Capped off a great weekend. He had a laugh at the state of us but was so nice to sit and chat for a bit. A really class act and built the team of my generation. Brilliant interview Peter . Could listen to Martin all day . A legend and a gentleman . I was lucky enough to catch him at the Armadillo recently. Fantastic night so funny. Sad though that the 2 things that stay with him is Motherwell ( painful esp Scott McDonald scoring against us in a meaningless game for them!!) & Seville. Seville was an unforgettable adventure for all of us and we have him and the amazing team that he built to thank for it. Great to hear his stories and lovely to hear him speak about Neil Lennon in the correct well respected manner he deserves which elements of our fan base seem to have forgotten reality and are an absolute disgrace. They sound like supporters of the Govan side . Sweat blood and tears for your club and get treated so so disgustingly badly 😢
    Good to see life being a bit kinder to him HH and thank you both 🍀💚

    He’s spot on about the treatment of Neil Lennon.
    There is a certain level of entitlement that grows within a fanbase of Clubs who are successful and that only increases at Clubs who go on extended runs like we had under Lennon,Deila and Rodgers.
    This is increases further by the rise of Social Media where self appointed experts roll out their vision and expertise in Management whilst simultaneously destroying the Manager’s who’s being paid to do it by request of the Club.
    The vitriol towards Neil Lennon from within the Celtic fanbase in some cases has been ridiculous.
    These same Supporters still lament about the guy whom he HAD to replace due to him jumping ship mid Season.

    • @JoP444
      @JoP444 Před rokem

      You have basically quoted what I was going to say. They were singing Only One Neil Lennon a few months prior. I get into arguments about it all the time I kept saying to people U all thought he was Mr.Celtic when we were beating Lazio etc...we had a good run until Copenhagen 😭 An unprecedented quadruple treble!!! Worldwide! He came to our rescue in our time of need. Went to hell & back for this club ( death threats etc) Could not believe the way the fans turned. The pressure he was under was so unique and extreme and he has had his battles with depression so I can't imagine how much he must still be hurting. He is always a legend in my eyes and many many more. I hate how fickle fans are and people in general. If someone holds a place in my heart they never leave it. Social media is a very deadly weapon Well said Brown HH See you on the @TheBhoycieBus 🍀🚍🚌🚎💚

    What is it about Rangers fans having a deep respect for wee Martin. He was schooled by Clough ..that's a bloody good start. He did get animated along the touchline so his heart was right in it . He inherited a good few ..Larson , Moravcik class acts. He did add some quality filler ..together to give Advocat a run for the money .Pound for pound Agate springs to mind, but Hartson,Lennon, Sutton and Thompson were quality additions. Great run to Seville and in a parallel universe could have put Mourinho on the back foot . A legend for the dark side 😀👍

      Celtic put around £30m (£47.85m in todays marketplace) into Martins team ,Lawwell subsequently spent the next decade clawing that back with Operation Zero Debt.
      An approach that seen first Strachan then Mowbray,Lennon and Deila have budget slashed by comparison.
      Only the appointment of Rodgers did Celtic start upping their Budgets again as spending increased by over 54% during his tenure as boss (7.3% 2016 ,33.3% 2017,14.1% 2018)
      That’s how much Celtic had to spend to redress the reckless ( and underhand ) approach by Rangers under Murray.
      O’Neill had it good ,very good and of course delivered.
      It took a very good Porto side to defeat us in a major European Final.
      A side so good in fact they won the Big Cup under Jose the year after so we caught them on the up.
      I think O’Neills Celtic beats all the Celtic sides that have followed comfortably but that the current one under Postecoglou is perhaps going to be up there provided we invest in further quality this Summer.

      @Swindel67 Před 2 lety

      Pfft Lennon wouldn't have got half the shit he has if he had a bit of respect for the fans or the job in the first place.
      To this day he's not taken ONE speck of responsibility for the many failures of last season. It was Covid, circumstances outwith my control etc. The reluctance or even inability to self reflect and take ownership is an awful trait for a manager and befitting of someone who has a chronic drinking problem. Am I sympathetic towards that? Obviously but do I think someone who isn't fit for it should've been given the top job at a club like Celtic? Do I fuck.
      See the difference with Ange being in. Our captain McGregor was a shadow of himself last year... The team was a shambles, a generation of youth development - torpedoed.
      All because Lennon couldn't recognise the damage he was doing.
      The day he takes a shred of responsibility he'll gain a bit of respect back.

      How sad a great manager in his time and that's from a fan of the enemy ,to be treated like that ,in comparison to some of the dumplings you have had in charge .

    I’m afraid they’re both guilty of sticking up for their wee pal here . Lennon as player was fantastic , 1st time around as manager he done well , 2nd time around the football was turgid . He shouldn’t have been allowed anywhere near the job . The reason some fans have had things to say about him , is with regards to some of his comments about fans and his failure to accept any bit of the blame for losing the league . It’s wasn’t the fact we lost the league as that can happen , it was the manner in which it happened
