Most of us would watch a 40 minute video of paint drying if it has your comentary and humour, so more wiring is not a problem. You realy care about your work and it shows, and that's why we are watching!
Depends on the paint...
The shorts and exposed cute tummy are a plus.
I mean, we've kinda already did in this series...
@@dagoverstreet8865 admittedly I was first enticed by the looks, but I stayed for the passion for cars and the great quality of work.
100%
"Not the kind robots throw dollar bills at" - that's' priceless!
I heard that, too. I love her subtle comments every once in a while. The flooding basement one was my all-time favorite.
I agree. Love that little gem tossed in like no big deal
Almost spit my water out that I had just taken a sip of.
I've absolutely loved this whole series. Even all the wiring. You're kicking ass.
The only "wiring" I deal with is changing guitar strings... and I struggle with that, especially the narrower gauges.
Sarah, I have never seen any other “Car Person” take on such an extensive project. You have done all of this alone with your own skills. You have impressed all of us and certainly earned my respect with your work. Set backs and difficulty is part of the learning experience. You continue to get better and learn. Well done! 🥰
I like that you show setbacks and problem solving. It sucks, yet you move forward. Great stuff
Whose complaining about your wiring videos? At least you explain things. With all the crazy stuff happening in the world, we need your videos as an escape from the madness. No slack, no shortcuts and no quarter for your projects. Chickaboom, chickaboom don’t you just love it. Yeah buddy! Press on Sarah!
We need "link up above" compilation 😂😂😂
For the 10 year celebration. 😅🤣
👍👌👏 Definitely! 😁😁😁
It's just breathtakingling no BS. There are just a few creators filming in this style and also not many who takle such work. I think it's brilliant.
No one I watch does this type of work, Sarah shows the hard stuff and is not afraid to tackle it, I can barely watch Emelia anymore it’s all fluff
M539 check him out, also Fanatik rebuilds, and of course, project Binky.
Hello, lady who makes humorous, entertaining and detailed car build and review videos on the internet.
Sarahisms......." the reverse flow of potential".........belly buttons are not pencil sharpeners. I love Sarah's wisdom.
Indeed. Comparing design and installation of a wiring harness to placing an octopus into a fishnet stocking - tentacles first - would be an example. Most of us normies need to be dropping acid to come up with such esoteric and out-of-left-field "isms". Or... so I've heard....
@@zeus014every car girl I know is fuckin hilarious
I lol'd at resistance is futile.
@@robcreel4257 Right! Nice Star Trek TNG reference!
Sarah should write a book of all of her special sayings!
I’m an automotive electrical illiterate, so the fact I was able to follow (most) of your tutorials on the first pass is a huge credit to your professorial talents. 😉 It is also clear I’m going to fall down the rabbit hole and be purchasing much of your latest t-shirt collection. Professional level video production and editing can be your vocation if and when wrenching becomes more physically challenging. None of us escape Father Time. 😱 Thank you, Sarah. 👍👍👍
You are brilliant. No one else could do this job, let alone document it and make it compellingly entertaining.
OMG, I can not stress how much I love your videos! You know your shit!
Hey Sarah, love your videos. I'm in awe of you! I too am a USAF vet; served '84 to '88. My specialty was Electric Power Production (Generators) and Aircraft Arresting Barriers. This is where I learned electrical theory and wiring too. I got a kick out of your equations in this video; brought back tech school memories. What was your specialty? Anyway, you ROCK!!! Keep doing what you're doing!!
I Underestimate just about everything.. time and difficulty. But you always keep going until it's perfect😊
Ferrules for days! Strain relief, heat shrink, properly pinned connections. Amazing work. This is why I watch your channel. Best robot spaghetti ever.
Great explanation of the electrical theory. I failed my IT course 20 years ago because the electrical teacher was terrible. Now it makes sense LOL.
You are the best kind of knowledgeable maniac! You videos are a great way to start the day... Thanks!
Thank you for your hard work. You are loved and appreciated dear one.❤❤❤
A new Sarah-n-Tuned video? Resistance is futile indeed!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Sarah's videos are 'electrifying.'
FYI the underside of a turtle is called the Plastron.
Ahh yes, robot turtles.
Wiring is so much more complicated with modern computer controlled engines. Trying to connect different systems together and then backwards to the old wiring is even harder. One wire or even incorrect impedence can mess up the whole thing. You are organized and methodical and will get it done eventually. As a licensed electrician and an old (former) car stereo installer I'm impressed. You've got this!!
I really don't know why, but I like these wiring videos! It feels like you're worried about your content, but you make it work, don't stress!
this is going to be epic, Sarah. The sheer difference in horsepower and torque between the original engine, and this one? you're building a right monster-and you're doing the detail work on the wiring, so it's probably going to be a RELIABLE monster.
Please never loose the fun in yourself. That is a very important part of your content. 🎉
loose?
You may think you need to see a clinic regarding the wiring, but when we dream about wiring, it's because we look forward to your videos about it. Not only are you entertaining us, but you're sharing a journey while at the same time accomplishing something important to you. On top of that, you're sharing that with us. You don't need to SEE a clinic - you ARE a clinic! You're keeping us sane.
"Not the kind that robots throw dollar bills at", I laughed so haaaaaard!!!! Please don't get done with this car, I'm gonna miss the tinkering with it.
Thanks for uploading! Greetings from Sweden
See? Merch plugs aren’t all bad!
I love your videos. You're smart & witty. I've watched both wiring vids & feel confident enough to screw in a light bulb without supervision... 🤣
People really have no idea just how complex wiring an engine swap is. You're doing a great job, and always impressed with your build quality!
So nice to have access to electronic and printed copies of wiring diagrams!
Resistance is futile and there are four lights.
Absolutely love the new merch -- wore the Quattro shirt to the shop yesterday. Thanks again, Mrs. FC.
Most people don't show how to wire an engine swap like this, I'm so glad that you do. It's never easy and I'm glad you show this step in your insanity to make it as clean and perfect as possible. I can't wait till get the car driving again.
The fact that you're fabricobbling the entire harness is mind blowing.
I am providing this complimentary comment to simply show how much I appreciate your content Sara.
When I restored my '67 Alpine, I dreamed for months about the various tasks and the desired outcome. The best part was when it turned out exactly as I envisioned it in my dreams; ...no, better.
Time for my morning Cely-ca video from SNT Restomod Customs!
Your videos are to show how things should be done and not the quick and dirty to make people happy to see an end result style. People need yo know that these things take time to make them right and that the details are what make the product something to be proud of. Thank you for being you.
The reason we get so many bizarre, half-assed, rat's nest wiring jobs on even professional installs is that nobody takes the time to explain things like you are doing in these videos. I think it's great that you're not only showing how to use proper tools and techniques to get the job done, but also setting expectations that this stuff takes time.
Yes, “Resistance Is Futile”
Your thoroughness shows your dedication to your craft. You keep them flying due to your dedication, you kept them alive. We thank you for your service and see first hand why we truly enjoy watching you work. We are in awe.
Speaking as one of the non-electrical engineers, I really enjoyed those sections about electrical formulas. Please don't be afraid to keep those in the future, it was super interesting!
"Endeavour to persevere." - Chief Dan George (Outlaw Josie Wales) 🥰
As an aviation electrician/avionics tech I can appreciate the amount of time and attention to detail you're putting into the wiring as well as the whole project. Nicely done, this has been fascinating to watch
All of these wiring videos are quite enjoyable to watch what with your commentary and sense of humor.
As long as you're still dreaming, you're Ok. It's when you stop dreaming that you should be concerned.
Not being an electrical engineer i love you explaining it just enough to understand.
You are showing real issues and how you overcome them. Nearly everyone else buys a generic harness and throws an aftermarket switch panel in saying "look, it's now a racecar and cool". Love the attention to detail and determination to do things correctly instead of only needing to last one payoff video.
Another brilliant video by a Brilliant Human!! ❤️❤️
Appreciate the “one ought” witticism. Also, to remember Ohm’s Law: Rain is ‘Eavy over India. Draw a triangle, pointy at the top, with a horizontal line across the middle. Into the triangle, at the top write E of ‘Eavy, under that write the I of India, and next to I write the leftover R of Rain. Put finger over the one you want, and what is left is the calculation needed.
And don't forget what we were taught in High School Shop class by the Instructor to remember the resistor Color code to figure out ohms: Bad Boys Rape Our Young Girls But Violet Gives Willingly (Black Brown Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Violet Grey White)!
8:36 "Resistance is futile". 😁
10:54 You're the only American CZcamsr I've heard who says "solder". Thank you! Bolder, Colder, Folder, Holder, SODDER! Arrrgghhhh!!!
13:36 You do have a first-aid kit in the workshop, don't you ...
I could attend Sarah school all day! Awesome work and attention to detail.
Fun fact, in the netherlands the Ohms law is U = I X R, the U stand for Urgere, its Latin. And if you want to calculate Watts, you can replace the R with P
Almost. I × V = P.
@@petermorris9592 ahh ure right I miss typed it.. i should realy read back what i type😂
Ohms law is one of the most useful equations.
As an electrical engineer, that was the best layperson's explanation I've ever seen of Ohm's Law.
Yours is much better than other car shows. “it was a lot of work, but we got everything wired up….” 🙄
Seeing how difficult it really is, is why we watch. 😊
Thank you for shipping to Canada.
Love watching your videos on the wiring as you make it interesting.
I can't believe you get anything done with those nails.. incredible talent!
You know when you need to stop worrying when your hair starts falling out ! You clearly LOVE Challenges and you are a natural teacher, I'm learning with every video and I'm an Old Fart !
Sarah, your efforts and explanations are great and make your vids ones that always make my day. Baby steps and you are progressing nicely. That sense of accomplishment will be overwhelming when you turn that key and it roars to life! Cheers!
Thanks!
Great work and dedication, it will pay off soon. That car should last another 50-60 years the way you are getting it in shape. I wish I was there helping.
I will not dream about wiring. I Will Not dream about wiring! I WILL NOT DREAM ABOUT WIRING!!! It is always tedious, and you are a pefectionist. That is part of the reason we follow you. Rock on!
Sarah can even diffuse a bomb😎
Love your enthusiasm!
I'm an electrical engineer working at Edwards Air Force Base. Thank you for your service! Your theory was just fine...
I just spent all day wiring up a car , listened to "BLACK SABBATH" and Metallica...
I learned that from Sarah....!!!!
..."THANK YOU SARAH"... 😊
Aloha and Happy TGIF Miss Sarah! You continue to be such an inspiration
I do like it when you say Potential.....!
Full re-wiring while updating is full of complexity and becomes an ISO 9000 total quality management project with Zero Defects integrated. Remember to breathe and take your time. Great work Sarah!
Just remarkable the amount of wiring in a car like this! Incredible attention to detail too, great job.
Sarah is such a BORG 🙂
Sarah's vehicles have assimilated her as one of their own.😁
And we are the collective.
See you later this morning.
Sarah, I also have the wiring perfectionist illness and appreciate all the time and effort you put into this build.
Oh boy...new Sarah while I finish my 4th cup of coffee. Can't ask more of life than that, eh? EDIT: My Dog, it's such a pleasure to see somebody working on cars who really knows her stuff. Big ol' brain there, S. EDIT 2: Coulda rolled a bead on that crossover pipe without having to cut-n-weld...and you might look at heat-shrink tape if you're not already using it. EDIT 3: Nice work on the ground and power busses. General aviation procedure USED to spec soldered repair connections, but it's changed to crimps because so many techs couldn't solder correctly. Solder, done right, is way mo better.
For more bandaids.
The title of this Video “I underestimated how difficult this would be” is true as to most things worth doing correctly.
This is pretty much the greatest build in the history of youtube
It sucks to be a perfectionist, it makes every task take way longer, but the results are always worth it 😎
Great, but do you supply boxes of paracetamol to help old farts understand your incredible ability to do electronics, mine is still in the 60/70s. Love your explanations even though it hurts, an amazing youtube channel. The old Aussie Fart Al.
Sarah -- your underestimates are our entertainment! It's Sarah-n-Tuned-enfreude! (Well, OK, there's more relating involved 🙂)
Thank you for making these videos. Your attention to detail, cleanliness and especially the beautiful wiring is inspirational. I only wish they had CZcams and someone making videos like this in the 1960s when I started working on my cars. I learned by trial and (lots) of errors. But you never go wrong with keeping everything clean and going with wire bigger than you need.
we want you to know that no matter how hard this project gets we have faith in you and confidence in your ability to make it work your the best sarah
Never thought I'd hear a Billy Joel reference in one of your videos! Fantastic!! 👏👏😂😂
Sarah, I SO enjoy your videos ! Even boring, seemingly uninteresting projects are very enjoyable to watch. And it's all because of YOU !
I understood maybe 9% of this but your humour and dedication makes up the other 91%! I’d still happily watch 4 more of these though if that’s how long it takes for the wiring!
It's always a special time watching you in your element 👍
The wiring has been my favorite part of the build! Keep goin!
Green Mountain Furniture!!! Has more than meets the eye!!!
That explains why I keep finding all those dollar bills in my tool box pliers drawer! Doh!
Wiring is my specialty!
We are mostly amazed by your patience, on the wiring matter.
YES! So many just put a Chevy in it. I am not electrically inclined and I love the idea of taking an old Celica and putting a V8 that is not an LS in.
I remember the Green Mountain Furniture ads!
You rock, Sarah! You keep making videos and I for one will always watch!
Nice Billy Joel reference 🤣 and thanks, now I have the Green Mountain Furniture jingle stuck in my head!
I love how your brain works - you are certainly one of a kind! The amount of patience demonstrated throughout this wiring series can not be understated.
I absolutely love, love your videos (somehow you make wiring videos interesting). I have been a mechanic for 30 yrs and you truly know what you are doing. I admire your tenacity, fearlessness and attention to detail. Also your humor - You take the innuendo right to the edge but you never cross the line. Cheers!
Watching and listening to you solving problems is joy, end-to-end. I at once admire your patience and willingness to do whatever it takes to get it right, respect your unusual level of knowledge, and envy that you can put enough time together to do it.
Thumbs up on leaving extra wire on purpose until everything is terminated. I find it is always needed.
Finding original crimps to put in the terminal housings, eliminating splices, was a triumph of research, and will pay off huge in reliability. Kudos!
More thumbs up on very robust power rails. Makes up for a lot of other slow decay due to corrosion, simplifies troubleshooting later.
I may be sensitive on the issues of vibration and corrosion. For 33 years I have maintained a fleet of 3-4 motorcycles that I store under the sky full-time. Minnesota is a climate where there is a 176°F difference between the hottest and coldest it can get, it rains and snows a lot, and we salt our roads. I have seen things that you are not likely to see in Tucson.
While your B+ tree will work fine if unmolested by time, vibration and chemistry, I would have run B+ directly from a central connection point (bus bar?) to each load. A continuous insulated wire is always more robust than a crimp or a solder joint. I wouldn't do this with everything, but I would for the power rails. Ground especially. Chassis are shitty grounds especially as they rust.
Re soldering v crimping, IF you have crimpers with the RIGHT die for the job, terminals with the RIGHT gauge for the wire, and enough leverage to cold flow the wire (crush it until it turns a little inside out, with fresh metal exposed to the terminal before it sees air) then crimpers are definitely best. Advantage is the joint is less prone to cracking because the stranded wire is not stiffened by solder.
OTOH, if you use old 60/40 solder, it is softer so its joints don't fatigue crack as readily as lead free, and if you immobilize the joint so it can't fatigue, solder makes a great connection more easily. Lead free is a no-no when joining wires on moving machinery.
You are a treasure of the automobile world!
As an electrical engineering degree-haver, you did fine explaining those parts. You can get real far with just Ohm's law.
I’ll second that.
