is, if the COM is built from material2 and has a listed crit bonus.

The striker is bad? I'm not sure how useful the foregrip is on it, I'd prefer the critical prefix, due to it having a natural crit bonus, due to it being a Jakobs gun, get a pretty impressive 72% critical hit bonus. And if you're not spamming shots, the recoil is pretty manageable. Lmao.
If you get the crit bonus it goes up to 130% extra crit, the striker has a natural +50% crit on top of the multiplicative boost that all jakobs shotguns have. The striker is definetly good if not very good, its just that puma is an idiot.

In the video Puma is using it with a Hyperion grip instead of a Jakobs and someone else stated that it loses 61% of it's DPS for 1%accuracy. It's accuracy has never been a problem. At mid range you'll be hitting crits with majority of the pellets. Long range is when it starts to drop off.

The first legendary I got was the striker. On my first play through on PS4 I got it at Frostburn Canyon during the hunting the Firehawk mission. I was a low level so I got a level 7 striker from a badass psycho. It may not be the best shotgun, but the striker will always have a special place in my heart.🙂
The Striker is a perfect CQC and middle range weapon for Zero with a Critical Hit-build. This thing saved my sorry ass a multiple time in CQC during TVHM and UVHM because of its critical hit-bonus, its Jakobs critical hit-bonus and its accuracy. Add Zero’s crit-amplifying skills into all of it and you’ll get a great shotgun. Maybe it can’t reach the strength of the Conference Call and the ammo regeneration ability of the Pearlescent Butcher, but its definitely not a terrible gun. It’s a gun for people who are great in landing headshots / crit-shots constantly and not for pray ‘n’ spray players who just use every firearm as a bullet hose. In short: it’s a skill weapon. And as such its rewards players who are skilled enough to land headshots/ crit-shots constantly (+ it has a cool weapon skin.) You should give it another try, Puma and maybe you can see its potential.
This might be because I'm running the community patch, but I've actually found some decent Bandit splatguns that fired multiple projectiles. And, strangely, single projectile ones are still present, at least they seem to be able to crit now.
Ethan hornbeck Krieg is more of a fire and explosive type character. It does kinda work in the form of a sniper because he does have that perk that takes away sniper damage.
i saw striker on thumbnail and rushed in enraged, thankfully no pants army has taken care of this BS to clarify striker is quite a murder machine with vertical grip or crit prefix with matching grip and jacobs relic you can get 6+shots depending on characters, it is basically different version of maggie. It is literally impossible to not like it unless you have bad parts and accessory on it, in which case it will lack stopping power as it is low pallet count shotgun and non elemental dmg can not be boosted. SO yes it requires a special setup to be good but if you set it up it does excel

good point, however i never understood one thing. why do you need molmf why don't you run the area yourself? granted if you are on console and have no gibbed you are out of options. but i test my guns in many variants and on different maps. just a washbourn run does no justice to a gun's status for me.

But now im on a new different console with much less characters, so it would require sooo much grinding at this point. In TPS you can get a Striker with a capacity of 7 by getting the right grip and playing Nisha, who can add 3 bullets to any weapon's mag size with a skill. This with the increased Jakobs crit damage bonus can make it perform really well on Nisha with Tombstone. Still, if you have the DLCs, just get a Flayer from EOS, it's on another level.
The Moonscaper does actually have a niche use that's comparable to the Badaboom being used for Rocket jumps. If you fire it at your feet in low gravity zones it can launch you over extreme distances. Ideally you also wanna have a Logans gun for this which you can use to blow up all of the little grenades at the same time.
The reason the landscaper and moonscraper have the high accuracy is because the individual pellets all land in the same spot as the previous pellets, it doesn't register the distance between the pellets as the accuracy stat

I think the Landscaper could've been more practicle, if the projectile pattern was more simioar to the Blockhead, with sort of two straight, horizontal rows of projectiles, rather than have four projectiles that essentially move away from the crosshairs.

The striker I feel doesn't belong on the list. I had a good time with the striker because I got a variant that could shoot four times. I was able to down some badass enemies with four headshots. Plus, the hip fire is pretty good for a shotgun

When the jackal shotgun from bl1 takes like 20 grenades to try and accurately kill enemies at point blank range you know how terrible it is as it might as well be one of the worst guns in bl1 (behind the eridian mega cannon which is about as worthless as the min min lighter as both take too long to actually kill anything as eridian guns have to charge up which is why they got rid of them in bl2 and the min min lighter fires a slow moving orb that zaps enemies and takes like 2 seconds to fire)
Puma try using the explosive weapons with Fr4gTrap because he increases explosive damage immensely, there are other characters besides the doppelganger and nisha.
The butcher is dumb yes but think about a 120% increase to mag size with Roland’s ability as well as a class mod makes the butch pretty fun to use. Try it out for yourself it’s just amazing also the bulldog with this increase is also amazing and actually insane.
The best shotgun in the entire Borderlands series is the S&S Spiked Death from BL1, especially if it's built entirely from type-5 parts (and material3 so it holds an extra round) and has plain ol' basic ir0n sights. No structurally superfluous optical attachment. Just plain rifle sights on barrel5. I'll fight anyone who says shotguns should have scopes on them. 4:08 Since when do shotguns use bullets? 4:59 They don't need to be able to crit since they rely on splash damage and their limited range is acceptable since they're indirect-fire weapons (basically similar to grenade launchers). 6:04 Why does Blake refer to it as a "wave rifle" if it's a shotgun? Oh, and it was made by Dahl in BL1. 11:11 Why does everything need to crit? The splatguns from bl2 are actually fkn amazing, no idea what youre talking about, in my experience slag variants slag the enemy more than double the percentage it actually shows (because of the splash effect I assume) to the point I actually at some point believed its a guaranteed slag on hit.. especially in relatively small rooms, the hyperion versions are incredible because the projectile just kinda jumps around for a while, so its hard to miss something. Ok maybe the hyperion slag variant is the only decent one.. But I love it!
I actually find generic Tediore Shotguns to be worse than generic Bandit/Scav ones due to the awkward reload toss. I find myself getting hurt by reloading a generic Tediore Shotgun more than my enemies. I also find generic Bandit Shotguns to be rather decent on Krieg (due to increasing Mag Size through Bloodlust), Sal (due to his chance to not consume ammo), and Gaige (due to Close Enough) and Scav Shotguns to be decent on Clappy (due to a number of skill synergies during VaultHunter.exe).
Kraleck Generic Tediore shotguns also tend to have crappy reload damage, poor pellet count and per-pellet damage. Tediore Shotguns don’t even really become usable at least until blue rarity, and that’s just on TVHM. That’s sad!
Of course you'd include the Retcher shotgun VPG, I thought before seeing the end of the video and commenting, I thought that he's going to add the fucking retcher, just watch, not to mention it was pretty high on other worst weapons lists as well. In other words, fucking called it!
To be honest, the striker isnt that all bad if your gaige, simply because you can use the skill "Smaller Lighter Faster" to decrease the magazine size to quickly reload and gain 1 stack of anarchy, and you can even gain more Anarchy if you stack up on Typecast Iconoclast (has a chance to give you an additional stack of anarchy). Then try to grind Anarchy by heading to Eridium Blight and shooting and reloading the glitched ammo box next to the vending machine. Joltzdude139 uses this method which is pretty neat.
It was a world drop any legendary can drop anywhere except other bosses of course unless it's in there loot pool but other than that it can drop anywhere
I honestly think the hydra and striker are pretty good shotguns you just have to get close and spam the fire button and with perks from sally boi and kreig can make them good to spam i wouldve replaced the striker or hydra with the octo because its a TEDIORE. And its projectile pattern is difficult to master also its got a slow fire rate

Tragically though when anyone disproves puma he doesn't even admit to his mistake and instead dismisses them in favour of misinformation, thankfully though the great MOLMF has returned and is still doing the "does it suck" series

good point, however i never understood one thing. why do you need molmf why don't you run the area yourself? granted if you are on console and have no gibbed you are out of options. but i test my guns in many variants and on different maps. just a washbourn run does no justice to a gun's status for me.

But now im on a new different console with much less characters, so it would require sooo much grinding at this point. Also now that the PC version is coming out with so much amazing user-made updates that aren't on console, I find myself watching him a lot more
In TPS you can get a Striker with a capacity of 7 by getting the right grip and playing Nisha, who can add 3 bullets to any weapon's mag size with a skill. This with the increased Jakobs crit damage bonus can make it perform really well on Nisha with Tombstone.
Still, if you have the DLCs, just get a Flayer from EOS, it's on another level.

The Striker can be very powerful on Krieg, because of his skills that increases mag size, but certainly not the best.
The Moonscaper does actually have a niche use that's comparable to the Badaboom being used for Rocket jumps. If you fire it at your feet in low gravity zones it can launch you over extreme distances. Ideally you also wanna have a Logans gun for this which you can use to blow up all of the little grenades at the same time.

The reason the landscaper and moonscraper have the high accuracy is because the individual pellets all land in the same spot as the previous pellets, it doesn't register the distance between the pellets as the accuracy stat
The reason the conference call is not in TPS is because it didn't exist back then.

I think the Landscaper could've been more practicle, if the projectile pattern was more simioar to the Blockhead, with sort of two straight, horizontal rows of projectiles, rather than have four projectiles that essentially move away from the crosshairs.

I was going as Wilhelm the enforcer at the time when I got it.
The striker I feel doesn't belong on the list. I had a good time with the striker because I got a variant that could shoot four times. I was able to down some badass enemies with four headshots. Plus, the hip fire is pretty good for a shotgun

Ill have to disagree with u on the striker one of the best weapons to have while in fight for your life the amount of damage it does is insane which is why it has a small magazine size one of my most favorite legendaries in my opinion
Dosaze _12 He has a hyperion grip and stock on a jakobs weapon, The jakobs grip and stock gives it a mag size of 4 and increases the damage, I only watch pumas videos to correct him at this point
Adam Hill the stock doesnt actually add any extra stats and the jakobs stock is largely considered the worst for recoil.
When the jackal shotgun from bl1 takes like 20 grenades to try and accurately kill enemies at point blank range you know how terrible it is as it might as well be one of the worst guns in bl1 (behind the eridian mega cannon which is about as worthless as the min min lighter as both take too long to actually kill anything as eridian guns have to charge up which is why they got rid of them in bl2 and the min min lighter fires a slow moving orb that zaps enemies and takes like 2 seconds to fire)

Bruh, don't sleep on the striker. A good 4 shot rustler's on Zer0 is fantastic in normal and tvhm.
The butcher is dumb yes but think about a 120% increase to mag size with Roland’s ability as well as a class mod makes the butch pretty fun to use. Try it out for yourself it’s just amazing also the bulldog with this increase is also amazing and actually insane.

The best shotgun in the entire Borderlands series is the S&S Spiked Death from BL1, especially if it's built entirely from type-5 parts (and material3 so it holds an extra round) and has plain ol' basic ir0n sights. No structurally superfluous optical attachment. Just plain rifle sights on barrel5. I'll fight anyone who says shotguns should have scopes on them.

The splatguns from bl2 are actually fkn amazing, no idea what youre talking about, in my experience slag variants slag the enemy more than double the percentage it actually shows (because of the splash effect I assume) to the point I actually at some point believed its a guaranteed slag on hit.. especially in relatively small rooms, the hyperion versions are incredible because the projectile just kinda jumps around for a while, so its hard to miss something.
Ok maybe the hyperion slag variant is the only decent one.. But I love it!
Or just use a magic missle or grog

I actually find generic Tediore Shotguns to be worse than generic Bandit/Scav ones due to the awkward reload toss. I find myself getting hurt by reloading a generic Tediore Shotgun more than my enemies. I also find generic Bandit Shotguns to be rather decent on Krieg (due to increasing Mag Size through Bloodlust), Sal (due to his chance to not consume ammo), and Gaige (due to Close Enough) and Scav Shotguns to be decent on Clappy (due to a number of skill synergies during VaultHunter.exe).
Kraleck Generic Tediore shotguns also tend to have crappy reload damage, poor pellet count and per-pellet damage. Tediore Shotguns don’t even really become usable at least until blue rarity, and that’s just on TVHM. That’s sad!
What about moonscaper jumping in TPS? That shit is a huuuge time saver. Makes the gun worth it alone
Hydra is one of my favorite shotguns to use with Zero, but I can see you're point with using it with other characters
Hydra on Gaige because your not gonna have accuracy anyways but get high projectile count

They should make the hydra a hyperion shotgun that way the spread could get tighter as you fired
Of course you'd include the Retcher shotgun VPG, I thought before seeing the end of the video and commenting, I thought that he's going to add the fucking retcher, just watch, not to mention it was pretty high on other worst weapons lists as well. In other words, fucking called it!
To be honest, the striker isnt that all bad if your gaige, simply because you can use the skill "Smaller Lighter Faster" to decrease the magazine size to quickly reload and gain 1 stack of anarchy, and you can even gain more Anarchy if you stack up on Typecast Iconoclast (has a chance to give you an additional stack of anarchy). Then try to grind Anarchy by heading to Eridium Blight and shooting and reloading the glitched ammo box next to the vending machine. Joltzdude139 uses this method which is pretty neat.
About the striker... it CAN drop from varkid pile things from tundra express, this has happened to me once
It was a world drop any legendary can drop anywhere except other bosses of course unless it's in there loot pool but other than that it can drop anywhere

I honestly think the hydra and striker are pretty good shotguns you just have to get close and spam the fire button and with perks from sally boi and kreig can make them good to spam i wouldve replaced the striker or hydra with the octo because its a TEDIORE. And its projectile pattern is difficult to master also its got a slow fire rate

hydra? this thing in bl2 is overpowered on sal if you're doing a deputy build with a good/evil monk or raider com with +6 moneyshot with a grog and ladyfist your pretty much op
