  • Installing custom Air Filter plate in my Interceptor 650
    This is a fairly easy installation process and should take you 5 mins max.
    What this metal plate does is maximise the air intake. Naturally if more air goes in, your motorcycle will breathe more and perform better.
    It is also zinc plated and powder coated to avoid any rusting. And is compatible with both RE 650 models.
    There a lot of companies that make this plate, but you can get this one online and it should reach you in 2-3 business days. (check the link below).

    I love the editing of your videos, I have no idea what you just did to your motorcycle. The air filter plate will have to wait until I get a bike first. Keep posting!

    I think the RE would have some good reasons to not give stage 2 plate and control the air flow to some extent. If keeping air filter hole all open would have best then why RE did not provide it in stock setup? by the way I have tried it the stage 2 plate with moto wings air filter and did not see any noticeable difference in pickup or top speed of the bike.

    • @SrinivasGanesh
      @SrinivasGanesh  Před rokem +1

      Just swapping the air filter doesn’t give any performance boost. You will have to change the exhausts as well. If you change the intake to be better, then logically, you have to change the exhaust as well. And then install a booster plug for that cherry on cake. :)

    Hey Sri, quick question for you.
    The thing I don't see anybody talk about is the risk of water getting into the filter/engine after removing the stock filter cover. I only commute 10km to and from work but there are many times I'm commuting in the rain and don't want to risk any engine damage. Do you have any insight on my concern?

    • @SrinivasGanesh
      @SrinivasGanesh  Před 5 měsíci

      Hey, there is noway the water will not go in due to rain. I have been using it since 4 years now and have not yet faced any issue. The air box is placed quite high, and the chances of water going in the air filter is negligible. Unless the bike is completely submerged in water which is highly unlikely.

    Don't try all this, it will lean out the mixture (too much air) which will cause your engine to overheat as the stock ECU will not be able to compensate the extreme variation in air intake. It will have 0% performance gain. You need to custom remap your ECU using something like Power Commander 5 and Dyno tune it in order to get any real results. Also you can enjoy the extra dust and mud getting into the air filter.

    • @SrinivasGanesh
      @SrinivasGanesh  Před 3 lety +3

      Thank you so much for your honest feedback, I'll try getting a power commander 5 and aftermarket exhausts. That ought to prevent the bike from over heating. If not, then I'll go back to the stock airfilter and the air filter plate. Thank you for watching the video as well!! 🙌🏽 Much love from New Delhi!

    It’s more than a year since you uploaded this video. What’s your POV with respect to having an air filter without a booster plug and stock exhausts?
    How does it affect the mileage?

    • @SrinivasGanesh
      @SrinivasGanesh  Před 2 lety

      Thank you for watching the video. It doesn't affect mileage. maybe 0.1%. I haven't seen much of a difference. The booster plug, in common man's terms, tricks the ECU into thinking it is intaking cold and dense air. The air filter, is just like our nose, (sort of) which filters out particles which, in combination results in better combustion and smoother power delivery.

    The DNA does nothing measurable for the bike. You are better off just installing the adapter with stock filter if you want a bit more air.
    You may want to test stock and DNA filter with adapter to see if you get any difference??

    • @SrinivasGanesh
      @SrinivasGanesh  Před 2 lety

      The DNA or in my case K&N, is only there because it is re useable. Wash it, re oil it and you’re good to go. With the stock ones. You gotta change the paper element entirely.
      Saves money in the long run. :)
