Hey guys, New Borderlands countdown and today I wanted to go over 10 of what I think are some of the Worst Red Text Guns and Weapons to Farm in Borderlands 2! As always, let me know what some of your worst Red Text Guns and Weapons are!

Pot O' Gold fix:
Keep the stats and drop rate the same, but have it drop a chunk of Eridium instead of a wad of money.
make it have a small chance to drop a crazy amount of money or eridium and wads come flying from it like in the slot machines
Paulunatr how about in ultimate vault hunter mode, let it drop seraph crystals

That would remove the point of farming raid bosses
ooooor maybe make it so it instead doesnt give shields but boost HP and every time you take damage it has a chance to drop a lot of money.
Or OR it gives you like 15%-20% damage resistance and that damage resisted will be turned into money that drops.
I love how most of the guns on this list he’s talking bad about and he’s melting everything with them 😂
Grognozzle
batz10 most viable builds in end game require grognozzle or at the least the ruby. So it’s still working like the rest of the builds

pot of gold fix: when you pick up money you regenerate shields, aka make it use money as booster packs
Slightly late but... I like that idea, as you'd then be compelled to run over loot stacks to feed shields more quickly, or open loot crates but leave them untouched when going up against something tougher should they be needed - you're "buying" boosters.
A combination of the two could also work: varying chances of drops (see @bismoose5444's suggestion, higher up) and picking up dropped cash gives an immediate shield boost without having to wait for the recharge delay. Of course, this means dropping Euridium gives no boost, and players can choose between gradual advancements to keep the shield topped up, or ducking to cover and leaving the loot there for reserve boosters if needed later.

I like the Gwen's Head, I just hate trying to farm all the different versions

IMO The elephant gun should be a 1 shot kill gun, like the damage should be 5 times what it is even with the drawbacks it should just be an insta kill on a crit except badass enemies
Not Hitler I agree I always thought it was super underwhelming gun in BL1 it was a throw-away gun in my opinion

Especially true because if you look at a real elephant gun they use massive bullets, the one in game should be able to easily chunk health away from even the strongest enemies on crit. I dont think it needs a scope or better iron sights because then you actually have to aim to kill things fast.
I don't like the lightning bolt, but damn is it awesome hearing Krieg shout "LIGHTNING BOLT!" when he uses it

They should've made Rex and the Unforgivin mashers
unforgiven is better only cos it has a higher firerate, extra crit boost and damage then a rex of the same level. that and at least the Unforgiven tells you it doesnt fire as fast as you pull the trigger

Shade Flare Teh Shadow Neko masher barrels are basically shotgun barrels on pistols. they were in bl1 and they were very good. the closest thing to a masher barrel in bl2 was the Maggie
Theres a mod on GitHub that replaces dual pellet pistols into mashers
The Rex should have the same fire rate 13.0 or so. and higher base damage so it would be better than a normal Non-Unique Jakobs pistol.

A fix to the pot’o’gold could very well be whenever your shields finish recharging they’d guarantee dropped cash equal to exactly how much shields you lost up to the shield capacity.
I actually quite like the standard lightning bolt mod.
It's not inherently awful, but once you got a Chain Lightning, Lightning Bolt is bad in comparison

I have a scopeless 50 stinkpot and it carried me well into UVHM because of it's awesome base damage, it's great for put down easy to hit medium range damage down. But the lack of crit really makes it weak quickly.
I was greatly surprised that you didn't include Moxxi's crit. I heard losing your weapon while fighting is sub-optimal.

I have a bladed lv47 grog nozzle on ps4 cant recall my psn as I'm away from home but when I get back I could dupe it for you

The Gwen's Head is one of my favorites in the game, especially before you get the Lady Fist. That critical hit bonus really makes the weapon, it gives you room to dish out a ton of damage to enemies with large critical hit spots like bosses and loaders
I always loved the anarchy SMGs in BL1 the steel anarchy was awesome!
-62 bullets per mag
-4 shots fired every time
it was just a death machine at shorter ranges and I used a level 25 one all the way up to 38-40 because is was just that good it has been a long time but I remember it being amazing
Speaking of Rex and Elephant gun I've noticed that they are really good mid-range no scope shoots like felt way more accurate without aiming them than when actually aiming so even if they're meant to powerful be single shots they might be really good when your character can dish a lot of damage in melee while complementing melee with some no scope shots from these
Gwens Head is one of my favorites for the early game.
I agree with all this it'd be really nice to see a community patch for the Com SMG it's such a beautiful weapon!! I think if they uped critical dam and accuracy to at least better then a regular purple hyperion SMG with the same parts! I also think if they up the element damage for it as well would be amazing or maybe make it shoot lighting bolts! like the pistol from the pre sequel
The Rex maybe impractical AF to use, but boy do I find it satisfying seeing big numbers float away after scoring a headshot. Very. Satisfying.

If you are playing as Zer0 and have the accelarete skill and you fire the unkempt harrold the projectiles form a line very quickly making it less affective unless you're close to the target, but in some cases like fighting bunker its not that bad since the bunker is big a close to you
I love how all the weapons on this list you're not doing half bad with but "they suck"

Who remembers the Whitting's Elephant Gun from the first game? That Elephant gun was better, accuracy, damage, and maybe fire rate.
The Lightning Bolt is somewhat better if you have invested in Salvador's "Double Your Fun" skill.

I heartily disagree with the Hydra pick. Absolutely amazing on shotgun Zero, and puts in the work on loaders.
There is no such build, your probably doing so on normal mode, which a white shotgun is pretty good in.

From what I see in this video, the lightning bolt looks like a fastball re-skin but only in shock. Both need to be accurate, but you said it was a flaw for the lightning bolt. Also, the fastball was #1 on you video about the best grenades.
The difference is the fastball has way greater damage, and a tiny bit of splashing damage and a bigger hitbox, I agree it's under rated and she used more
I actually did get the Stinkpot in my first play-through and at the time, I was excited since the only weapons I had that did over 1500 damage were a Legendary Handgun with the red text "Monty's wife takes no guff" and the Pele Sniper rifle. Man was I disappointed in how... inaccurate it was for a Jakobs assault rifle. May as well have been a Torgue, no wait-- scratch that, I had a Torgue assault rifle that had better pin point accuracy that the Stinkpot from the Gold Chest in Sanctuary.

No not at all the more bullets there are the more death and the more death the less enemies that are left to deal with only ur path of ruin and chaos is what's left that's what counts

The corrosive Gwen's head was very helpful to me for like 12 levels with Maya

The Commerce does its job taking out shields like the Cyber Eagle so it's more like an effect weapon like the Slagga. The Gwen's Head is one of my main guns on UVHM because you can get it at will along with the Lasaux and is also just as effective. If you find a corrosive version, you can combat buzzards and most bots easily with it. I agree with everything else though.
THE FUNNNY PART IS THAT THERE MOSTLY ALL FROM THE HAMMER LOCK DLC AND BRO PUMA PLEASE RETURN
I think i remember heard you can farm the pot of gold in the weeding day dlc from a leprechaun(i hope wrote it well)near Hodunks houses.
Even with as bad as some of these weapons are most of them are still fun to challenge yourself and/or screw around.
When he was talking about the stinkpot, I didn’t think that it was rare because I got it the first time I killed no beard in normal mode, I figured that it was a guaranteed drop every time because after that every play through I did I got a stinkpot
Hydra seems good for mechromancer from what you describe. High anarchy with 20-22 projectiles bouncing everywhere sounds fun.
The lighting bolt looks cool when you throw it
I actually really like gwen's head, since it will mostly beat any gun you have by the time you reach the dust in normal mod. Same for the commerce, they are supposed to be nice starting weapons (in my opinion)
The Rex is less of a pistol and more of a weak sniper with more ammo in concept- high damage, low fire rate- but has the chance to spawn WITHOUT A SCOPE

The Gwen's head is a solid pistol for playthrough one, especially since the dust levels up to the current story mission level. It makes it a reliable level appropriate weapon for the first playthough.

Lighting Bolt is funny to use though it and the Snowball one was funny. Krieg says Lighting-bolt while using it.
Yea they all say something when using it. They all also say some when using the magic missile, and the fireball. You have to be in one of the tina dlc areas though.
The cobra Reminds me of the old borderlands 1 explosive sniper rifles.
for the rex, I feel a 5-10x damage buff would make it more viable without being broken on OP8. might be broken for lower levels though haha. it can keep the low fire rate, just buff the fucc out of damage. I may have to give it a go sometime with the new community patch and see if I can write in some code for the rex's damage.

I got the cobra a couple days by pure luck. I was doing the torgue campaign and it was the first time going in the arena. After I killed all the burners, I looked around for Eridium and I got more than what I bargained for

max volostnov technically I would say that it isn't a "farmable" weapon unless you finish the quest and turn it in multiple times for the right parts
Its a Quest reward, not farmable from a boss.

How to fix

2. Doesn't slow you down
3. EVERYTHING ELSE
Lightning Bolt has the highest dot damage (more than chain lightning) compare to any weapon ,that's also one of its advantage if you want to play dot build .
Use fastball instead...

I actually obtained the Stinkpot on the first try when I killed No-Beard, out of sheer luck.
I heard they boosted the drop rate on the Cobra and tried to farm for it for the first time. got it on my 5th run. I foolishly thought it was common after my luck and farmed for another one. farmed for 3 hours and didn't get another one.
Gwen's head has 5 fixed spawn points and it always spawns when you quit and return. The first is in Ellie's garage next to the door, second is next to the ramp like rock a little away from the garage, third is in the buzzards nest in the low hanging hut, fourth is next to one of the poles in the buried village and the final is on the station to lynchwood. All of these can be easily run through in few minutes. I don't really see how it would be pain to farm.
with the pot of gold another way to fix it is instead of a chance to get cash it always gives cash on damage just a small amount so you are building up nickle and dime but if you are getting clip of smg in the face and get paid per hit it builds up fast.

There's another gun you can find in the pre-sequel called "Gwen's other head" and it's red text says "Gwen is a very strange girl". I found it on a badass tork

Im gonna do a all borderlands run. Im playing all the borderlands in order. Im playing borderlands 1 all the way up to 3 with all dlcs and pre sequel included. So BL1,BL2,PRE SEQUEL, then BL3. Its gonna be a long fun adventure.

I only farm for cobra to be able to say: " I GOT THE F*CKING COBRA B!TCHES" that is my only reason to farm Some Guns

I know it won't happen but what if they made a gun in bl3 related to the Wizards. like a shotgun that shoots multiple lightning bolts per shell with the chain lightning effect,or maybe the firestorm but a gun. red text could be along the lines- "they're power is still feared" referencing the Seraphs/etc... Different but would be a neat call back to dragon keep since it seems to be 1 of the most played/remembered dlc's from bl2.
Honestly, the Hydra is bearable on Gaige but its wide projectile pattern still gets in the way as many areas have LOTS of cover to block shots. If they clustered the groups like a star, it would greatly improve the gun. After all, the hydra doesn't get depicted as having all of its heads side by side. Some are above others while it is fighting.
pot o gold is funny. that thing drops like $12 when im in UVHM. thank god for the community patch, i will wear the pot o gold over healthier shields when im doing stuff like tubby farming because the extra eridium is a nice little bonus. it's exactly what the shield needed.

The Commerce is good early-ish game for destroying shields, and I kinda like it.
I also liked Elephant Gun... after killing Skagzilla in the original Borderlands.
I don't know how the Rex made, I know how it was made but I don't know why. Revolvers in Borderlands 1 with like 7 time the damage of a reapeter and were basically hand cannons.
the whole point of scopless sniper rifles is boosting the crap out of damage per shot which makes them fun to use at lower levels

I think the best way to improve the lightning bolt is to give it a bit of homing so it at least hits something

For the rex, i think about giving it a x2 projectile multiplayer, higer base and crit stats, plus +200~400% crit damage.
And keep its slow rate of fire obviously

With the Pot o' Gold, if they made it so the amount dropped was a lot (say, equivalent to selling a purple or rarer rifle at the level of the shield), and perhaps a unique art asset (Like, well, a pot of gold?), that would be better. Isn't the amount it drops pretty much hard coded into the shield and it doesn't scale to level? I think it was something absurdly low, like maybe not even in the double digits. A chance to drop Eridium as well would have made it more useful.
I think for the pot of gold they should keep the stats the same but add "jack pot" feature. "Very small chance of dropping large amount of cash after taking damage" You could make it be something low like 1 an 5-700 cash drops, and it drops you like $10-$30k.
well puma I would say ones that should be on this list should be the commerce and the judge that drop from two assassin but I forgot which ones
The lightning bolt and fireball were both created as jokes about magic in fantasy games. Those are common spells and it regenerates ammo because its supposed to act like your mana or magika.
