I had the honour to meet Stylian Petrov at a charity march at Corby Northamptonshire as soon as I shouted Celtic Petrov Alan Stubbs came straight over for photo's etc 💛💛 I did have a Celtic jersey on at the time they couldn't be any better 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛
That Celtic gave the club pride back. To a man what a team...my favourite era of life so far hh🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
That celtic team is the reason why a generation of twenty-somethings from Ireland love Celtic, the momentum when Martin O Neill took over as manager was unreal, Lennon, Sutton, Thompson are 3 players who were brilliant in the big games in particular the green and white wash season 💚💚
To be fair I think the majority of those kids were gonna be Celts regardless lol

Leeds fan here but I suppose Celtic my second team as I have family up north who are hoops mad , loved the team of early 2000s thanks for big viduka brilliant Leeds player 4 or 5 years , strange end just going of while petrov was speaking was wanting to hear about his time at villa also Sutton joined villa for 2 seasons .

Great interview . Those 3 guys gave everything for Celtic . Obviously Neil is the manager . Lovely to hear Stillian Petrov he's a Celtic legend also plus he overcame cancer . Great to hear these guys interacting with each other there's alot of respect there
I remember seeing Stan looking at video games in Glasgow late 90s
I met Stan the day he signed or day after.. On the steps in jjb store in the toon... Think the hoops were over in Israel for a European game... I said hi.. Think Stan was more surprised I noticed who he was.... Superb player and man... The other 2 guys weren't bad either Hail Hail 🍀🍀

That Martin O'Neill side was incredible really. As an outsider looking in, the only slightly weak link in the team was the GK position. The team was top class, but they didnt have the same quality between the sticks that they had up front, for example.
You're spot on, Celtic went toe to toe with Porto but the keeper let them down....and that Porto side went onto winning the CL the next seaon.....that Celtic side could have won the CL with just a few additions

@@SuperMandelson you are a rugby fan you don't have a clue. What English team done good in Europe this year ? For the budget they have. Man city , man utd and Liverpool all have spent more on one player than Celtic have spent in 4 years on their full teams. Can't really compare the SPL nd EPL also Scotland has 5 million people England has over 60million people which means better opportunity to produce more world class players. Getting promoted to the EPL teams get around 60million Celtic get 3 million for winning the league
@@paulgal You make a valid point about the financial power of the Premier League down south. However, the teams who knocked Celtic out of Champions League qualifying in the last three years are Ferencvaros, Cluj and AEK Athens - which of those teams are in the English Premier League?

Sutton gets way too much stick people see him as arrogant and cocky but it's just his style of humour he's the most sarcastic guy you'll ever meet. When he says he ran the dressing room he ain't wrong he was one of the main ones, used to terrorize youth team players for a laugh telling them stuff like when you're working in Mcdonalds next year remember and give my kids extra chips.. Some of the stories on Open Goal about him and the dressing room under Martin O'Neill are quality.

Let’s get it right stans face was tripping him when we won the league he wanted to leave and now all of a sudden he’s some sort of Saint am not having it am a season ticket holder for 25 years am not having it.
No credit for previous seasons?
He did sign a new contract a season or 2 before leaving and we got a decent fee for him. My face would be tripping me as well if I had to work under Gordon Strachan.
My fave Petrov moment was him scoring a penalty at the Copland Rd end. He celebrated right in front of us, and got a cup full of coke to the bonce for his trouble. Fair play to Petrov, when he got up after 'treatment', he put his hand up to the fans. Always respected him for that. Good player, but he's as 'Celtic' as he is 'Villa'. In other words, he doesn't give fig for either club. Nothing wrong with that. And Sutton is correct. O'Neil rescued him. He flopped badly at Chelsea. But to be fair, he'd done it at 2 clubs before that. He was good for Celtic as was Lennon. And Scottish football was decent at that time.

@@philsoro491 you have to ask yourself what planet these rangers fans are from? It is a club of cheats. That is not up for debate. When Sutton accused them of cheating they were cheating. They are a cautionary tale. it is important as Celtic fans to not lose sight of reality and Truth lest we become as bad as them.
Bet you wish you could trade in all the trophies from the cheating years so your club could've avoided liquidation? yer clubs deed mate, relaunched in 2012 as a new entity.. Always remember that!
