  • This is one of those prerequisites mods that you can do to your bike that will give hp & torque gains. Now this won’t make your bike any sports bike but will make the engine breathe a lot better and as proven more air injected into the cylinder with the correct fuel ratio leads to better pickup (torq). Thanks for watching, lmk if you have any questions or feedback!

    Good to know this info. Lots of Royal Enfields proliferating Chicagoland of late, but little useful information like this. They are great bikes, but do have a few issues like the sidestand which leans the bike over WAY too much.

      I totally agree Williams, specially the 650cc Royal Enfield models opened a whole new market place across the world rather only being known in India, where the brand originates from. Not sure if you noticed, but this is exactly why I installed the center stand on my GT. It keeps the bike stable, easier to work on during maintenance, and overall keeps the engine oil centered which is one of those crucial parts when starting the bike, the oil evenly travels to the valves. However, the engineering is compromised in certain areas but I believe this is bang for the buck, the package you get in the price range is not beatable. Do you own a GT or Interceptor?

    Excellent content. I enjoy tinkering with my interceptor, but not mechanically gifted so these vids really help me with my learning curve.

    I have also installed these on the RE’s that I have, it makes a world of difference!

      Yes it does!! Puts the bike more on the lean mixture end but cache is to let it idle for 10 mins so ECU can adapt to the new idle air pressure and take it on few rides of constant speed so ECU can adapt to the new air flow volume and temperature! Thanks for watching @abhigyan sinha!

    I believe you can use washers and bolts to hold the air filter in when going to an open air filter set up.

    Nice video, keep them coming.
    From what I heard, one of the main things that can be done on this bike to improve hp is upgrading the exhaust manifold and muffler. The s&s 2:1 qualifier is supposed to add 10hp or so.

    • @GrewalsGarage
      @GrewalsGarage  Před rokem +2

      Thanks for watching Matthew! Oh yess the outlet (exhaust) definitely helps the entire system breathe better. And S&S is a great option to save weight as both the headers combine into one muffler. Of course free flow system will produce more HPs but you will need to run with DB killers if you have a EURO 5 model as that will throw a code to ECU.
      I have a separate video on the entire exhaust setup, if you want to give that a watch. Thanks for subscribing man!

    Was interested in installing the tec stinger. We tried contacting tec usa but got no response. Thinking we had nothing to lose and being rather impatient, we drilled out the stock mufflers 15mm at both ends, more in the front. The weight is still there and zero performance gains but it sounds surprisingly good. No backfiring, has a nice 1960s bark, runs great. We're thinking of upgrading the air filter and leave the exhaust as is. Is there any chance of damaginging anything having altered the flow or has the ecu already given it 2 thumbs up?

      Hi Carol, thanks for watching!
      Tec USA usually work thru email, they probably wont answer any calls. I can tell it has the bark sound as by drilling the holes you made the muffler into a baffle. I have done similar tactic to my off road rig, where I don't run a muffler due to clearance going over rocks and all, it creates a bark noise. However, you wont see any HP gains because both the stock mufflers and headers pipes are restricted. Mufflers have the honey cone filter and routing tunnels. The headers have the welded catalytic convertors. Also, backfires wont appear due to those filters.
      Adding an highflow air filter and free flow exhaust wont damage anything. However, it will make the bike a little leaner mixture than how it comes from factory but that's why I recommend to let the bike idle when you install the air filter so ECU can adapt to the new air idle pressure secondly, take it on short constant speed rides that will allow the ECU to adapt to the new air volume and pressure so it can reset close to the factory setting.
      I would recommend the free flow exhaust setup how I can done here: czcams.com/video/sjtr2C-BgYI/video.html . It will make the bike lighter and will get you those HPs gains.
      Also, keep in mind when you purchasing the header pipes. If your bike is EURO4 or EURO5 as those have different ECUs.

      @@GrewalsGarage maybe they're swamped.. 3 email attempts. It's a 2020, not sure of Euro 4 or ? Agreed that stock is heavy and restrictive.. ideally we'd replace the whole system but sounds much better now. If it's fine it's fine! The stock exhaust is now a pleasant baffled bark and sounds great. Certainly don't want to run leaner, so we'll contine being happy hooligans. Thanks for your response, keep up the good work!

      EURO4 came 2019-2021 and EURO5 is mid 2021 but surprisingly have seen 2020 with EURO5 as well, so best is to look at the ECU underneath the seat. The yellow tag is EURO4 and pinkish is EURO5. Thanks for watching, enjoy your 650twin and ride safe!

    Better Throttle response, but you lose TQ in the mid and upper range.

    • @GrewalsGarage
      @GrewalsGarage  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Still way better than stock filter… only reason it loses in mid and upper range as more air is forced but not even fuel. So after tuning it, it will definitely make the best performance over stock.

      There are several aftermarket exhaust systems like S&S and Tec. Both strip about 25 lbs. off the weight of the bike.
