  • Installing K&N Air Filter in my Interceptor 650
    This is fairly easy installation process and should take you 5-7 mins max.
    The only tool you would need is one 4 mm Allen wrench and a Philips screwdriver that comes with the stock tool kit.
    This K&N performance air filter is made to give your Royal Enfield more power and torque. These also come with a K&N million mile limited warranty. They are of excellent quality and are made to last longer than your Royal Enfield! I've read that K&N air filters for Royal Enfield models last up to 50,000 miles before cleaning is required. But this is subjective and depends on your driving conditions and style.
    You can get this online and it should reach you in 2-3 business days. (check the link below).

I feel the throttle response has become sharper I did feel a tiny bit of torque gain (Since it breathes freely I guess). That Bassy intake sound though! 💙💙💙 I wanna ask you, Did you feel the Engine warms up quicker than before? I generally feel the heat in stop and go traffic or in longer journeys. Hey. I hope you are doing well.
    I recently installed the Way2Speed air filter considering the highest advertised air flow and no oiling needed.
    Although after ~3k kms, while cleaning I decided to have a look inside the air chamber and there was a lot of dust present. I was shocked and now looking to throw away the w2s one.
    How about the K&N. Do you see any dust if at all inside the air chamber ?
    About the stock cap for the filter, I think it is designed to block water going inside the chamber, also those two holes are wide enough to let equal amount of air to go in when comparing to a open bracket.

    • @SrinivasGanesh
      @SrinivasGanesh  Před rokem

      The air filter will get dirty. That is normal. Don't throw the way2speed one away. Instead, just wash it, and clean the area where the air filter goes in. And then simply reuse it. I do the same with K&N air filter. It is bound to get dirty since that is a filter. it blocks the dust from going in the engine, that is why it gets dirty.

    • @SrinivasGanesh
      @SrinivasGanesh  Před 2 lety

      There were no issues buddy. You can change them. If you want to change the intake cover as well then, Also there is no loss of power. But the logic says that, when your bike breathes in more, then it needs to let out the gasses in the same manner. Hence when people change the airfilter, the airfilter plate, they also change the exhausts. :) hope that helps.
      But I never faced any issues with the changed airfilter on my stock exhausts.

    Tried it and found out it completely destroys the bikes performance and grown-up sound. The touch on the throttle is more aggressive, yes. But after 3000rpm there’s a complete loss of torque if you don’t rev the throttle to the maximum all the time when going through gears and even then the peak performance is lowered. With the original setup I was doing 170 kph frequently. With the filter it is struggling to get to 160!!! The Induction “roar” is also aggressive, but after a few rides so unbelievably annoying to you and everybody around you (riding through a town - you feel like 18 in a Honda Civic) and just pointless, since you are loosing power. I ride with a booster plug(which DOES make for a smoother ride) btw - but tried it with and without it. The open filter is definitely the weak link. If you are not using a power commander, new pipes, big bore kit.... THERE IS NO POINT IN INSTALLING THIS FILTER AND RAPING YOUR MACHINE WITH IT. Back to the original it’s such a smooth and strong ride again.
